Subject: SAILING RESULTS, REGATTA # 3

This past weekend, Fordham participated in the UMBC Open in Baltimore Harbor. Our Middle Atlantic conference is divided into three regions and each region has two qualifying regattas for the conference championship at Navy at the end of April. The top two teams, not previously qualified, qualify for the championship, but a team may only qualify in its own region. Fordham is in the North region and this was a Central region qualifier. Thus while eligible to participate, we were not eligible to qualify at this event. As a result, we sent three frosh and one soph to represent us and gain experience against some good competition. They underscored the depth of our team and surprised the competition by finishing in the middle of the fleet. Results:
1. U/Penn - 30 points
2. UMBC - 35
3. Washington C. - 50
4. Princeton - 62
5. Loyola - 65
6. Ocean County - 72
7. Fordham - 91
8. Maryland - 96
9. Delaware - 96
10. Penn State - 99
11. Drexel - 110
12. Lehigh - 132
13. Villanova - 154

U/Penn & UMBC qualified for the championship.
