Subject: Quoting someone word-for-word does not necessarily guarantee that the quote is given in context. By definition, context is what surrounds the quote, and not the quote itself. And I'm fairly certain that he brought up the whole "running a program at the highest level" thing in his response to the arena question. But hey, that is neither here nor there - we both acknowledge the need for internal improvements. My suggestions are INSIDE this message.
In reply to: Rambacker 's message, "The statement wasn't out of context. It was exactly what he said. He did also mention that good programs are solid in many ways top to bottom, but not in context with the arena comments. I would suggest that your positioning of his comments is out of context. But I agree that we need to improve some internal elements of our program. What do you think needs to be improved?" on Mon March 14, 2005 09:45:43

I think a real concession stand, (as opposed to a concession tent) needs to put in place. I think the history of the RHG and Ram Basketball needs to be exploited: on game days, banners featuring former Fordham greats in action could be hung in the McGinley lobby to create atmosphere. The Athletic Department could vary their advertisements from game to game, rather than just posting the same neon-colored fliers in the area around the gym and cafeteria, time after time. And they could also stop relying on RAs to distribute fliers and promotional materials. They could implement steep student discounts, or bring back the contests they used to have at halftime/media timeouts. ANYTHING to get enthusiastic students to come out for games. Finally, they could tell our announcer to leave some room between sponsor plugs for the band to play, or the fans to do some organized cheers. They could bring back the game-day discount at the bookstore, and make sure the bookstore is open for at least an hour after each game. The list is endless. All would help.
