I think it was obvious why we lost tonight. GWU wore us down near the end because we didn't have enough offensive weapons to continue to compete. With Dunston getting double or triple teamed every time he touches the ball in the paint, with Stout and J-And having defenders stuck on them like glue around the perimiter: who else was there to go to? Binns, to watch him miss another 10 footer (really, I'm SICK of this guy taking and missing J's, he's obviously not built to be a jump shooter)? Ya'akosi so he could fumble up and cause a turnover? K-Anderson who also cannot make a shot lately (although he DOES have one)? We were able to keep up with GWU's unstoppable offense for 3/4 of the game but no more. Our three top scorers just could not keep up, they earned every basket they got because they were the ones that GWU's defense focused 95% on. Next year, when we have 3 more awesome recruits coming our way, we should have some more offensive weapons, which is exactly what we need. We cannot have one guy, like Stout, expect to score half our points (like he nearly did last night, but Duquense wasn't good enough to shut him down) if Dunston is getting harassed in the post and can't produce. With that said, I am very happy to end our season on a note like this, knowing that our team has a very real chance of being a national contender next year, of winning the A10 outright, hell even ranked in the top 25. If it doesn't happen next year, that's OK, partly because I will have one more year at Fordham, but partly because I know we will improve on this year no matter what. There is no way DW would lead us to a record worse than 13-16. Before I graduate, Fordham will have established the best program in NYC, and a serious A10 contender. I am very confident in that and I am very excited for next season. I won't be joining the 6th Man Club (some of those kids freak me out), but I will be buying a Ram Pass and I will miss however many classes I have to miss to attend each and every home game. Signing out for the season -- later, bros.
