Flyer, the cat that adopted Ryan when he was here one summer, went to kitty heaven January 1st.

I had to work, after which I was to meet Ryan and his friend in Bryan, OH to hand deliver some paperwork so Ryan could get his new car on Monday. While en route in some very nasty weather, Hippie calls to tell me that Flyer is very sick. She's lying on her side, just heaving, trying to get her breath or something. She was making the saddest, most awful mewling noises when he would go over by her. This came out of nowhere. There was nowhere to take her and I was shitty about him calling me with yet another stressor, especially when there was nothing I could do about it. Of course, later I apologised.

So I accomplish the hand-off, return home about 1:30 with the chance to grab about 4 hours before I have to be up for work again. Flyer is gone by the time I arrive, although obviously after Hippie went to bed. She didn't go gracefully, by her appearance, a thought that just tears at me still. Pile on I wasn't here and she was always referred to as 'Ryan's cat' and there you have a recipe for suzi, emotional mess, a condition in which I already had more than a fine headstart.

Although I don't understand it all now, it seems like some yucky things need to happen right as this year is starting in order to move on in the right direction. On the other hand, some good things couldn't be finalized at the end of the year, taking until the turn to work out.

I have this feeling January is going to be jam-packed with changes, especially at the first. I truly do believe this year is going to be better than the last.......ultimately, anyway.

Hang in there, Tony.
