I've watched him selling 4 pairs of tickets now.
Anyone know where our allocation of tickets went. I'm not casting aspertions (dunno how to spell it but know what i mean i tink ?). Maybe its a Welsh guy in Warwickshire, who lives by a river ?
Would anyone like to discuss how the WRU have sold tickets for the 6 Nations 2005?

  • Absolutely pathetic -- -, 17:31:06 01/29/05 Sat (lysine.whitcombe.org.uk/84.92.27.107)
Totally hammered by a side that according to their programme hasnt won a home game since November and got knocked out of the cup last week by the world class might of Llantwit Fadre.

Our forwards were absolutely hammered and terrible throughout. Lineout was possibly the worst ive ever seen with the number of own throws won counted on one hand with fingers to spare. Scrum wasnt much better.

Add that to some very sloppy tackling and the scoreline was a fair result.
The backs while pacey in broken play received very little ball and all that was slow. Too often we kicked it ahead with nothing else on and lost what little posession we had.
Scott Horner about the only player that looked up for it and all too often he got isolated with little or no support.

Half time score was 17 - 13, we failed to score a point in the second half and never once looked like it.

Llandoverys tactics simple and easy, kick forward to touch, win ebbws lineout, repeat until in the 22 then keep it tight waiting for the inevitable missed tackle.

We can argue about the time without a game and so on but that dismal forward display goes far deeper than that. They werent competetive and towards the end either gave up or ran out of steam or both.

Its a good job we got that good winning streak last year as on performances like todays we will struggle to beat anyone at all.

  • We're missing Gareth Jones and Ben Coutts dearly. Looks like they are not playing for while though. Are there any other front five forwards to come back other than them? -- :-{, 13:32:35 01/30/05 Sun (ACCA155B.ipt.aol.com/172.202.21.91)

Although I added a contribution to the thread a bit further down, saying that this is a website for discussion of EVRFC matters and that people who don't want to do that should just stay away, I must just add that, when I read the foul-mouthed, petulant, infantile postings of some of these itinerant contributors I completely understand why the club removed the link off its own homepage!
Now I'm off to the Rachel Stevens message board to complain about the lack of reference therein to Christina Aguillera.

  • Training tonight -- Graham, 21:22:16 01/27/05 Thu (ebbwvale.plus.com/80.229.160.12)

Lyn Williams is starting to look a lot fitter and has lost quite a bit of weight. He said he played 40 minutes for Brynmawr last week with no ill effects, and is hoping to play a full 80 this week. I'm looking forward to seeing him playing for us again.

Talking of props, it looks as if Dean Alexander is starting for us against Llandovery this weekend and he seems to be up for it. Why do they call him Abu?

With regard to Ben's situation with the red card etc, I've heard that the hearing isn't until after the Pooler game, so he will be available for that. Sadly however, he could be looking down the barrel of around an eight game ban (any chance Ebbw Vale and Sale can organise eight friendly games for the week after next?). I don't think it will affect us though, as after the Pooler game, he's supposed to be going to Sale anyway (boy are they going to be upset at having a prop complete with ban?). If he does get a large ban, in light of the recent Ryan Jones disciplinary case, the club have every right to challenge it.

Injury-wise though, I've heard there are a few problems. Joel Griffin is out due to a neck/back injury, his namesake Matthew won't be available until Pooler next week (hopefully he'll be back for that one), Andrew Bevan is still carrying the knock he picked up against Pontypridd and won't be playing this weekend, Ben isn't available until the Pooler game, but this is because of his duties at Sale (all to do with paperwork I think), Gareth Jones has got to have an operation on his broken nose (can anyone tell me how long that keeps you out?).

Tristan Mabbut was training with the substitutes and looked really sharp. After his illness, he now looks as if he has bulked up a bit as well. I really think he is one for the future and just needs game time to show what he can do.

Macca is looking as sharp as ever. If anything, I'd say he's bulked up a little. My guess at the back line would be, Macca, Horner, Griff, Handsome, Kris, Jason and Rhodri. The pack I'm not so sure of, but the front row looks like Lee, Chris and Dean with Richard and Kuli at lock. The back row I would guess will include Farmer, Scu and Cleaver. Manu was training, but looked as if he will be on the bench.

Only time (actually it's Rob) will tell what the full squad is. Whoever is wearing the jersey for Ebbw, let's get behind them and get up to Llandovery and make some noise (it's only an hour away).
