Subject: Temperature reading problems TLS

After a complete engine rebuild, I've stuck the engine back in the bike. Now I don't get an temp reading. However, after the bike has been sitting for a while (not running), turn the key on, hello!, the temp is reading around 25-30c, go for another ride, it drops again to below 20c (winter here).
The meter is ok, checked mine on my brothers TLS, all good. Relpaced temp sensor & thermostat ok (tested and it opens, and it was not stuck open).....pretty much exhausted all tests in the manual, any ideas chaps?......I'm going on a major ride this week for 5 days, need to sort this out asap.....cheers
Shane
