Oh, so you're playing for the crowd, you don't want anyone to get lost in our low-level conversation. Trust me Dan, most of us here are literate, we also have the capability of absorbing more than one thought at a time...but thanks for thinking of us.

You should see my library of dog books...everything from 'Ol Yeller to probably the book you are on now. Here is the catch for those of you astute enough to follow along with this train of thought (I'll type slow for you Dan) Do you research up on something, read lots and lots of books and get good at anything? Is that how a tradesman masters his craft...plumbers, electricians, truckdrivers? How about professionals...doctors, lawyers? I say no. I say that reading and research obviously has it's place, it is an invaluable tool, and it becomes irresistable on a subject that you are really interested in...like dogs. Problem is, you have to temper some of what you read, some of what you learn, the other persons experience, with your own. You do not, cannot, learn to be a good dog-trainer or good dog-breeder from a book. You have to get started, you have to get out the lead, you have to see what the Author was talking about, you have to adjust the black and white of the book to the reality of your experience, your ability, the temperament of the dog, and the whims and mysteries of the nature of the beast.

Now Dan, you make sweeping statements about me not needing to breed dogs to help in my work here at the farm...are YOU going to just send me some? For a lifetime? Will they be any good? Have you read up on farm-dogs...is THAT what qualifies you to tell ME WHAT I NEED? You don't have enough knowledge or experience to know ANYTHING about what I do. You're not a hoot, you're a boob. Here is the deal kid. You do not make interesting reading for me. We have exchanged e-mail several times...I have seen many of your posts on these boards...you have told on yourself through what you write, you are argumentative, quarrelsome, you fancy yourself as well-read, you posts stat's, you research things to death, you go to great lenghts to appear knowledgable...when you first appeared on these boards you came in argueing, you have argued both side of every issue, devils advocate my butt, you like to stir. You have no consistant position on anything, you drift like the wind...tell us now, what is your position on ANYTHING DOG, tell us what you think, what you know...commit to something of your own, tell us what it is. I think you know very little. Prove me wrong.

DKH
