 The new leader law is not until september. I don't think it matters though since they don't enforce the laws they have on the books right now and no one patrols the river after salmon season. The real problem is there are very few fish to even fish for! The numbers of fish are dropping every year, soon to be a big fat zero. The fishery is in the crapper and no one wants to do anything about it. There are small groups of shop owners and guides that seem to have only one interest in the fishery and they are in control of any changes in the system. It's too bad because changes should have been made years ago. They were to blind to see that the salmon program was just a quick fix for there cash needs.

Just take a look at what is going on in Lake Erie. That should have been Lake Ontario with some foresight. They have lots of steelhead fishing, not big ones, but plenty for everyone to fish for. Alot of guys are leaving the area to go fish there and taking all there business with them.

So, since you folks want to keep the pacfic salmon program that only gives you fish for 4 weeks a year instead of a steelhead program that could run for 8 months a year, I don't feel sorry for you. Shame on the people who only looked to fill there pockets, because of your greed, now you don't have fishermen around to fill those empty pockets.
The fishermen have been asking for changes but you folks won't listen. So see what happens when you don't listen to your customers, they go somewhere else.
