Subject: Long time, no talk, Carrotts - miss ya! I think Harm and Mac's BBQs would be very comfortable... a relaxed atmosphere, much laughter, people calling to Harm how they want their meat cooked, children running from one "extended family member" to another, Mac wowing folks with tales of her and Harm's worldwide escapades, etc.

[> Okay, here's why I asked - but first before I have to eat a little crow inside I need a little vindication out here. Remember when I said that Sturgis wasn't being nice when he gave Harm back his office? Well, I had my performance apprasail the other day and Boss #1 said that he spoke with Boss #2 about my performance and that he said I was doing great work ~pat's self on back~. He also said, "you know- I usually find the nearest warm body when I have a new task and you and Rob are way off the beaten path so I rarely catch you two. I'm going to stop that." Gee. Thanks. Anyway, I told yall that was the deal all along. LOL! Now on to the topic inside -- Carrotts, 16:09:23 07/07/06 Fri

First a little background. A couple of weeks ago my good friend Audge, the lawyer, forced me to go with her to a cook-out that was being held for and by a group of lawyers. I didn't want to go because lawyers, in general, make me nervous. Think about it - if you need one, chances are that things aren't going all that well for you. Anyway, she pulled the "but you're my best friend and not only do I need you, but your godson wants you there as well" card. So I went.

On the way, trying to find my happy place, I was thinking about JAG and the time that Mac didn't want to go to Mic's shin-dig. I never understood that. She is a grown woman and had to schmooze before, come on. I gave her personal demerits for that. Well, I'm like Mac - I thought. But wait, Mac is a lawyer - I'm not. So it was still more understandable for me. Right? But wait, Mac was a Marine first, lawyer second. So maybe military lawyers are more like regular folk than civilan lawyers? I'll look for any reason to justify Mac's behavior so I went with that - and it made me understand her reluctance - and so I apologize. LOL!

So I'm in Mac mode and we get to this thing. I'm getting looks like, 'what is she doing here?' Yeah, I'm in Mac mode. There is no music. There is no food yet. They are standing around talking shop. Can you say BORING? I can, and did, several times. Then I noticed that sometimes they would stop talking when I walked near-by...as if! I guess and out-sider wasn't privy to all the who gives a care anyway, shop talk. Then it dawned on me. I wasn't Mac at all. I was Renee. Egadds. I started to wipe off some of my lip gloss. So now I apologize to Renee. It sucked to be her.

So I started remembering JAG parties. Would you have liked to have been a guest at Mac's engagement party? Nuh-uh - well maybe if I was in a gossiping mood. Bud and Harrietts open house? Nope - even the music was jurassic. The Christmas eve bash? Not really - Lauren kinda ruined the mood. The superbowl party? Maybe, but the only good food was a few pizzas and they did talk shop some. Bet they would have left me out anyway. Bottom line? I don't think lawyers.... any lawyers - know how to throw a party.

As for Audge - she better be glad she's got me to make her normal and fun.

[> [> Whoa! .. Backtrack a bit. How did you figure you were Renee nor Mac??? You lost me there! LOL Anyway, I empathize. Well, kinda. From the other end of it anyway. I´m a teacher. Hubby is a teacher. We´ve had lots of get-togethers with other teachers, so whenever we had a non-teacher kind show up I always thought "the poor soul must be bored to death!" LOL -- Lucia ... hey, I like to wear lip gloss ... What??? LOL, 16:28:32 07/07/06 Fri

[> [> [> I was a definite outsider and they made sure I knew it, and that made me Renee. LOL! Oh yeah, you teacher types have that bad, too. LOL! Now we engineers know how to make EVERYONE have a good time. LOLOL! -- Carrotts - rock on, 16:57:48 07/07/06 Fri

[> [> So, did THEY serve crow...or what? Personally, I'm a fan of fowl, but only if it doesn't taste too foul, and I'm betting that crow is too gamey for my taste, so I shan't eat any, thank you very much. -- Postrider, who doesn't wear lip gloss anyway and is not about to start, no matter what a bunch of lawyers say!, 13:09:23 07/08/06 Sat
