  Thanks to a heavy dose of inspiration and lots of help with clips from a new friend, I finished another video a few nights ago (created it in two hours, a new record for me!). It's called "What Hurts the Most," and is mostly from Harm's POV. I'm extremely pleased with it, and I hope you will be, too. (It's the first video I've made so far that ended up exactly how I pictured it in my head.) Enjoy!!!

  Many have said that they are not interested in the 1st season because it won't have Mac in it...
  
  A question to you, how many are interested in the LAST season? Other than possibly the last 2-3 episodes, the last season didn't have much in the way of entertainment for me. Well, I guess I should say, I will buy it but I will not be watching the Vuckster. Maybe TPTB will include some side commentary on what the heck they were thinking when they brought the newbies on board and why we didn't see a build-up of the H/M resolution. I still feel so cheated.

  • I'm glad that I have my own copy of S-10's most important episode, because I would be hard pressed to put hard cash out for a hard copy of most of that season, because it was too hard to watch as most of those new characters were hardly worth watching!   Somehow I didn't have on my recording the last minute or two of Lost tonight. It cut off for me right after Hurley tells what's-her-name that in real life someone like her wouldn't like him. So what happened next? Did Hurley jump? Did the lady convince him that everything was real? By the way, I thought tonight's episode was pretty interesting, even if there wasn't much more than the Hurley story there.

  • Hi shygirl, the girl snatches him from the edge with a kiss and they walk away together, then it flashes back to the psychiatrist taking a picture of Hurley around his imaginary buddy again. At another table was this woman with this "lost" look on her face as she is taking her medications from the nurse. It is the same person and/or face of Hurley's girlfriend. That part confused me.     • It is leaving you with the idea that if Dave (his imaginary friend?) wasn't real, then is this another extension of his imagination, after all? If you watched carefully, the doctor was the only one who ever acknowledged Dave (as if he were humoring Harley's psychosis); however, the other castaways have acknowledged Libby, the "girl friend" and interacted with her; so, the logical questions are: did Dharma have long reaching tentacles in mind control whereby they were in charge of Hurley's hospital? Did they cause the plane crash, sending it off course to the Island? Knowing that it would happen, did they also bring Libby to the island to participate in this experiment. I think that this is getting a little silly and far-fetched.     • I was confused by it the first time around too. I didn´t take that to mean we´re supposed to think they all exist in Hurley´s psychosis. On the contrary, his imaginary friend´s reappearance was Hurley´s way of dealing with another traumatic experience: being estranded on an island, which led him to question what was real and what was not. Besides, TPTB have gone the extra mile to establish that all passengers were somehow linked or had at least met once before the plane went down, and they´re little by little revealing those circumstances. Every character seems to have been shaped by some personal tragedy, which was what led them to Australia in the first place. I took that last scene not only as a way to establish their connection but also to show that, like everyone else, INSIDE ... -- Lucia ... who may be disappointed at the end but is fully enjoying the ride!, 20:40:31 04/07/06 Fri

  • This was one forecast which was, unfortunately, right on the money! This is the time of year when we become part of tornado alley, so we have to be alert.   • I think the doors closed because of the delivery. The loudspeaker was probably announcing it and then you go out and get it the doors lock so no one can get in.   I had to go and baby sit my god-son yesterday during lunch. I want to go on record saying that the person who invented The Wiggles has to be some evil genius six-year-old with a plot to make every adult into a zombie so they can take over the world. What else would make a 21 month old sit (ok well, dance) through several shows and still ask for more? They know it. They all know it! Every single child in this great world of ours. They are just biding their time, you mark my words. As my eyes started to glaze I figured out what was happening, so I told the child that the Wiggles were evil and that we were turning the tv off. He threw a shoe at me! I am Auntie Carrotts - the giver of M&M's and french fries. We do not throw shoes at Auntie Carrotts. Be careful people, and be forewarned. I was never so happy to be able to get back to work - even IF I did have a meeting with the office Singer.

  I just found out that Hollywood might do a Magnum P.I. movie and the front runner actors are Vince Vaughn and George Clooney.
  My first reaction was yuck. What were they thinking?
  Sometimes I get to the point Im so sick of Hollywood making all this sequels and ruining all my movie and tv classics. What happened to originality of ideas?
  I know these days movie execs just wonna cash in on the sure thing not take risks.

  Are you still watching Desperate Housewives? What storyline would you like TPTB to pursue? Or what storyline do you think TPTB resolved too quickly?
  
  I will say that I think two storylines that were resolved too quickly was Mary Alice's suicide. Is it too late for TPTB to re-open that with a suspicion of perhaps someone else killing Mary Alice???
  
  The other storyline that came to a head much too quickly was the Susan/Mike relationship. James Denton, hunk that he is, has been absolutely MIA for the most part this season. I would like for TPTB to explore the Paul/Zack storyline more, those two a bit on the spooky side.

  The arts section in our local paper mentioned that Variety mag recently reported that USA Network is going to pay $750,000 per episode for NCIS reruns. So I guess they're going to add it to the line-up, but don't know when. I thought the syndication rule was that shows had to reach 100 eps first, but lately they haven't been sticking to that on the cable channels.
  
  I hope they don't drop JAG for NCIS ... though now it's only showing at 8 a.m. so I usually miss it these days. There's way too many Law and Orders on during the evening on USA!

  Reading below about CB's new show and DJE new project, hopefully they will make the cut and become an actual show... I'm not wishing to cause any bad vibes about them... but why do you suppose that actors have such a hard time making a go in other projects after portraying characters for a long time? Is it because that we the public get so involved in their characters that we can't see them as anything else? Is it because the new shows that appear in are so bad? Even though they are good actors, is it because the new shows don't have the same ensemble?
  
  There are so many shows that end, Friends, Seinfeld, just to name a few, that the actors have tried other shows and just didn't make it... Why is that?
  
  Again, I am hoping that CB and DJE new projects are mega hits but I have to wonder, can we ever see them doing anything else but playing Mac and Harm?

  • Morning, Ya Ya!! As you said, some actors simply vanish after a TV hit series; others are able to come back and be just as equally successful. I´d think each case is unique, but me it´s all about luck, really. Being offered the 'right' part, in the 'right' show, at the 'right' time. Some end up being typecast, which may not be a bad thing.   • As you said, most actors who star on highly successful shows rarely find solid work afterward. I DO believe it's because the world has gotten so used to seeing them portray one particular person, that they find the person's next character impossible to believe. However, one of the good things about JAG flying "under the radar" (unlike FRIENDS and Seinfeld, etc.) is that less people know who its actors/actresses are. Not as many folks have set in their minds "DJE is a lawyer" or "Karri Turner is a cute blonde lieutenant." That being said, I don't think the JAG cast will have difficulty finding new and various roles. Both DJE and CB found the time to work on different types of projects over the past 9 or 10 years, which will help as well. I wouldn't worry!   • It has often been said that the best actor plays himself; so, as Lucia said about Nicholson, at least a little of the real personality of he actor must come through to give authenticity to their role. With a long series, it is a long series because it became popular and that happens becasue the viewership becomes comfortable with the actors, the topic, the characters--the components that went into the show. Sometimes the new series don't work because of the actors, but I suspect that mostly it's because of the writing. Let's face it, there really are only so many storylines out there and in order to keep things fresh, it takes skillfull writers to take those storylines and embellish them to get a new slant.   • Well, obviously it works for me, since I started the thread! As Chris said, the romance works but in these shows the characters were already together when the show started, so it's a different premise to see how they get together. I think 9 years was way too long for H/M! Not many shows get that long anyways. If the writers get the characters together, they would have to work really hard at not making their audience bored.   JAG started as a show about the main character: Harm. The show was centered around him - i.e., what drove him, what shaped him into who he had become, etc. The other characters were there mainly as a tool in telling Harm´s journey. That was true until, say, mid S3. Then, for some reason, DPB decided he wanted an ensemble, which ensued a few changes. For one thing, TPTB 'resolved' Harm´s search for his dad. Little by little, they began giving more airtime to the other characters and their backgrounds. New characters were added and recurring ones were featured more prominently. Finally, even the opening was changed to make it look more like an ensemble.
  
  I always thought they resolved the Harm, Sr. arc too soon. I mean, using a character´s personal tragegy as a driving force and element of drama is very common (Bones, for example). And when shows do use it, they hardly resolve it - if ever!
  
  Anyway, they sent Harm back to flying then back to JAG headquarters. And when they were done with that, they decided it was time to 'deconstruct' Harm, Sr. as the flawless hero in Harm´s mind a bit more. So, Harm was left with an image of a dad that was pretty much like many dads out there: a hero and an ordinary man all in one. Now We know TPTB were not about to let H&M be item just yet (they wanted to milk the 'shipper cow' for literally as long as they could). Still, the character needed to move on. And if they were not giving him the girl, they needed to give him something - another obsession?
  
  This is where my question finally comes in ...LOL... Do you think the Sergei arc was an attempt to bring back that element of personal drama as a powerful driving force that was lost with the resolution of the Harm,Sr arc?

  • I forgot that this week was when they moved to their new time; missed all but the last fifteen minutes. If I could've kicked myself, I would've! In any case, I got to see the rescue, and like Carrotts, I melted and fell right off the shipper fence I was riding on. This episode really brought to light the connection these two have had for a while; it's just been under the surface 'til now. The sheer relief in his voice and the gratitude in her eyes as she clung to him was incredible. I was a bit surprised that she re-scheduled her date with the other man, but extremely pleased. The final pan out of them watching TV together was casual but heartwarming. Yep, I'm hopelessly hooked.   I was reading Sunny´s posty below about DH and - don´t quite know why, LOL! - remembered a post I read awhile back on the GLA´s page. It went something like this (BTW, I´d give its author credit if I could remember who said it!): "I hope the characters never go shopping or we´ll hear all about how shopping is taking time away from H&M" Was something ever so true? I mean, that kind of complaint, of course! LOLOL
  
  Anyway, looking back now, at the show as a whole with its TEN seasons, is there an arc you think was nothing but a 'waste of airtime'? Note that I don´t mean a scene or dialogue! I mean an arc that was developed throughout a season/seasons, but, at the end, served no practical or relevant purpose to the show as a whole in terms of character/plot development.

  • To me3, the whole Vukovic arc was completely a waste of time. Why not bow out with class instead of going with a JAG Jr. format. Now, we are left with large chunks of S-10 which are useless for the entertainment value of having The Vuckster stuck front and center. I can accept Webb and Mac, because of the uncertainty of the contract status the year before, but in retrospect, even using THAT scenario was a punitive measure to "Harm" when we could have had a more long lasting lead in for the Harm/Mac romance.   In the hatch, Locke pulls down a book “Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge”...I found this about what this book was about. It is the story of a man who gets hung off a bridge, but the rope breaks and he falls in to the water below, escapes and begins a journey home. Throughout the journey, he starts to feel pain in his neck which worsens along the way....at the end of his journey it is revealed that he did in fact die from the hanging and the whole “journey” is what he imagined in the brief seconds between the rope dropping and his neck breaking/death.
  
  Could this have some significance like (1) are the characters dead and if so, is this whole deal someone’s last dying vision?
  
  I'm thinking that there is going to be a showdown with Zeke, probably during sweeps in May. Why do you think that Henry allowed himself to be captured because I do think that he is one of the others and that Rousseau is not as batty as originally thought.

  • Wow! That is some sleuth work! LOL I remember reading right from the beginning that many thought they were all dead, which the word "LOST" moving in that ghost-like way in the opening seem to suggest. Also, it would explain why that psychic in Australia bought the tickets for THAT flight specifically. If it is someone´s last vision, then it would have to be someone who knew everyone aboard - the pilot? One of the fight attendants LOL They were all "knew" each other one way or another ...   It actually got a little interesting...for a few minutes I thought they actually killed off Paul Young. So, what's up w/ Felicia? She was soooo sure he was dead. I understand she probably wants revenge for her sister, but doesn't she seem a bit too interested in Zach? Do you think she's hoping the old man will give her a reward for telliing him about Zach? I haven't figured her out yet...but have a feeling it's more than just retribution for her sister.
  
  The incident w/ Gabby and Carlos in the adoption agency was funny...talk about actions coming back to bite you. ;-)
  
  As for the rest, same old stuff. If I was Susan I'd find another hospital and doctor...and I just knew she'd say something about loving Mike when drugged ... they did that on "Whe's the Boss" years ago when Tony admitted he loved Angela.
  
  As for Tom, he needs to get another job. He and Lynette should NEVER have worked together. He's got problems and needs to shape up and get a new job.
  
  Finally, Bree should kick good ol' sonny boy out. Let him blow his trust fund and be broke in a year. He deserves it ... and she shouldn't take him back when he comes crying home. I used to wonder where his coldness and cruelty comes from, but I have concluded that he's a combination of Bree and his paternal grandmother.

  • hi sunny, I just got bits of it but I've always wondered why Bree doesn't just tell her brat of a son that she could turn him for the hit and run and let his butt sit in prison. Personally, wish that TPTB had never sent Lynette back to work, her character was much funnier when she was at home with the kids. Susan's character is pitiful. Now the plot when Zach and his father, now that is interesting and they should expound on that more and even the sister. She strikes me as a very devious person.     • I´ll miss Charmed. I was surprised they even came back after last seasomn´s finale, which looked very much like the end of the show. Glad Veronica Mars is probably coming back. It´s a nice show, even though I miss more ep´s than I actually watch them! LOL The 4400 may have a 4th season? I think they should have stopped after the first, IMO.
