I typed in "stroke diet" in my search engine and came up with a bunch of links for you. Some of them of course are the old "don't eat low carb" warnings, and some say just the opposite.

One recommended flax seed for post menopausal women. One talked about "phytoestrogens" which are plant estrogens which should lower stroke risk in women past menopause.

Menopause itself seemed to be a factor in stroke, so these two ideas shouldn't be totally discounted. Smoking or being exposed to second-hand smoke was also a stroke risk factor.

One site recommended drinking a glass of wine every day.

Anyway here is what I found:

http://www.cnn.com/HEALTH/9812/03/wine.stroke/

flaxseed helps prevent stroke, levels out estrogen levels for post menopausal women (I didn't bookmark this site because it was a site designed to sell you something, just took the pertinent information from it).

Sounds like increasing fish consumption, decreasing red meat consumption. Eating veggys and fruits, ONLY whole grains (if you must eat grain products), drinking a glass of wine a day , increasing B vitamins, taking more magnesium, and eating flaxseed as well as certain phytoestrogen plants (legumes) might all be indicated. (at least from what I have read so far).
