Subject: CKD = Cyclical Ketogenic Diet
In reply to: Kel 's message, "Well I'll be in Ju Jutsu class tonight; probably not as aerobic as it should be, but at least its something. Can you tell me more about the CKD plan you've been reading about?" on 07:11:40 08/26/02 Mon

Basically you follow a very low carb diet through the week, then on the weekend you "carb up" with "good" carbs - still cant be eating candy and sugary stuff.

This is all coupled with a pretty rigorous training schedule of cardio and weight training.

There is a book mentioned on the message board where i read bout it initially, i might pick up the book and read it.

Some of the theory behind it is that by doing the workouts you deplete your body of glycogen so that you get back into ketosis after the carb ups. The carb ups seem to be used to replenish glycogen stores to help your muscles recover from the weekly workouts. Hence the cycical nature.

I have only been reading for a few days so i am not yet fully up to speed on it. here is the link to the webpage

you might be able to gather better information there than by me trying to explain it. I still need to find out what carb foods you can eat and what you should avoid on the weekends.
