Subject: coffee

This is my first post. I've been doing Atkins on and off since October 2001. Like everybody else I lost a lot right away, but then I gained it all back over the holidays. With hard work I took off 8 pounds from January to May and then put it all back on over the summer-- barbecues, etc. I don't have a lot to lose-- about 20 pounds-- but I'm motivated because I'm 44, my mother is Type II, and I've put on all the extra weight in the last 4 years. Something is changing in my body and I'm afraid that in 10 years I'll be 40 pounds overweight. Aside from the weight issue, I just think carbos in general trigger binges on sweets and that can't be good for me.

So, I'm thinking of doing CAD for awhile, because it makes cooking for the kids so much easier. The problem is that I just can't let go of the decaf coffee with cream. God!! Whatever I try, I end up drinking 6 cups a day. I just went on the diet this week, and switched to decaf from regular coffee-- and I'm pretty tired. Sometimes I just go take a twenty minute nap. It does seem to be getting better...

Do I have to give up the coffee to be successful on CAD? How about if I just give up the cream. Creamy coffee is what got me through Atkins the first time...
