In reply to: Kel 's message, "Ummmm Sherry lol, I've heard from my Sgt's wife that this plan is hard as hell but she loves it anyway, (of course if I had a hot man like that coming home to ME every night, I'd be working my butt off too). I know I'm not disciplined enough to accept that challenge, so I'm going to have to decline & just keep doing what I've been doing. I'll be watching your progress though -- good luck!" on 06:22:37 08/25/02 Sun

I don't have a lot of self discipline either. I think that is partly what appeals to me about the program, but also what makes me hesitate to start it too soon. I want to make sure I'm ready to commit to that long and that strong of a program.

The excercise part actually appeals to me, I've been slipping some and been disorganized about my excercising lately, and I really do enjoy excercise (except for aerobics). He keeps aerobics to a minimum, and says it "bores him silly" too, so I feel like I can do a little if I have to. The hard part (for me) is varying the intensity as he says to do. I only have the healthrider and the longer I ride that the more intense it feels, I'm not sure how to vary that particular routine to make it harder or easier etc. I may just buy some roller blades.

Eating six meals a day is difficult for me without a lot of planning. That will be the hard part, but I think it is probably a better way to eat.

I thought of you when I read the book though. Something about setting achievable goals and gaining confidence from accomplishing them. I can't find what it was exactly right now, but it reminded me of you.

Even if you aren't interested in trying the program, you might enjoy reading the book, there is a lot in it that is worthwhile for any program you do. For instance: "Focus on Progress, Not Perfection" He's got a whole subheading with that as the heading. He says "Now that you've begun your program, it's vitally important that you protect your confidence. One way to do that is to forget about the whole concept of perfection. It doesn't exist" and "If you don't strongly believe in what you're doing-- if you cannot overcome feelings of self-doubt-- it doesn't matter how much accurate information about training and nutrition you have. Without confidence, you won't be able to stay on course."

These were so vital for me to hear. I think my biggest problem lately is a loss of confidence in myself, my ability to lose this fat, and in finding anything that will work for me. As a result I don't "stay on course". And of course it becomes a self fulfilling prophesy. Don't expect to be able to lose, don't lose.

Anyway I'm not ready to start this yet. Mentally and with planning I need to get ready first. And I need to make a committment to stay on course for the full 18 weeks before I start. Plus I want to start after TOM is over. I don't want my "before" picture to be larger than it needs to be due to temporary water weight gain.
