Subject: How disgusting!

I just sat through a program on "the health channel" about how obese Americans are becoming. They talked about how children are getting fatter and developing diabetes, they talked about a group of Pima Indians who are almost all fat, and who have really high percentages of diabetes. They talked about how they lived in the dessert traditionally and ate things like cactus, and now are eating "typical American food."

They even mentioned that the "epidemic" of fat gain in America has been getting worse over the last fifteen years, but they never even mentioned carbohydrates, or the emphasis on changing to a "low fat" diet that has happened in this country over the last 15 to 20 years.

How could you have a whole show talking about obesity and never even mention what people eat as a probable cause?

These Pima Indians just have a "thrifty gene" which was geared to desert survival, and now that food is more abundant and available in a grocery store they are all dying of diabetes, but no it couldn't have to do with the carbohydrates or anything could it? NEVER even mentioned it.

I couldn't believe how stupid the show was. They showed a man who had lost from like 1400 pounds, and said that a typical meal for him was like two pizzas, a loaf of bread and a bunch of glasses of milk. But still never mentioned carbohydrates.

You wonder sometimes where people's heads are at. A whole show about the "mystery" of obesity, but no mention of how many calories, carbs or fat or protein that anyone typically ate. Don't you think if they really wanted to figure out what the "mystery" was, they would look at those things?
