Subject: Hey Katie, I picked my original goal by what I remembered weighing when I felt "just right", but I've since modified it based on my age, on the calculations I did using the Protein Power book, and on the fact that 130 simply feels unrealistic to me now.
In reply to: Katie 's message, "How did you pick your goal weight?" on 09:44:48 06/08/02 Sat

To be healthy (though not necessarily thin) PP says I should weigh between 143 and 169 (something like that). I picked the higher number as my new goal, just because it looks like something I might actually be able to achieve.

IF I get there and find I am still unhappy with the way I look, I might go back to my original goal weight of 130, but at this point I have to remind myself that I am no longer age 17, and I may never be able to get back to where I was when I was that young.

I have a "goal" photo of myself when I was 17. I was wearing the skinniest pair of pants I can recall ever owning, even at the time (weighing 229) I had a hard time putting them on and wearing them.

I'd love to see myself looking like that again, but I know realistically it is likely to never happen. Even if I were able to achieve that size, I wouldn't look like that again, I'm way older now. So sometimes fantasy has to give way for reality.
