You can control what that scale will have you weigh? I agree you can control what you put in your mouth. (that is process), but how many of us have controlled completely what we put in our mouths and then woke up, like Katie did recently 8 pounds heavier? Heat, hormones, water retention, a lot of factors interfere with our ability to drop the pounds. Our bodies have self regulating functions that sometimes prevent weight loss regardless of our efforts.

I ate ONE meal yesterday. No breakfast, no lunch, a little chicken for dinner a single half a pear and a few nuts, some cream and a tiny bit of chocolate. Did I lose any weight? No. I'm sure it couldn't have been over 1000 calories total, and I'm not sure how many carbs, but surely not many.

That is what I mean about not having control of the results. I wasn't saying your goal wasn't a good one, I wasn't saying you aren't going to make it. (I hope you do). I'm just saying that your rewards should be a "feel good" atttitude every day rather than feeling then, like you do now.

You said "It is already summer there is no way I can meet my goal of being thin by summer, I might as well cheat." If you find yourself in the same situation when Christmas comes, are you going to say the same thing? "It is almost Christmas and I'm not going to fit in that slinky dress, I might as well cheat?"

When I didn't have my bills paid off by January of 2000, I didn't give up on the goal. It was still something I wanted to accomplish. I still kept it as my biggest goal for another year and 8 months. I was very pleased when I finally reached that goal, car and all credit cards paid off. (Still owe on house, but didn't have that in the goal).

Goals are wonderful, only by having them can you ever hope to reach them. Time should be a factor, but if you don't make it by the time you set, that doesn't mean you shouldn't still try. I guess that was the point I was making. What bothered me was the "might as well give up" because I didn't make it by the time I said.

We have those little mini goals for weight loss. I look at them on weigh in day, and some days I'm a pound higher than the goal. It is a disappointment, but it isn't a reason to give up. The goal still motivated me to try, and I'm closer to goal whether I make it completely or not.

I didn't say cheating isn't a factor with me. It surely is. NOT cheating is certainly preferable. I try to keep cheats small, but don't always manage it, and I often wonder if I didn't cheat at all if I would be thinner.

You are right about each of us being different, each of us having a different way of looking at things. I myself have probably reached the point where I don't really believe that I will ever be much thinner than I am right now.

I keep on trying, but not with the enthusiasm I had at the beginning. Probably because I don't make any real consistent progress. If I could find a solution to that I would probably be setting goals for "skinny dresses" by some date in the future.

Anyway a three day no cheat challenge will put us back in ketosis, and for me it is always easier to NOT cheat once I am in ketosis. So let's go.
