Katie,

I know what you mean about SOs who love the sugar! My husband and his entire family are major sugar addicts. He has been really great in curbing his sugar intake in the past 2 years (he has controlled his weight and blood pressure for the first time in years). But since our 5 year old is normal-weighted, he tends to allow her to sugar splurge. I accuse him of living out his sugar addiction through our daughter! :) We have come to a compromise. She is allowed one sugar snack per day. We keep all the high-carb stuff in a cabinent out of her reach with the chocolate locked in a lockbox (the lockbox is to control my behavior, not hers! :D) BUt since the research connecting sugar and cancer has surfaced, he limits the sugar even more than once a day.

I hear the argument about sugar being "natural" all the time. I love your response! You are correct in that sugar is no less processed than cocaine. If you do not mind, I think I will borrow the comparison.
