In reply to: Katie 's message, "I think another part of it is psychological. We have such great expectations of what we will be when we reach our goal weight. Even though we hate being "fat", this is what we know and it is our "comfort zone". I think so much of this is being able to create new comfort zones for ourselves. I know that I have a lot of issues with getting attention from men that affect my ability to keep losing." on 09:10:36 06/20/02 Thu

I agree with you on that one. For a long time I think losing a lot of weight was a bit scary for me, I remember being thin and getting a lot of UNwanted attention from strange men on the street. I believe that in the back of my mind there has been that thought as a deterrent to getting to my goal.

When I was thinner, certain types of men acted like you were property to be stared at in unflattering ways, and if you objected to it, you were "stuck up".

Being fat is a shield against that sort of action and expectations.

I keep telling myself that I'm older now and don't have to worry about that anymore, I doubt if that sort of attention will ever come my way again, so I can go ahead and lose the weight and just be thin for ME.
