When i first went on Atkins in 2000 i started taking a multi-vitamin, a few days later my kidneys started to hurt. I stopped the vitamins and the pain went away, the only thing i can figure is that the vitamins were too strong and were affectin g my kidneys.

I tried L-glutamine for awhile also. I didnt seem to have too much luck on it. It was ok when i took it but it seemed that if i missed a dose i would get terrible sugar cravings. So i gave up on it also.
