I'm not a doctor, and I don't want to urge you to do anything you aren't happy with. But I lost weight really rapidly like you have (at first) and at one point I woke up with excruciating pain in my legs. (charley horses). I think they ached a little and I stretched them out pointing the toes and my muscles LOCKED THERE. It hurt like crazy.

Although it hurt to move them, I had to bend my foot back with toes pointing more toward my head in order to get the muscle to relax. I'm pretty sure it happened due to potassium deficiency. It stopped happening after I started taking potassium anyway.

If you have similar symptoms, keep it in mind, and try a little. Calcium and magnesium along with the potassium help keep your muscles flexible and feeling relaxed.

You seem reluctant to try it even though it will probably help you. Is that because of what the pharmacist said?
