In reply to: Kel 's message, "Well I already walk to work (of course the station is only 500ft from my home lol), and I walk my arse off on Sundays on foot patrol at our beach (there is some running in there too), but I suppose I could go back to doing my abs video in the morning & my stretch video at night. I'm not an exercise junkie like you Sherry, and I find if I try to do too much all at once, I will chuck all of it and fail. Right now the diet is most important to me, so I'm mainly doing that." on 05:37:23 06/28/02 Fri

Believe me I'm NOT an excercise junkie. For the longest time I couldn't get myself to do it at all.

Right now though I finally reached a point where I was tired of doing the diet and still not losing any weight, or not being able to get below my setpoint. I've essentially been dieting for about 2 years with no real results. Unable to drop below 232, although I was able to go above it really easily (and then back TO it).

In June I made up my mind that I have to do whatever I have to do to make some progress.

On June first I was again at 232, my lowest this month was 225. That is a difference of 7 pounds. For someone who hasn't been able to lose more than a pound or two below 232 for 2 years, that FEELS almost like a miracle to me. The only thing I can think is that the excercise is working.

I understand about not doing too much at once because you then want to chuck it all. If that is where you head is at, you should listen to it.

Where my head is at is this (to myself) "Sh*t or get off the pot" I either have to give it an ALL out effort or else why bother? Diet alone wasn't really working for me anymore. I need to rev up my metabolism and this is doing it.

Rereading Protein Power and seeing what he says about human growth hormone made the difference for me. He says that hgh is what allows teenagers to eat all kinds of the WRONG foods and still not gain. As we get older we produce less hgh. Excercise (particularly weight training) releasese MORE HGH no matter your age. Sounds good to me.
