Your questions are a little confusing, but as far as cooking for children and "I can't eat any of it" my question to you is WHY? Cook for your children as you would for yourself. Kids don't need all those carbs either. Make them chicken, or steak or meatballs or Taco salad (without the chips), or any normal meal that a low carb person could eat. Why even try and think about making two meals?

My family eats what I cook. I cook low carb. They may occasionally have some bread or something added to the meal that I won't eat, but there is no reason why I can't eat what they eat for the most part. Occasionally I will make them speghetti and me parmesan chicken, using the same speghetti sauce only making the base of my meal a piece of chicken rather than noodles.

But there isn't any reason that I can think of why a person should try and feed their kids a different meal than they are eating unless they just beg occasionally for something that they miss.

Regarding a few sugar grams in your food, don't worry about it. Count your carbs, if you go much over 20 or 30 you might want to cut back, but if there are a few grams of sugar in something as long as it is part of your daily total, don't worry about it.

Vitamins. A good multi vitamin is likely all you really need. I search for one that has at least 100percent RDA for all the B vitamins. For me, I find that if I get low on the Bs it shows up in my body with water retention and my nerves tend to let me know it.

Also I would make sure you are getting some extra potassium, magnesium and calcium. These are important minerals. The potassium is usually found in things like potatoes and bananas. Since you aren't likely to be eating those foods on low carb, you might need to supplement. If you find yourself getting leg cramps while sleeping these could be what you need to add into your diet.

I hope that I have answered most of your questions. Like I said I thought your letter was a little confusing, so I wasn't sure exactly what you were asking. Anyway hope this helps.

  • I can't speak re: the other fruits, but I find that a occasional apple or orange actually makes me lose a pound or so. They sometimes act as a catalyst to fire the ole stoker, maybe. (NT) -- Daddy Bill, 06:36:05 05/19/02 Sun
