Subject: I'm recovering from a 2-month cheat....
In reply to: Kel 's message, "Does anyone else have a problem with discipline after a long cheat?" on 07:03:16 05/20/02 Mon

I haven't visited this board in at least that long because I felt like a hypocrite giving advice when I wasn't taking it. I've probably gained close to 20 lbs. since early March and right now I feel like crap! Yes, you could say I'm having a doozy of a time getting restarted. I've been trying (and failing) for over a week now.

I've set my new long-term goal and starting on Tuesday (yes, I'm waiting until after the holiday to completely jump back on the wagon!) I'm back on track. My 30th birthday is Aug. 21 and I'm getting together with my college roommates for a "girls' weekend" on the 16th. I really want to lose 30 lbs. by then -- that's only a little more than 10 lbs. per month.

My problem is will-power. I am TRULY addicted to sugar (my DH laughs when I say that, but it really is like a drug with me,) so cutting out the sweets is about like cutting off my hand! I try to assuage my sweet-tooth with Italian sodas (using DaVinci syrups,) low-carb chocolate mousse, and strawberries w/ Splenda and cream -- I'm on the Protein Power plan, which allows some LC fruits like melon and berries. It doesn't help though, that I bake and decorate cakes as a side business!

I also CANNOT seem to bring myself to exercise regularly. The only exercise I truly enjoy is working out at a gym (aerobics, swimming, and weight training,) but right now that isn't an option financially. I can't tolerate extreme heat, so anything outdoors after this month is out of the question. That leaves me with a few aerobics and Tae-bo video tapes to do at home, but those get old really fast. I know these are just more excuses, but I can't seem to get past them....(sigh!)

Okay....that's enough whining from me! I didn't mean for this post to get so long-winded and the gist of it is YES, it is VERY hard to come back to LC'ing after an extended cheat. I'm fighting that demon right now.
