In reply to: D'tir and Kuvoth 's message, "Posting this here for now to save it.. it won't let me post at the Perches for some dyoned reason..." on 17:09:52 01/29/04 Thu

((*mrrrs* This is... the 12th pair and 4th training I've had to do this post for, which means I'm rather running out of personalized ways to do this that I haven't already used. And I'm not feeling very inspired at this point. So it's gonna be a bit short and crappy. Sorry.))

Finishing the difficult process of untangling straps just as D'tir begins speaking, K'vren looks up, craning his neck to see the demonstration, and listens patiently. When the brownrider is done, the teenager turns to Notusith, examining the blue's hide closely. /How does your hide feel, Notusith?/ he asks. /Itchy or scratchy or anything?/

No, I feel fine, the blue reports.

His visual inspection finished, K'vren carefully examines the harness, laying it out on the floor to make sure it's oriented correctly - one of the benefits of being in the back of the crowd is having the floor space to do that. Then he runs his fingers over it, examining its suppleness with a skill born of tired experience - his father had long ago decided to educate his children in dragon and harness care, including the tedious process of oiling both. It had been fun - back when it was an occassional thing to do for a dragon that wasn't theirs. Now K'vren understands why R'kese had been so happy letting his children do its. But the harness is in good shape, and he throws it over Notusith's navy-blue back - buckles on the right, holes on the left. Buckling the harness around his dragon's chest and underside, he fastens the connecting strap, makes sure that the harness is comfortable for his dragon, then climbs on. Fastening the riding belt around his waist, he leans down and thumps his blue's neck like his father always does with his bronze. /Okay, Notusith, you can start walking around now./ His balance is good; he's been taking rides on Hakath since he was born, after all. Still, he eagerly looks forward to flight on his own dragon. It's different somehow, far more exciting.
