    Has the thing with Ghys been sorted out - that is, has it been decided whether Ghysk is going to be pregnant or not? I'd sort of like to know, since a few of my longer-range plans for the WherHall sort of depend on the question. I don't know if a conclusion was reached before Kitty came back, or if it was still up in the air at the time - and if it was, it probably should be decided now, if only because Fat Friar deserves to be able to play her. She's going to have to stick her in the watchwher thread either egg-heavy or eggless, because with the whole "yay! births! babies!" thing that all the firelizard-derived critters have going on, not to mention the "seeing body heat" aspect of watchwhers, I think Yimask would KNOW as soon as Ghysk showed up whether she was preggers.

    And speaking of the watchwher thread, I bumped it up again. Kitty, do you think that I could make a seperate board for the watchwher caves? (I'm planning to have them be in a fair-sized cave system beneath NIW, because if nothing else the queens and greens will need their own clutching area, and I'd like to have seperate caves for the handler-wher pairs and such. I just can't see a group of watchwhers happily coexisting in one large cave - they strike me as too territorial for that.)

  • Regarding the Upcoming Hatching -- El, 22:12:38 04/11/05 Mon
    Hello everyone! As you all know (sort of) I am El, player of Wessae and Shrineth on New Isle Weyr, and now my message is directed at those folks who current that particular site.

    More specifically it is directed at those who might have candidates in the upcoming hatching of Shrineth's eggs. I thought I'd post this here and now to give everyone some time to think on it, rather than on the Hatching Grounds. In the Real World, I'm going in for surgery this Thursday for my teeth. This means I'm going to put the clutch on the sands on Wedensday night. My recovery time will probably be a few days to a week, so that gives you candidate types some time to mingle and get some good posts in for the hatching. Also this is me letting you know not to be put off if you ask Wessae a question and she doesn't answer or Shrineth doesn't respond or whatever. So no pulling anything silly like stealing eggs or anything where I'm not here for my characters to defend themselves. :P

    My other point in making this announcement is the color situation. Everyone says "I don't care if my character gets a blue/brown/green whatever", but not everyone means it. This is important, and even though it's posted on the sands, I'm reiterating it now: If you simply cannot stand your character having a certain color, TELL ME. Or put it in your post. You may not get the color you WANT, but I won't make the mistake of giving you a color you don't want. I'm not going to think less of you, I swear. But I'm not going to waste a good blue, brown or green on someone who had their heart set on a different color. I LOVE all the colors and plan to infuse care into every dragon I make. Also I've seen too many people (girls who want the gold especially and I was guilty of this in my very early days of Pernese playing) get a dragon they don't want, play it for a few days, and then lose interest. No. I don't want that happening. So either tell me OOCly here or in your intro post to the sands. Please be honest, okay? If your character SIMPLY CANNOT Impress a certain color, don't be shy, say it! It'll save us all alot of heartache and strife.

    I was browsing the Members page- specifically, the ranking members. I hthought I remembered Pup mentioning, off-handed, in an E-mail that X'thrall, rider of blue Golgith, was Rinali's Weyrlingmaster Second. I don't know if I'm still right, but I noticed that Rinali didn't have a Second, and the A'ron/M'klern Master/Second was, so...I was just confused.

    (Yes, I know I need to post. I've had a run of bad luck about getting enough time to post recently, and I'll be perfectly honest and say I DID have time tonight and frittered it away with a survey. I'll post tomorrow, but now I just want to get this up.)

    In a few weeks, Akema, my female greenrider, is going to find out when she's pregnant. I'm not sure when the spawning will occur, but it'll probably be at least two or three months from now. What I need is more related to the SOURCE of our aforementioned spawn.

    Akema is a typical female greenrider - highly promiscuous. To the point, in fact, that she may be atypical, although a large part of it is the fact that my official story on the two flights is that the first was prematurely ended by the storm, which knocked out Laffranth and killed the flight-buzz, which left the green extremely sexually frustrated until she flew again, and Akema was the only outlet for said frustrations... but yes. Going off on a tangent here. The point is that while the baby will be dated back to the month or so (game time) surrounding Laffranth's second flight, which A'rak and bronze Kadoth won, it's not neccessarily A'rak's child. It could be his. It could also be any one of MOST of my maleriders. She's been in other people's weyrs at least every other night for quite a while, and not all the nights spent in her weyr have been spent alone. *coughs* Anyway, that makes A'rak and my maleriders a rather small pool. So I'm looking for guys that might have slept with her in that month-wide period in which the spawn could have been concieved. They don't have to be maleriders - greenriders CAN be bi, and it's not in conjunction with a flight - and they don't even have to be dragonriders at all, just male, past puberty, and of the sort that WOULD sleep with a woman who's probably just a friend or acquaintance. (Akema doesn't go in for that mushy emotional stuff.) If you have a guy who might work, and you don't mind, could you give me his name and a (brief) physical description? Please?

    I'm not going to just pick a man, by the way. Or rather, I probably will, but I won't announce it OOC unless you specifically request it and I don't want it EVER figured out I IC. want this to be as fuzzy as possible, so I'm going to pick one of the following options:
    A) a guy who looks enough like Akema that she can't ID the baby by its looks. (And this is probably the only case in which I'll actually be certain of the father's identity.)
    B) several guys who look enough alike that she can't know which was the father.
    C) both of the above.
    If I go for B, once the spawning occurs, she'll probably be VERY pissed at all the possible candidates, just because she's irrational that way. Sorry. =^^;;=

    Also, Akema's going to be fostering out her spawn. (She's not big on children - "spawn" is her term as well.) So if anyone would like to volunteer to have a character foster it, or if you'd like to play it, I'd be eternally grateful.

    If you can help me out here, I'll appreciate it!

    this is the only dragonriders rpg i have ever loved...and i look for it from time to time, never able to find it. i played sitara, rider of green kilanakath...surprisingly enough i find her on the lost souls board. i must have been thirteen when i first found this site...i adored it. now i'm seventeen and i'm debating whether or not to reclaim my character and play once again. the only problem i have is activeness...not from me, but from the site. most of the dragonrider rpgs i have seen are extremely unactive...but i really do love this place. for those of you old timers like me, it's home. so...who's on, and who can tell me what is up? :)

    When I began writing this, I didn’t know exactly how to start, except to say that I’ve thought about this for a long time, as to whether or not I should say anything, or even had the right to. However, the past months of returning to RP as well as re-building New Isle have brought to me a kind of pure enjoyment and excitement that I’ve rarely felt in the entirety of my junior year, as physically and mentally strenuous as it has been. You see, New Isle began as DragonRiders of Pern, an admittedly tacky site that an unskilled 11-year-old Kitty made out of pure love of the series. It continued for awhile, before Sushi joined me in ownership, and with her experience, we updated the site and improved its appearance and opportunities. Then, after a brief copyright scare, we moved all of our players to Etreus, and finally back to Pern with the creation of New Isle. Together, Sushi and I ran NIW until school and work, forced us to ask Kain and Erin for help. They kindly agreed to run it, Kain even describing herself as Warden of NIW, and Sushi and I sadly retreated into the reality of our busy schedules.

    Then Kain and Erin became busy themselves, and you three stepped up to the plate. You’ve done a fair job of keeping it running, with interesting plot ideas and very careful eyes of leadership. Thus, I really thought that maybe I aught not to say anything. I mean, I had created it, and I do love it dearly, but you’d offered up your time and perhaps it would be wrong of me to ask for my Weyr back. But then I stopped to think about it more fully, and I realized that maybe it didn’t have to be as bad as I originally thought, if not an absolutely good thing! Perhaps you’ll allow me to explain my train of thought...?
    I want to reclaim my Ownership to New Isle. However, as an owner one is given certain privileges as well certain duties. Privileges involve the creation of new places and types of characters (such as a new room in the Weyr or a Wherhandler) and the ability to come up with main plot ideas (Threadfall, flights etc.) Duties involve yelling at people if the break a rule, maintaining order, working out disputes, updating the members lists, updating the news page, updating the message boards, watching over the message boards for foul language, and checking the Joining Board to make sure all characters are legal. So, I thought to myself, perhaps if I could find a way to provide the privileges, and offer to take away the duties, it would not only be a fair way to earn my site back, but perhaps even provide repayment for your dutiful hard work!

    Here are my ideas so you can still influence Pern's future and thus maintain the benefits of leadership without the duties attached. A. Revitalizing “The Wire” – Via the use of Master Fandarel’s invention, we could honor his inventive spirit by having this board become the place where all members could suggest ideas for new Holds, Halls, Rooms, Positions, etc. I would then promise to look at every idea offered, and so long as it was canon with the series, would approve. This idea would then be moved to the second new board…
    B. Plot Board – A place for people to come up with new ideas for things that they wish to occur in New Isle. TinyPlots can be arranged here for any who wish to have a basic outline of sorts for an RPing idea and want to make sure they’ll have a few participants before hand. WirePlots would involve the inventions that were approved from the Wire, so that RPers could find a way to ICly work them into our world in an accurate fashion! MajorPlots would be suggestions to me for things you’d like to see in Pern’s future, and the place to put Flight requests to add to the Flight list. With these, so long as they are canon, I would do my best to work them into the storyline via the news board, but would spread things out so that it was still accurate as to New Isle’s ‘reality.’ (Aka: Two Queens Flying, Threadfall, and a Gather on the west coast of the island don’t all happen on the same day.)

    So, you’d still have access to the perks of plots and ideas, and I’d be taking the problems away. The only change would be the name under Webmistress, though I intend to place everyone who has helped to promote the survival of our fantastic New Isle on an eventual Thankyou page. Obviously, you three will be on there.

    *quiet smile and hug* Please accept this offer. I miss running my site, I miss answering questions and helping the players. My life has finally opened up enough time for me to make New Isle even better with new ideas for everyone to enjoy, and I really, sincerely want to.

    I'd like to quit I'mer and brown Svorath; they were fun where I played them before, but they have no real spark here. Besides, they were only DRoP chars in the loosest sense, since I'd changed K'nar to I'mer and altered their personalities and history in the other game, so I feel kind of odd trying to play them as disaster refugees.

    And of course, this will allow me to join a wher-handler or someone who might become a wher-handler, so I can get a brown wher, so I can have one of each color. *grin* I have the oddest goals.

    I know that I should just ask Deystar, but as she's having 'net problems and we'd like an answer sorta soon. Could my green Vitaliath fly next? It'd be pretty much a closed flight - she's not interested in poaching anyone else's males, she's got her own, to drag into this by the tail if neccessary :P - so you could even send someone else up at the same time if you feel like it, or if you had someone else in mind to fly next. It's just been gnawing on El and I for a couple of days, and we'd appreciate it a great deal if you let her fly.

    This is an idea I had when I was prowling through posts on New Isle. See, basically the barracks were designed to be for weyrlings in training, and the dragonets. I've made a board for the grown dragons and their riders to have their own weyrs. It's only one board, of course, but this way they don't have to all share barracks with the weyrlings.

    I know the desc. on barracks says it's for weyrlings AND full dragonriders, but it might be nice if they were separate. We can tweak the description on the barracks board. I just thought it might be nice, you know? Seeing as I already made the board, all you guys would have to do is link it if you like it.

    Here it is!

    Yes. This allows the adult riders some 'grown up time' and is a graduation of sorts.

    Now I feel like a dork - I've been muttering about my wher-handlers not replying, but I didn't even think to check the Lower Caverns for posts I should reply to.... Anyway, Kain and DS, I replied to M'telle and Tr'ln, if you can forgive me for leaving them for so long. *hangs head in shame*

    That said... where're Manethenre and Clell? I'm hoping not to get too bogged down with the watchwher educations, having been in weyrling trainings that have lasted forever because of waiting on all the weyrlings, so if they don't post soon I'm going to assume they've followed Yima's instructions, and just post Yima again. I can continue doing that for a while, but it's rather boring, and removes all chances of inserting anything outside Yima's party line or even developing Manethenre's and Clell's personalities. (It also slows down developing that bond to your watchwher that you're aiming for, since I don't want to powerplay and therefore can't exactly RP that development for you.) So maybe it would be better if you just posted. *hopeful smile*

    ...And reading back over that, I think it's high time I went and found some more chocolate, since the happy floaty coating of chocolatey goodness is obviously starting to wear off of my nerve endings again. *trots off*

    Okay everyone, I have opened an RPG again! After, how long? At least six months or so. .. maybe four months. I dunno. In any case, I'd like to welcome anyone who so desires to join to 'the dragon RPG' for lack of a better name. Lots of stuff still needs to be written up, and the boards aren't all made, but with enough poking and prodding they'll get done. That is, if people remain interested. Kay, El, and Kitty have all joined (LG too, sorta), but we need more. Please consider.

    I think we need to do something about this queen flight. I really do. Most of the riders are played by Deystar, Nitesun, and Pup - I think Nitesun plays the most, and they all seem to be AWOL for the time being. My posts aren't good - as I am the first to admit - because basically I write pretty bad flight posts generally. And the brilliant ones there already make it just a bit disheartening for me!
    So vote: Shall we wait for the others to return, or respectfully ask Shrineth to choose in the next post or so?

    Alright guys, I've made the decision to try to keep KRPG alive rather than taking the easy way out and just closing it. So, I need your help.

    If you're a KRPGer and also a member of another RPG, please go to that RPG's advertising/OOC board and post an addy for KRPG. If you want, you can use the Korats Are Love colorbar. Just get the word out about KRPG, vouch for it, and let's see some activity. I already posted a post to move us along on the KRPG MB, so I'd appreciate it if my members would come alone. =D Also, playership of Shula has changed, but ownership of KRPG has not--I still own and run KRPG, but Kitty is now Shula's playah. Respect her as you would me. And, as another goody, I finally finished the Korat Summary, so new folks can just read the short version before joining instead of having to slog through the long-ass Korat Biography. =^_^=

    An alternative Lion King 2 role play. If you've seen it, imagine Kovu went through with killing Simba and went on to become king of the Pridelands. Very well run, lots of crazy friendly people with mad skills. Recently went through a panic attack went Netrillium went down and refused to give our site back. *snarl* ANyway. You can play a lion or non leonine species. We currently have an egotistical crocodile, a deranged serval, and two very gollum like hyenas, and a wild dog or two. And can't forget Abudi, the jaguar.

    Then I came to the abrupt realization that the Topcities site seems to have vanished, and maybe that was why no one had posted. See, I didn't notice this, because Topcities had been freezing up my desktop computer for a long time, so I make my own webpage listing the boards on my own webspace. Since the Topcities site has gone away, I figured I'd post it here so that anybody who is trying to get to the NIW boards can.

    I'm suddenly very glad that I made this.

    .. that those UBER-generic fantasy games that'll let any half-tailed character in have about five times more members than well-thought games like the KRPG or even NIW? I don't understand it. It's like people are drawn to the run of the mill good-vs-evil fights and the powahz and etc.. it's starting to tick me off..
