I was looking up old character info for a DRoP re-join and ran across something odd. Google the following:

and you come up with exactly one result. I'm just wondering, is that like a really, really old version of DRoP? Because a few of the names are familiar, but... "silver Insidith"? Was it ever decided what the rules were going to be for Shrineth's flight? We've got eight dragons ready at the moment I think... which is a fair amount for any flight, even a top-ranked Queen's. But, I'm willing and ready to write out posts for all my eligible riders... if that's what you all choose... but that would pull it up to eleven (or twelve *pokes at D'tir with a stick to see if he's alive*)... and I'm sure other folks have a bunch of bronze/brown riders... It might get uber-crowded. Anywho, just let me know what's up.. I'm currently Pern addicted, yet again, and eheh... yay for RolePlaying that has been denied me for so long!!!! *maniacal laughter*

Me and Pup were thinking. There aren't enough males for Shrineth to have a full flight. So...

How about we get some plotness together? Maybe, we can have them say that all brown and bronzeriders, weyrmate or no, must join the flight, to keep Shrineth happy. Rinali has the authority to announce that. That's where you come in, GC, plus you're an Owneress. And El, we need your permission for this as well.

So, how 'bout it? It would really stir up the Weyr, and maybe even crush a few weyrmates. (I can name Elaini, A'ron, and Valor off the top of my head. =P)

Time flies... or something. I'm really, really, REALLY sorry for just vanishing like that. >_< I was just overstressed and really, really tired, and while I still had TIME to RP, technically speaking I had just no motivation. Too tired. I'd get home from work, look wistfully at the computer, and crash into bed. Work had been building up (it was an under-the-table job at the barn, basically I helped with my trainer's evening work, and she'd been doing less and less and dumping more and more on me).

Fortunately, I just lost the job in question. Since I'm still in school and all, this isn't the end of existence - I just can't buy myself any more stuff for a while. So now I'm not nearly as tired AND I have more time to RP, which is good all around. ^_^ I fully intend to pick up my activity, and I also intend to ask some of my friends to up and smack me if I don't. So I'll try to make it up to you.

Before midnight tonight I'll have replied to all my threads (off the top of my head, T'gan/D'ctor, D'minic/Trag, and the whole watchwher thing, but I'll cruise the other boards and see if there's anyone I missed or anything I can jump on and reply to). For the watchwher folks, I think I'll start a new thread at top, because the current one is fairly fall down and starting to split. Once again, I'm really, really sorry about all this.

Oh, I don't know if anyone else has tipped off El on AIM or something, but I'll mention the flight in her Livejournal, anyway. And because I'm an incorrigible meddler, I dropped in my own two cents on the idea of mustering out all males for the flight. Just in case, y'know, someone's actually interested in my thoughts on the matter....

And I'm sorry for taking so long to get back here, too. >_< I recovered enough to get to school on Monday, then discovered there'd been an Anatomy/Physiology project assigned on Friday that I missed and had to make up. And THEN there was the Girl Scout event last night. So I didn't get in more than five minutes computer time until today. But I HAVE posted! Watchwher people, I posted Yima and Yimask; Kain, I posted T'gan in the Barracks; DS, I replied to Trag with D'minic. I can't promise every-day activity for a while, because school thinks my last semester of my last year should be filled with homework, but I'll try to get on every other day at least.

For about four months, I get to go to this nice little quiet Christian college and trudge up what seems like a mountain to this Florida Gal in the snow. Whee! In addition, I get to freeze my butt off. Well, maybe I'll lose some weight that way:-p Yep... This nice little quiet place is the place where I'm going to slowly (and coldly) go insane. There's no internet connection. They're cutting off my life source O.o Heh, yeah... Anyway, I'm flying back tomorrow morning. You might not hear from me in the next four months, but when you do, I'll probably have created four more characters out of sheer boredom:-p

We're still one person shy of a full complement for the watchwher eggs. I'd like to see them hatch soon, so that we can get on with things. Surely one of you can scrape up a wher-handler? They're pretty cool critters, you know. I'm not even asking for someone who's read Dragon's Kin - handler-training is going be fairly exhaustive, since only that one book has talked much about whers. Just one handler.... If we don't get one soon, I'm gonna talk to Pup about letting that last egg hatch wild, and you'll see what I mean when I theorize that wild whers might be a nuisance.

Okay, you guys, the following is an email I recieved from Karyn, who put together the whole Alaska study last year. This is very important to me and I would appreciate if everyone at least spread the word if not wrote a letter themselves. Thanks.

Dear Douglas River research participants:

As many of you know, the Alaska Board of Game will be considering a proposal to open Douglas River to brown bear hunting after a 30 year hunting closure. There are 2 things you can do to help assure that Douglas bears are protected. 1. Write a letter to the Alaska Board of Game stating clearly that you oppose proposal #129 and provide solid reasons why it should remain closed. 2. Write a letter to the Alaska Chamber of Commerce (the regional office, Anchorage office, & Homer office) expressing your concern over the Board of Game proposal and informing them of the tourism value of Douglas. Letters are needed by February 18th. Please feel free to pass on any and all of the below information to others that might send letters. If you have any questions or need more information, do not hesitate to contact me. The state administration in Alaska and the current Board of Game are very pro-predator control and it is very likely they will try to push through the proposal to open Douglas. Your letters are VERY much needed! Please pay close attention to the below suggestions for letters.

I can not thank each and every one of you enough for caring about the Douglas bears and taking the time to assure their continued protection.

1. Alaska Board of Game Letter
Please send your comments regarding hunting of Douglas Bears to the Alaska Board of Game by February 18, 2005. Handwritten comments have the greatest impact. Mail or fax them to: Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Boards Support Section, PO Box 25526, Juneau, AK 99802-5526; Fax: 907-465-6094. BE SURE TO REFER TO PROPOSAL #: 129 and state clearly that you OPPOSE this proposal and request that the Board of Game REJECT it. State that you also oppose PROPOSAL #137 and the opening of any areas currently closed to hunting and trapping. NOTE: Do not refer to �Douglas River�. Refer to this area as the �state land south and west of McNeil River and north of Katmai National Park�. Proposal #129 proposes hunting at Douglas specifically, whereas Proposal #137 suggests a review of hunting and trapping closures in all areas in southcentral Alaska. To view proposals go to the Board of Game website at: http://www.boards.adfg.state.ak.us/gameinfo/meetinfo/gprop.php. I highly recommend that you do NOT write an emotional appeal but that you provide valid scientific and economic reasons for Douglas remaining closed to brown bear hunting. Keep letters brief and to the point.

Below is information that may assist in constructing your comments.

In nearby hunting areas, including Katmai Preserve, brown bear harvests have doubled and tripled in the past 10 years. Record harvests have occurred in the past 2 years suggesting that there is ample opportunity to harvest brown bears in existing hunted areas.
There is no evidence that bears at Douglas River consume ungulates, such as moose and caribou. One of the primary arguments for increasing predator harvests in the state is to increase ungulate populations. Movements of collared bears was primarily in tidal areas along the coast and at salmon streams away from areas where ungulate populations are found. Similarly, no sport-fishing occurs at Douglas River, so there is no direct competition between bears and anglers for salmon.
There is no consistent monitoring of bear populations in this area or the Alaska Peninsula as a whole. Current population estimates for the Peninsula have been extrapolated from 2 surveys conducted at Black Lake, over 200 miles from Douglas River, and from a single survey in Katmai National Park in the late 1990�s.
Bears of Douglas interact with people both within Katmai National Park, at McNeil River, and at Douglas. Due to the lack of hunting in those areas over the past 30 years, they lack a fear of humans and make no effort to avoid people.
Douglas has strong potential as an ecotourism site. In the past 2 years over 100 tourists visited Douglas staying for 3-7 days at a time. Over 70 of these individuals traveled from the lower 48 and therefore, contributed to Alaska tourism by staying at local Bed and Breakfasts, hiring a $500 charter flight to the site, and traveling elsewhere in the state, including Denali National Park, Anchorage, and the Kenai Peninsula. Hunting could jeopardize the ability to observe bears at Douglas and therefore, a form of revenue for the state.

2. Alaska Chamber of Commerce Letter: There are 3 branches of the Chamber of Commerce & you can send them all the same letter. It would be great if you could indicate the amount of money and time you spent traveling around Alaska (not just your time at Douglas). Specify that not only is tourism at Douglas jeopardized, but bear-viewing throughout this region would be jeopardized by opening Douglas to hunting since these bears are known to travel to a number of bear-viewing areas in Katmai Preserve and at McNeil River.

I apologize for not cutting this. If you guys can spread the word on your own journals or websites or what have you by posting this message (which is really important) or write your own letters, I would LOVE it!! I was out there, I saw those animals. Of course, I'm not going to put that in my letter, but I'm putting it here. It was an amazing experience, and they don't need to be hunted. Please help stop this from going through. The population is well balanced and hunting will be quite detrimental to the ecosystem.

I got caught up in holiday stuff, and then attacked by vicious evil college applications, and at one point I was banned from the computer for any reason other than working on the vicious evil college applications, and... I really should have at least said something here. I'm sorry. *ashamed* Until the stupid college apps are DONE (right now I need to go over some stuff with my counselor) I can't make any promises, but I'm trying to catch up with activity again. I was doing so WELL for a while there.

Anyway, for a while here I think I'll be squeezing in single posts when I can. (And right now, El, I think I have time for one Laffranth post....) Hopefully this will change when the college applications are finally sent out and Mom stops GLARING at me whenever I log onto the computer.

Ok, I have gotten the permission of Pup and her little assistant, Deystar (and I hope Grasscat approves) to join my transfer char, Ash.

She's Pern's only female brownrider, and we request it stays that way. Please? She's supposed to be 'one of a kind', and that's her way of being so. Also, she's an evil char, so if anyone wants to help me think of evil plot's with her, please e-mail me. I'd love to get her involved! She's already friend to greenrider K'mir, ALSO an evil char. So... people may be evil there. ^_^

I know I haven't been very active this past week; blame school. >_< This Monday begins exam week, and as usual, the teachers realized about two weeks ago that they still had a good 30% of the curriculum left to cover, so I've been overloaded by homework. (It didn't help that Dad dragged a box of old Doctor Who tapes out of the basement, so I've been indulging that addiction in the little spare time I've had. *blush*)

Anyway, I think I've posted everyone that's currently in a thread. If I missed someone, reply and I'll get to it Friday. Yep, I'm officially skipping out on roleplaying for all of exam week, because I'm having enough trouble with some of the subjects without neglecting my studying.

I didn't post Yima and Mikhal, because there wasn't really much to say in reply. I'm waiting on somebody actually showing up at the cave before I post her again. (Speaking of which, folks, we have two eggs left, so does ANYBODY want to be a wher-handler? Please? The poor little things need handlers.)
El, Laffranth's gone on her final dive; I had to cut the flight shorter than intended. I'll actually try to get on Monday or Tuesday long enough to finish it off, at least in the Flight Air. They won't be long posts, though, and I don't want to risk getting eaten by the computer Wednesday or Thursday nights, since I have exams the very next morning. Gisella's implementing Wessae's plan, but if you make a speech or whatever you might want to mention that it's a prelude and not a full feast. (And everyone might want to keep in mind that what's being served is things that won't keep until the next Feast, so anything that could be stuck in a refrigerator will have been so.)
Kain, since I figured you might want D'ctor free to post, I ended T'gan's post so you can just take him to the Lower Caverns or wherever, and not have to wait on me and my evil exams. Sorry I took so long to reply. =^^;;= Although I can't help finding it ironic that it was Doctor Who that distracted me from doing it sooner... I'm easily amused.

Obviously, the site is no longer mine to define such legislature, but I would like to point out that in Anne McCaffery's books females do not Impress blues; only golds, or the rare green. I have found proof of flits talking. In Dragonquest. (I think that's it's name - the one where Wirenth dies). Anyway, Brekke is talking about the flits and she says that they "Tell" her that they will look after her. F'nor says something like "of course they will" and she goes "No, they told me"
Does that count?
I was also reading The White Dragon and it occurs to me what a spoiled brat Jaxom is. And how she keeps hinting at a relationship between him and Menolly that doesn't happen. And how he's a total *ahem* to Corana.

Juno has been a thorn in my side lately, cutting off my free off line access, FF's computer has been acting up so she can't even get online, sending me her posts over E-mail. I have E-mail to check, a menagerie of chars to play, and only thirty minutes to juggle it all! So, if my posts suck, please understand that it's because of Juno, and a stupid thing my parents have against going over thirty minutes on the Comp. Sundays will be better. I have a shiny computer all my own to use then. I promise, as soon as Mom and Dad get Roadrunner, I'll be posting better and more often with more regularity.
Gain, if my posts suck, is because I am way pressed for time.
