In reply to: Edo Ikari 's message, "Move, Countermove" on 15:50:13 11/25/03 Tue

Detrik watched his minions leave with a thoughtful gaze. Once the door was closed, his eyes slowly returned to Edo. Once, he was about to speak, but the resonating Japanese song began. Suprisingly, that did not seem to annoy him, and rather, it brought a genuinely light smile to his face. He listened happily for the moment, which was soon gone, and in it's place was once more the two swordsmen, eye to eye.

"Baron Ikari. I ask that you do not thank me so hastily... and to note that Kurax and Klux are not my men by definition - rather, useful bounty hunters currently in my employ. As they have both returned the thief Ian O'Righty, and brought before me one such as yourself, I think that having them in my employ on a more permanant basis may be in order." He stopped to think over that last line, as if it had just occured to him. He added: "But I stray... allow me to familiarize a bit of myself to you.

Good Baron, niether you nor I have seen a small past. I can see that you have had your adventures, and I can tell you that my wars are behind me. I've joined armies on mountain sides, I've battled Nervosa in the Deep, and I've fought beside Dukes and Barons in lands far from here, against foes more threatening than I could have imagined. There was a time that I sought sheer martial knowlege, honing my sword skills to be as exceptional as they could be. In that time, many fell before my blade, and a great river of blood I left in my wake. Now, I grow old... and I've settled into what I believe to have been my true hobby. I was a collecter then, you see, a collecter of skill. Now I am more than that. I am a collecter of many things. I probably have a collection of such rarities as to inspire a life-time of stories to the most experienced Eshu."

He stopped, taking a sip of some fluid from a goblet on his desk. He rested both hands on his lap as he leaned against it and continued.

"I've no doubt you have realized something is unique about this manor. It is another in my collection - probably a prize, really... such a dangerous and evil place. Yet I have tamed it. I have tamed many dangerous things, Samurai. In time, even the most persistent of things will learn it's place under my mastership. Even the most experienced things. Ian took something from me. Something of my collection, and I will be getting her back soon enough, for I have tamed her - and whence I have made that mark on something, it will enevitably return to the collection. Now it appears that Ian has managed to out-manuever the house - a most impressive feat. Does it make him truly unique? A collectable? I'm not fully sure yet. There is, however, something more worthy in my attention now... oh yes, I do believe I have found a wonderful new piece to tame."
