Subject: How many years before pointe?

Hi! I am almost 15 and have been taking ballet and jazz for a year. I am anxious to start learning pointe, I've heard different views, take 2 yrs at least before starting and some people that have started after a year. In the fall, I want to start pointe. Is this a smart, good idea? Are there certain qualities that need to be in your dance to take pointe?
