Coon can be racial slur. "A coon's age" isn't a racial slur.

If you look up coon, you'll see that it means raccoon, and is also a racial slur. Look up "a coon's age", and you only find one definition--a long time. It's not used at a racial slur.

Jethro hunts coon. Elly May wants a pet coon. It's probably been a coon's age since you saw a kid wearing a coonskin cap.

I don't doubt, though, that a hyper-sensitive, under-educated, attention-seeker wouldn't try to have someone fired for saying that it had been a coon's age since he spoke to the group. Hell hath no fury like the righteously ignorant. :)
