Subject: NJO messge boards question &...
In reply to: rujane 's message, "Local vs. Syndicated/Possible changes at WOND" on 12:32:51 01/13/03 Mon

Thanks Rujane, you know,I find it difficult to read the messages at NJO. For some reason,on that kind of set-up.I cannot figure out HOW to read the messages unless I first select a message and then read that one then go back to the main messages and select another...Is it just me??? IS there a better way to open the messages all at once on that kind of board???

....I have a LOT of opinions on the topic (North Jersey LOCAL TALK RADIO)-that you brought up. Yeah-we have a real good thing here. I have even recieved email from people outside this area who would like to listen-in,looking for an online source for streaming audio.(only available that I know of right now is BOARDWALK BULLIES on WKXW website)

NJ 101.5 is statewide, good but not parochial enough for die-hard LOCAL RADIO fans.

I didn't check the message thread at NJO that you mention-but the main cause of the North Jersey problem is that the big New York stations pretty much "own" the commercial North Jersey airwaves.(as far as TALK is concerned).

Speaking of BARRY and CHAMP. A perfect example of a show that could do very well if it were syndicated OR cyber-casted online. With all of the people who visit AC, I bet they would love to win prizes for LOCAL establishments.

I haven't spent much time listening to LOCAL TALK RADIO outside the state of NJ, so I really don't know about other states LOCAL TALKERS. BUT-comparing North Jersey to what we have here, North Jersey isn't even close. WRSU FM 88.? Rutgers, has some LOCAL call-ins,but they are not really a TALK station. There are probably more????( I would hope so),but I have not heard of ANY area in NJ that serves the LOCAL TALK audience as extensivly as right here.

if we have a LOCAL TALK RADIO, line-up,that is somehow unique or particularily outstanding or different or maybe just MORE?? than other locales ,is that THIS website is always in THE TOP 5,when I key the words local talk radio,in to major search engines.

According to ARBITRON,our listening area, based on "size",is something like #135. A very small RADIO market compared to others. So I wonder where all of the other LOCAL areas are-(on the www)????

Yeah,it could be a search engine oddity or something, but I can say, based on that info. that WE are the MOST lively and active LOCAL TALK RADIO website IN THE ENGLISH SPEAKING WORLD.

Could it be possible that THIS area has THE MOST extensive LOCAL TALK RADIO on the planet????? I don't really thinks so,there are probably other areas that broadcast at least as much LOCAL TALK?????? -but, we do have something very special here.

On NJO, you do have to have a sign-in name and password to post, though you can read messages without them. Yes, each message, even if it is a response to a previous one, has a separate header, and you have to click on each header to read that message. It can be time consuming, but if the header is specific enough, you can focus on the messages you want to read.
