Ok-so here is what we are planning on serving our guests.
Shrimp platter w/lemon wedges & cocktail sauce
    Sub tray-Italian/Roast Beef & Tuna
and THAT'S IT! (we're keepin it "simple").....
OH-and a Fresh Fruit platter w/cream cheese dip
Oh yeah, and a Desert Table with Toll House Pie.....and Brie-(I might get crazy and try to BAKE the Brie!???
    Desert Wine
    Maybe some Asti?
As you can see,I am lacking a Pasta Dish.-thinking about Lasanga???-Pasta sauces don't seem to "keep" very well on a buffet table.-ok,I am really thinking of Tortellini w/sun-dried tomato & olive oil??? Sausage or Kilbalsa?? And Hor'dourvs (sp?)-(I really like the Cohen's assorted with weenies and mushroom turnovers)-but maybe cheese & crackers?...and nuts?
Or maybe,I will surprize them all and whip-up a big batch of Arroz Con Pollo???
Is anyone having "The Seven Fishes"?

"smoking"-bandied about on THE FRONT PORCH today. I found some info. online that says that DELAWARE will have some "official" reports in March on if the tough new no-smoking laws have affected slot-machine and other buisnesses.

The article linked here (click here) says that some businesses are reporting that they have lost up to 50% of customers due to the new rules.

They also mention that there is a chance that the law(s)(?) can be repealed in January,2003.

And YES-I agree that "they" have added something to butts that makes them "burn faster".

OK-I finally had to comment on the man who calls every day about "stem-cell research". I think that he should pick a different subject to call about. He called DON twice today. (once while Dr.Nahas was on).

I understand that his wife is suffering from Parkinsons.-Well I guess he really is suffering also,BUT-for one thing, that research-as far as I know is legal. It sounds like he is asking the government to pay for the research and maybe loosen restrictions on what type of research the taxpayers will support.

I personally don't want my tax dollars spent on experimenting with and killing human beings. WHY don't the drug companies sponsor the research (if it is the "legal" experiments on the clones that they are already allowed to play with?). Actually,I don't even know for sure if there are any restrictions on stem-cell research-just sanctions on what the USA will fund......

Anyhow, Parkinson's seems like a pretty common disease,so when a cure is found, the drug companies will make the profit anyhow right?- It's not like an "orphan-drug" for some rare disease that makes it too costly to develop a cure.

Well,I really do feel sorry for the caller but sometimes I wonder if he is really "for real"-or just trying to be a pest.?

If you think that Tent Lott has his foot in his mouth now....I can't wait until after he goes on BET tomorrow.

I hope that someone asks him what he meant when he said that "we wouldn't have had all those problems" if Strom Thurmond was elected President.

  • PROBLEMS! -- talkonline, 12:02:40 12/14/02 Sat
Aside from the (I hope) hijinks of the "blue cheese" hijack/hackers,that have been going on this morning,

After noticing several instances of disappearing messages, it has become (un)-apparent (pun),that something is going a little wacky here.

I just looked at a message from NJJANE who alerted us to the fact that a message was posted here yesterday that was informative and positive concerning hh.com. I saw the post on this board, concerning Mr. H's work and reporting about a recent poll at Quinipiac. UNFORTUNATELY,when I tried to find the origanal post that had somehow "vanished"-it was completely GONE. (not just removed from the board-I would be able to re-post it,but "trash-canned" IF a message gets trash-canned it is GONE!)

FYI-it is the policy of this board to NEVER "trash-can" messages,UNLESS the post has html code errors which would mess up the board. All "removed" messages are (supposed to be)-"invisable" but remain in the moderator's area.

Thank-you NJJANE for following up and alerting me to the prob. I have been wondering about this since the lovely pics of DENNIS & JUDY permanantly were "trash-canned"

It is possible that an error is occuring,or that the password got out,or that the co-mod or the other person(s) that have the p-word decided to delete the items.

For that reason,I have changed the p-word.Hope it helps sorry for the probs.

I recently sent a few e-mails to HH, telling him that I find him to be angry and dishonest. HH responds by saying he's going to notify my boss about my contact with him, and also threatens to have his lawyer come after me if I send him any more e-mails. (Note: I did NOT threaten him or say anything libelous about him-I merely stated my opinion that he exhibits a lot of anger and hostility, and often has a problem with telling the truth.)

Proposed by board Prez. HERTZOG, and respectfully questioned by everyone else.

I must say that they at least restrained themselves.-An equestrian team in Atlantic City may seem as silly as The JAMACIAN BOBSLED TEAM, but, when the college scholorships are handed out, this could be a big PLUS for ATLANTIC CITY students.

Is Harry Hurley the only fair game in town as he claims???

No way! All he does is slam Gormley in what almost appears to be some kind of stalker like frenzy. I read in The AC Press that the Callaway harassment charges have been dropped. I do not see any BREAKING NEWS from Hurley on this. I bet if he were convicted of something instead, it would be BIG news from HH. You call this fair.

Also in another observation, HH get an editor! His articles are anything but professional.
In his Bill Gormley conduct article, please help interpret this- “Gormley’s conduct has been very irratic lately…even for him…which is saying quite a bit. However, it’s know not limited to just private crazy conduct.” Shouldn’t the word know be spelled now? I think we all learned how to use these types of words in maybe 2nd grade? Oh and one more thing in the same sentence. Isn’t it Erratic and not irratic?

    Whispers-(author unknown)

The man whispered, "God, speak to me"
    and a meadowlark sang.

But, the man did not hear.

So the man yelled, "God, speak to me"
and the thunder rolled across the sky.

But, the man did not listen.

The man looked around and said,
    "God let me see you."
    And a star shined brightly.

But the man did not see.

    And, the man shouted,
    "God show me a miracle."
    And, a life was born.

But, the man did not notice.

So, the man cried out in despair,
"Touch me God, and let me know you are here."

    Whereupon, God reached down
    and touched the man.
But, the man brushed the butterfly away ...

    and walked on.

I found this to be a great reminder that God
is always around us in the little and simple things
that we take for granted ... even in our electronic age ...
so I would like to add one more:

    The man cried,
    "God, I need your help!"
And an e-mail arrived reaching out
    with good news and encouragement.

But, the man deleted it and continued crying ...

Don't miss out on a blessing
because it isn't packaged the way that you expect.

My instructions were to send this to people
that I wanted God to bless and I picked you.
Please pass this to people you want to be blessed.

    Expect the unexpected...
    Have A Happy Day!

    God Bless You.

I noticed a lot of search inquires that lead to this site looking for info. on removing the huntbar browser hijack device.

It used to be easy to uninstall the huntbar from running on your system, but the uninstall device is not easy to find at the huntbar site anymore.

Here's a link to a page that will tell you what kind of "parasite-ware" is lurking on your 'puter.parasite checker click here

I have also been using something that I downloaded at KIM KOMANDO'S site. The "win-patrol"-it is a cute little Scotty dog that barks and alerts me to cookies and un-wanted programs that have been added. The dog thingy is fairly easy to use and will let you know what is running at the start-up and in the background while you are using your computer. Removing things are a little tricky. I double-checked suspicious or unknown items by keying the names in to GOOGLE,sometimes adding (space)+startup.

Removing something called Rapid Blaster was a real bitch, and I had to go in to the registry (very dangerous territory)......but I finally got rid of it!.....

I also accidently removed my opt-out cookies while removing all of my cookies. Opt out cookies are reccomended because they will prevent certain ad-ware from surfing along with you online. I then put the opt-out cookies back on again and the Scotty dog will "keep" them while removing other cookies.(You can set any cookies that you like as "keepers"

A lot of the annoying items like "gator" (I think)-should have easy "uninstall" devices if you look around on their sites. I usually try that first if my browser gets hijacked-or my homepage gets changed,(or my search engine)....it should say something like "how did I get here?" and further down that page you should be given an option to fix it.

You know, Harry Hurley wasn't always like he is know. He used to be on in the afternoons. He used to sound like a normal human being, then. When he started doing the morning show, all of a sudden he started this machine gun like "just the facts mame" type delivery. Maybe he should go back to talking like a normal human being.

Pinky said that this was a must see movie when it first came out. That was at least 3 months ago. Most movies don't stay around more that a week or two and "My Greek Wedding" is still going strong. Has anybody seen it? Is it really that good?

The last movie that I saw was "Jackass". I probably would not have seen it if I had seen it on TV but my TV has been broken for around 5 years so I haven't seen it.

It was interesting. Probably the best segment was the guy that tried to tightrope walk over a pool of alligators and ended up hanging from the rope while the alligators snapped at him.

Always nice to hear EDDIE HICKS calling the LOCAL SHOWS. His polite way of pointing out when DON WILLIAMS has said something uh,less than politically correct, is a study in self-control and impeccable manners.

HICKS can make his point without making DON look like an ass, and without getting DON mad at being enlightened. AND-without projecting any anger on his part. Maybe a little frustration or concern sometimes?, but that adds to the DRAMA of LOCAL TALK RADIO,while keeping the conversation civil.

I haven't had a lobster in more years than I can remember. I used to love lobster when I was a kid, but nothing tastes as good now as when you were a kid.

Anyway, I was walking through the Pathmark at Ventnor Plaza and I noticed these fully cooked red lobsters sitting on ice. They weren't frozen, they were just cold, like lobster cocktail. They only cost $5.00 each, so I bought one.

You're supposed to take it home and heat it up but I didn't want to wait that long, so, I ate the lobster tail in that area where you wait for the buses. It tasted really bland. I let the seagulls have the shell to pick at but they didn't even want it.

I ate the claws later. They weren't much better.

So I've been kind of following the MISS WORLD Pageant since Rebekah Revels, the EX-Miss North Carolina was "named" as the representative for The USA. Revels was the gal whose ex sent the email to MISS AMERICA, about taking nude pics....

I say named, because I have not been able to find any info. relating to an actual "contest"-just saw something that said that she had been asked by MISS WORLD to "be" MISS USA WORLD....

The first hint of trouble was where many of MISS WORLD the contestants said that they would BOYCOTT the event, as a show of solidarity, protesting the "death by stoning" sentence, imposed on a Nigerian woman accused of adultry.

..... I believe that panties were un-bunched when,NIGERIA promised NOT to kill the woman untill AFTER the show.

    The contestents arrived in NIGERIA.

Then 2 days ago, Nigerian muzlims became aroused. They asked WWMD?-(what would muhammed do?)..The question was answered in the official local Nigerian press with a letter to muslims saying something like mohammad would see the women as some kind of harem and no-doubt choose some for himself.

Unfortunately for MISS WORLD-THAT backfired and yesterday according to REPORTS (no pictures yet? WHY)....500 were hurt and ONE HUNDRED PEOPLE WERE KILLED in the MISS WORLD RIOT.

As of today, reports say that MISS WORLD will be held in LONDON.
