Barbara the canal is ever changing and a massive building project is underway which when finished will still be less than adequate to cope with demands. the canal is now a 24hour transit in the sixties and seventys we used to anchor till the morning for transit. the first ship to transit the canal was 15/8/1914 SS Ancon. The cheapest transit was 30 cents for a swimmer in 1928 Richard Halliburton who used all 3 locks.. The largest price paid to transit was $249.165.00 by Maersk line for the Maersk Dellys on 30/05/2006. David
