Hi Barbara.
One of the greatest moments I ever had at sea was my first trip through the Panama canal, with the Mules pulling the ship through, There used to be a soldier alongside the wheelman with a loaded rifle, to make sure he kept to orders. In case you don't know in the middle they are fresh water lakes, where we used to wash the ships paintwork all over with hoses, to save our fresh water tanks.
