First update of the new year! I hope everyone is doing great and keeping to those new year resolutions. I didn't have any this year. What for? I always give'em up about a week into it. Anyway, have't had anything come up at the track lately. I know we have some good match races coming up. The Iceman bowed out of the #1 Spot and went ahead and let Charlie Deleon have it. Right away, Henry said he would race Charlie for it. So I will update the Spot after the race out of respect for Sergio. I believe we also have a challenge for the Ultimate Outlaw Spot. But I'm not sure on who is racing who yet. So I will update you all on that as soon as we get it all figured out.

Here are some pics from the last few day's of races. Some of the pics are from last Wednesday night. I didn't make it out there, but my buddy Abel did. He managed to get some decent shots for us. The other pics are a combination of pics from myself and Abel from this last Friday night. Again, not a lot going on yet. Henry was out there doing some testing in the blue '56 Chevy and managed to run some 8.30's to the 1/4 mile. Also out doing some testing was Ruben Salinas in a very nice Nova. I did manage to get a little bit of video. I will have that up tomorrow night. Well, here are the pics and the full size pic Gallery....

Better late then never right? I totally forgot I went to the track last Friday night. I didn't get much since there wasn't anything going on. Just your usual suspects. Southtexasracing.com did have some match races set up, so I figured I would get them on video for a short track action report. Also out, was the Flaming Cheeto. I don't know who was driving it, but they were making license passes in it. Also out was Charlie Deleon, making some test hits on his new combination. He is pretty confident about the new combo and see's mid 8 second passes as not a problem. Maybe Henry will get the Chevelle going and make a challenge for the #1 Spot. Here is a short video I made from Friday night.

**CLICK PIC FOR VIDEO**

As far as updates go. There are some changes at Edinburg International Racetrack for 2008. The major one is the change from IHRA to NHRA. Now, for most, this doesn't mean a lot. But for our really fast guy's, this means you will all have to get new competition licenses. And with NHRA, that means you have to get a Dr's physical. I know some guy's on here are both NHRA and IHRA legit. But if you are not, you better talk to Julio and get your passes in.

The other two changes are an increase in entry fee's at the track. They don't pertain to spectators, those prices will stay the same. The increase will be to racers on Wednesday nights. The race fee will now be $15.00 for car and driver. On Friday nights, the price is now $20.00 for car and driver. Other than that, everything else pretty much stay's the same. Again, these increases are only for those that are racing. That's it for me. Here are some random pics from last Friday night. And stay tuned for upcoming match races on the Fastest Website in South Texas, Texasdragracing.com

I SEE THAT ICEMAN IS NOT GOING TO DEFEND HIS SPOT, IS THIS CORRECT? IF SO, THERE IS NO WAY I WILL LET CABEZON JUST TAKE IT. SO WITH THAT BEING SAID, I CHALLENGE FOR THE NUMBER ONE SPOT (NO RICKI NOT THE ULTIMATE OUTLAW). JUST TO LET YOU KNOW I HAVE A SMALL 454 MOTOR IN MY UNDERTAKER CHEVELLE RIGHT NOW, SO I HAVE NO IDEA HOW IT IS GOING TO RUN. I JUST DON'T WANT TO LET CABEZON HAVE IT THAT EASY. SINCE NO ONE ELSE WILL STEP UP, I WILL.

Here we are, just an hour or so away from another new year. Spending time with family and friends and doing what is important in our lives. Don't ever forget that Drag Racing is our hobby, not our lives. All though I'm sure some of you would argue with me about that...LOL! On behalf of my family and the TDR family, I want to wish all of our fans, readers, and racers a very happy New Year! I hope this new year brings you and your's all the joys this short life has to offer. Thank the good Lord for every borrowed day and live life like it's your last day on Earth.

I was wondering if anyone got some video footage of my Z06 running a 10.48 @ 136 last night...? Tons of people were asking me what the car has. At this point the only modifications are the Kooks 1-7/8" headers w/X-pipe, Vararam cold air kit, 160 thermostat, 125hp dry nitrous kit, a nitrous tune with HP Tuners Pro and 17" E/T Street Drag Radials. Everything else on the car is BONE STOCK. I drove the car to/from Corpus with zero issues.
If anyone caught it on video, I'd REALLY appreciate if you'd post it.

Thanks!

I know, I said I would have the video's up on Sunday. And Sunday is not over yet. Just been really busy getting ready for Christmas. Been out with the wife all day doing some last minute shopping. You know how it is when unexpected company shows up from out of town. And they bring kids. You have to run out and get more gifts..LOL!...Anyway, here is the video of Sergio Jr. and Bridgi going at it for the #1 Spot. It was an awesome race with Sergio Jr. running his very first 8 second pass. Awesome race....Check out the video below by clicking on the pic....

This next short video is some unexpected video. Between helping out with pictures, I didn't know my son was also grabbing random video's. It's not a lot. But he did manage to catch Phenom making some test hits. As well as the final between Rene Deluna and Lobozon from a different perspective. I think there was a big thumb print on the lens though..LOL!...Oh well, what are you gonna do. The full Outlaw Shootout will be up in a little while. I am working on it now. Check out this video be clicking on the pic....

Missed my own deadline...LOL! Well, not really, cause the video's were uploaded to the server last night. But I fell asleep waiting for them to finish. The first video, qualifying is about 12 minutes long. Lot's of great action. In this video, Lobozon, ripped out it's own wheel tubs. The Chevy II was on a mission and they were just getting in the way. The San Antonio Outlaw cars were also out, trying their best to get a grip on our track surface. Check out the video below by clicking on the pic. It's a huge file, so give it some time to load.

Up next is the finals video. Remember I told you Lobozon ripped out it's wheel tubs? You can see the results of that every time Rick made a pass. The cabin filled up with so much smoke, Rick told me he could not see anything by the 330 foot mark. He just hung on tight to the steering wheel and let Lobozon guide the way. The look of that car going down the track with smoke blowing out of it is just awesome. Got to give credit to the San Antonio Outlaws for giving it their best. One of the crew guy's told me, "We pull timing out and the car slows down. We add more timing and it over powers the track." Well, as you can see in the video, some of our guy's were running into the same problem. Check out the video. It's the best racing of 2007.

What can I say about last night other than WOW!!!....What a night. It was everything I had hoped and dreamed of. The race turned out with just the right mix of cars. A couple of Pro Stockers, a few Pro-Mods, some True 10.5 Turbo cars and some Outlaw 10.5 nitrous monsters. I said it would be something the Valley had never seen before and I was right. Aside from a few breakdowns in the first round, the race was simply amazing!

And speaking about amazing. How about that Lobozon Chevy II out of Area 51 Racing! This car is brand new guy's! It had just a couple of day's to test & tune and it came out to put a whoopin' on anything and everything that lined up against. Rick Garcia, the driver, did an amazing job of taming the beast and getting it down the track without so much as a scratch. We are now calling Rick, The Horsepower Whisperer...LOL!...Cause he has a knack for calming down these unruly beasts and getting them to do what he wants. Congratulations to all of the BENGAR crew and Area 51 Racing for not only setting the ET Record of the night with a 4.86 @ 144mph, but also winning the over all race. Great job guy's. If this is just the beginning of Lobozon, I pitty anyone who happens to line up against this monster. For all of their hard work, they took home the big prize money, the $250 for the fastest ET and a very nice trophy from Thomae Nitrous Supply.

In second place was none other than Rene Deluna and the Phillip Nelson owned Snap On Cutlass. If any car posed a threat to everyone, this car was it. Running on rails on rails all night and a string of 5.00's almost guaranteed the win for the Snap On crew. But it was not to be. With a race that will forever be in my memory, Rene left hard on Lobozon and it was a big surprise to all of us, including Rene to see the Chevy II come around him at the 1/8 mile with smoke coming out of every opening in the car. Awesome final guy's! We could hope for none better. For their work, Rene Deluna took him $750 and another nice trophy from Thomae Nitrous Supply.

And our 3rd place winner was also our biggest sponsor and the only True Street car running in this race. I am talking about Angel Padilla and the crew from Pro Tech Performance out of Weslaco, Texas. These guy's went in knowing they were bringing a pocket knife to a missle fight. But Angel was not about to miss this race and a chance at getting back some of his money. Unfortunately, the only Chevy part on this Turbo Mustang gave out. The Powerglide transmission was not up to the task and gave up the ghost. Angel said he's got some more work to do. But he will be ready for any other race we come up with. Good job guy's.....

Again, I want to thank everyone who came out to race with us last night. For the fans that could not make the race, check us out tomorrow (Sunday). I will have the full qualifying rounds and all of the final rounds. As well as the #1 Spot race between The Iceman and Bridgi, where Sergio Jr. (Iceman) ripped out a very impressive 8.94 @ 151mph pass. So stay tuned for more action.....

Here we are, race day. Cars are being loaded all over Texas for a trip down South to see what this whole Outlaw race is all about. And what is it about? Well, it's about putting on one big show for the readers and race fans of Texasdragracing.com. I know we have some soldiers in Iraq that read our website. And I am sure they would love to see nothing more than their favorite Texasdragracing.com racers go headsdup against some of the fastest cars in Texas. That would be a nice Christmas gift.

It's also about sending out 2007 with a big bang. It's about all of the fastest cars in the Rio Grande Valley letting it all hang out! If you were to throw all the boost at it. All those nitrous kits. All that stuff you have been bragging about all year, if you only had a chance and there wasn't an index to slow you down. Well, here is your big chance. Pill it to kill it. Boost it to the sky. When that green light comes on, drop the hammer to the floor and leave it there until your vision blurs and the force of the parachute pulls you back!

And finally, this is a test. Do we have what it takes to compete in a world outside of the Valley? Is it true the Valley has slow cars? Is it true the Valley is full of crybabies? I don't think so. I think when pushed, we will push back. And unlike a barking dog, Valley racers have no bark. We will just take a huge chunck out of your ass without even a warning and send you packing! This is it boy's and girl's. This is what we have been working hard for. Here is your chance. Some really fast cars are coming to invade your home. Now the question is, will you cower under your bed and watch it go down? Or will you come out, weapons fully loaded and ready to fire?

See you all at the races tonight!....

Went out to the track last night to see what was up! I knew Alex from Southtexasracing.com had some match races setup and I helped them out with the video's. While I was doing that, my friend Abel came out and took care of the pics for us. I always appreciate any help I can get. Out doing some test passes was Angel Padilla in what has become a Wheelstanding car now. Angel has been trying some new things and the turbo coupe keeps going for the sky on launch.

Also doing some testing was "Lobozon" from Area 51 Racing. Word is it ran in the 5.00's. I am sure there is plenty more left. I also saw Philip Nelson out testing his Pro Stock Cutlass. This car is supposed to be out tomorrow night. But without the big Hood Scoop!...Here is a very short video of the test hits, a picture gallery and some random pics.

Weather is looking great for Friday. I have been getting a lot of calls from racers wanting more information on the race. And a lot of fans wanting to know who is racing? I can tell you that the Valley is going to make a strong showing. Expect to see some Valley racers break into the 4 second zone for their very first time. This race is going to put our little race track on the BIG DOG map like no other. No one, no one has ever thrown cars like this into one big rumble and let them all fight it out until only one Big Bad Dog remains standing!

Another question that has been asked is, how is the race going to be run? Well, we threw some ideas around. And it seems the Pro Street format is preferred by everyone. Some guy's don't want to just make one hit and that's it. So to give everyone a better chance at the money, the plan is for TWO QUALIFYING PASSES. This way, if you have problems on your first hit, you can come back and make another hit and hopefully make the TOP 16! Of course, the race will be run on a Pro Tree and another question is, should we run Autostart or should the treeman control the tree? What are your opinions on that?

I hope this helps everybody out who was having second thoughts about racing and we hope to have a great turnout! By the way, GET THERE EARLY! for the best parking spots. Especially you guy's with enclosed trailers. If we run out of room, there is always room on the back runway of the track. Stay tuned for any more updates and post up if you have any questions.

Just when you thought it was safe and time to take it easy. We get these private pics of the goings on at Area 51 Racing. Word is the paint is the same radar invisible paint used on the Stealth Bomber by the U.S. Military. The engine is so powerful they are still trying to figure out how to keep it all under control and the goal is to "slow it down" a bit. To give others a chance to keep up. Will we see this U.F.O. at the Ultimate Outlaw Race on the 21st? Come on out and find out.

The buzz on the streets right now is, who is coming out to race on the 21st? Who is coming in from out of town? Who from the Valley has the guts to come out and go headsup against some of the fastest cars in all of South Texas? There are rumors of Jeff Naiser making the trip. But I know that's not going to happen. I really don't think Jeff knows where we are located any more than John Force or Billy Glidden does. But you know what, after this race, they just might. You see, our Ultimate Outlaw is like a Clash of The Titans race, a World Street Finals race and an NHRA National event all rolled up into one. This is going to be a knock down, balls out, all out brawl. We aren't breaking it down into classes, HELL NO!!!...It's everyone VS everyone!..1/8 Mile, Headsup and NO CRY BABIES ALLOWED!......

Speaking of Pro Stocks, how about the team of Luis Vela? That's right, Luis wants in on this history making event. I told him, rip off the big scoop and come on! I figured he would say, naw, I don't want to mess with the car. But his reply was, HELL YEAH! I'm in! Word is a new hood is already on order and will be ready for the 21st. Now I know his Cavalier is fast, but something tells me they better throw some laughing gas on that sucker if they even want to be in the mix.

Right now, you might be scratching your head, wondering. Why would a 4 second all motor Pro Stock need nitrous? He's got the thing won right? Well, not exactly. You see, he will have to go up against Pro Mods!..No this isn't a big Nitro Burning Pro Mod like Gaylen Smith runs, but it is close to enough to scare the living crap out of you. Aubie Barron's 1955 Pro Mod is one of them Automatic Pro Mods and it runs on alcohol. What does it run you ask? How about some 7.50's at more than 180 miles per hour! Aubie told me he is not set up for 1/8 mile, but he will give it a run. Like he said, I'm bored and the 55 need's to stretch it's legs a little.

Speaking of Pro Mods! How about Ray Jasso and the San Antonio Outlaws? That's right, they are making their way back down to the Valley on the 21st. They are on a quest to take home some shopping money and try to conquer our local track. They had a hard time slipping and sliding the last time they were down here. Maybe this time they will pull a little bit of boost out of their combinations and things will go better for them. Ray told me, counting Aubie's 55 Chevy, they will be bringing a total of 4 cars for this race.

I know some of these out of towners feel like it might be easy pickings. But they are not counting on our local racers stepping up the game big time! A team that has already done that is the team of Garcia's Racing. Sometime during the night, in a secret lab, they managed to cut, chop and re-weld enough metal out of the way to fit a 700+ cubic inch howitzer between the fenders of the beautiful 1956 Chevy Shoebox. ET's in the 4 second range will not be a problem at all. And a big load of giggle gas will be standing by. Just in case it's needed. Or who knows, they might use it anyway, just because it's there....

Lot's of local teams are getting ready for this race. Teams we can't forget are Ben-Gar Racing. I heard the Flaming Cheeto was out doing some test hits on Saturday and was making mid 5 second passes look easy. And Jeff told me they have some other Area 51 type secret stuff in the works. Then there is the team from Pro-Tech Performance. These guy's have some of the fastest turbo cars in South Texas. One that has already been 4.50's before.

And what about the Snap On team? Word is they are pumping over 1200hp out of their Pro Stock Cutlass and are looking for more power as we speak. And of course, we can't forget Henry "The Undertaker" Thomae. A new De Leon Racing Engines bullet is already in the car and Henry is not going to make it easy for anyone else. Mark your calenders for Friday night, the 21st of December. Texasdragracing.com, Ben-Gar Racing, Pro-Tech Performance and Thomae Nitrous Supply are going to bring you the BIGGEST OUTLAW RACE the Valley has ever seen. Ultimate Outlaw Shootout!...Only on The Fastest Website in South Texas. Texasdragracing.com.....

Congratulations again to Henry Thomae and Crew. As if winning the 2007 championship wasn't enough, Henry went all out Friday night and won the last race of the season. Rick Garcia, driving the Black Bastard gave it a hell of a run, but got caught off guard at the lights and the race was over before it began. It's cool watching Henry and Rick go at it at EIRT, after seeing race each other at the RGV Mud Drags, in Los Fresnos, Texas. Good job guy's, you are all winners and Rock Stars in my book.

We also have to give major kudos to Ed Galbraith for driving his small block powered Vega Wagon to a win in the 9.90 Super Rod class. He was up against some heavy hitters like Tony Rosio, Luis Vela, Paul Ebrom and Sergio Paez. But he still managed to fend them all off and end up in the finals against Mario Cantu, who went a little too fast and broke out. Good job Ed. And good job to Mario Cantu. Hey, being too fast is a nice problem to have right.

Kept the video's short on quantity, but high on quality this time around. This mean, no track action video. But I did get some great Pro-Street and Super-Rod footage. Because of the high quality, the files are pretty big. Not so much if you have high-speed internet. But if you have dial-up. Might as well go to the library and watch them from there...LOL!...Or, you can "right click/save target as" and just download the video to your computer before watching it. Well, that is it for me. Don't forget our big Outlaw race next Friday night. See you all out there...

Someone was asking about Juan Molina earlier. Like Rick said, Juan is just fine and the car is too. Nothing more is needed than a rubber bumper and a headlamp. I know of a certain racer on our site who owns a junk yard called "Charlie's Auto Parts" who probably has a few of those parts laying around. Hey Molina, get that monster fixed and ready for next week. Or how about you bring out that badass called The One Bad Bird! Which ever car you bring out, we look forward to having you race with us.

All right, I am already working on the video's from Friday night and yes, I did get Molina on video scrapping the wall a bit. So make sure you check out the Pro-Street video. For now, here is the picture gallery and some random shots. Just as an FYI, I usually update the main page, WWW.TEXASDRAGRACING.COM before I update the board. Go check it out, the picture gallery is also on there towards the bottom.
