Date Posted:16:14:10 08/21/10 Sat Tonight is the monthly Chic-Fil-A Cruise In in Mission, Texas. This is by far the largest cruise in held in South Texas. We usually see about 50-60 cars show up and a ton of car fans. Come on out, bring a lawn chair and spend some time checking out sweet rides. As a bonus, Chic-Fil-A gives out free chicken sandwiches to the first 50 cars. Cars start arriving around 6pm and the shows goes on till about 10pm or later. See you all out there.

There will be mud races today in Los Fresnos starting at 7:30. It has been a long time since we had a mud race, so all trucks are tuned up and ready to go. Come on out to Los Fresnos and enjoy the fun. There is gonna be a hell of a show. There is a race set between, Thomae and Jimenez. Yes the same pair that raced the other day in Edinburg are going at it in the MUD now.

This truck has a 665 cu. in. all aluminum Big Block Chevy in it with three stages of NOS. Should be interesting to see this this baby fly.
This truck has a 600 inch BBC on alky and nitro and one stage with the big pills in it! Which one is gonna take the win? Head out to Los Fresnos and check it out for youreself, you will not be disapointed.
Date Posted:10:08:28 08/08/10 Sun I am sure some of you have already heard that the race this Friday for the Ultimate Outlaw spot ended with Sergio Jimenez, tagging the guardrail. The good news is that he walked away without a problem. The car on the other hand will be needing some cosmetic work. So it will he heading to the body shop asap. Don't want to sit here and speculate on what caused the Lumina to make a sharp turn to the right. But I will say that this is at least the 3rd or 4th car do this at the same spot. Things could also have been much worse had Henry Thomae's "Overtaker" Nova, not spun hard at the line. Imagine if Henry had been right next to the Lumina as it shot across into the spectator side lane. Looks like we dodged a bad one and everyone walked away counting their blessings. Here is the video of the race with a slow motion replay of the crash.

Date Posted:21:45:58 08/02/10 Mon Got the race for the Real Street Spot done on Friday. Fred and JP went at it around 10pm. The race looked like it was going to be close, but JP had some problems. Fred, in the spectator lane, didn't know that and stayed in it for all the glory. Unfortunately, Fred let it all hang out and went an 11.47, under the 11.50 index, giving the race to JP. Congrats to JP, our new spot holder in the Real Street spot. Here is the video from the race.
After the race was done, Fred asked me what it would take for him to take the Limited Street spot? I told him I would prefer he race someone for it. But, seeing as to how no one is racing anyway, I told him he could have if he could back up his last time. So Fred went out there, let it rip and went even faster, knocking out another sub 11.50 pass. So that makes Fred our new Limited Street spot holder....congrats.
I wanted to give you all an update on the spots. I went ahead and changed Limited Street to an 11.00 Index. In hopes that we can get more races going. I don't want to get into the rules right now, but I will say that Limited Street is basically the same rules as Real Street. Cars have to be tagged and legal for street use. There is no tire limit, but cars must be street cars.
We also changed Pro Street to a 10.00 Index class. Rules are the same as the other two classes, cars must be street type cars with headlights, working taillights, turn signals and such. They don't how ever have to be street legal. Again, no tire limit in this class and cars can run open headers. Hope to see some challenges to this one soon.
I want to invite you guy's to give us some feedback on what you would like to see in the rules for these classes, without getting too crazy. If you have something to say, post it up. We want to hear your opinion. What do you think about True 10.5? Which right now is an unlimited ET class. And what about Ultimate Outlaw? Post up, let's see what you all are thinking.

Looked like action was picking up on Friday night. There pits were absolutely packed with racers and test & tuners. Hope this is a sign of things to come. Hey, did you all know Friday night was Ford -vs- Chevy Night? Yeah, me neither...LOL! Too bad nobody from the track called me, we could have set up some Ford -vs- Chevy match races. Date Posted:09:17:55 08/02/10 Mon We were getting the cars ready to head out to the Mireles Fruit Stand on Saturday when my neighbor's little boy came over. His name is "Polito" and Saturday was his birthday. He had just turned four and he told his Mommy he was old enough to go cruising with us...LOL! So we went ahead and added him to the TDR Crew. Here is a picture of the little guy riding in the Wagabu on his way to Weslaco. With the wagon riding on 4.56 gears right now, we took it nice and slow. So slow that Polito fell asleep..haha. Don't know how he did it with all the noise from the mufflers and gear noise. But it looks like it was not bothering him at all.
Here is a picture of him standing in front of one of his favorite cars at the show. Looks like the kid has a taste for Mopar's and Ford's...oh boy! Polito is always at our house, watching us work on the cars and asking if he can help. Looks like we got ourselves another Hot Rodder. Guy's, this is what the cruise in's are all about. Bring out the little one's and show them the rides. Our next step for Polito will be to take him out to the race track. Who know's, maybe I can convince his Dad to get him a Jr. Dragster...LOL! That would be cool.
The Wagabu has been out and about lately. With the show in Weslaco being the farthest driven yet, due to the 4.56 gears. I have an overdrive transmission being built already and we will be changing out the gears soon. Other than that, the Wagabu is running great. We dropped the engine in and have not touched it except for an oil change since we got it back from Deleon Racing Engine's. It run's nice and cool even with the factory radiator. That will have to be changed once we connect the A/C back up. But with back-to-school going on, we will have to hold off a bit on working on it. But we are not done with it yet.

We might not be able to afford racing right now. But we can certainly afford to spend some time with our families and some cool street machines. I need a th350 4x4 transmission rebuilt and cheaper the better. Anybody know someone out there who does quality work for a good price? I figured I would ask you guys since you know most of the good transmission rebuilders. Transmission needs to be build for rockcrawling abuse, not so much horsepower etc. Thanks-------------

Henry is right, it does slow down around the Summer months. But never has it slowed down as much as it has this year. The 2010 racing season just seems worst than most. Let's go back to 2008 and 2009 to see what was going on around this time last year.
Hope you all enjoyed that little blast from the past. We will try to post up more video from day's past to help us pass the hard times. And we might have some other video footage stored in the vaults some where. And, if you want to make history, post up a challenge and lets see if we can get some spots moving.

Date Posted:22:51:59 07/21/10 Wed Here are a ton of pics from last Saturday's South Texas College Weslaco, Show & Shine. Let me tell you, Saturday was one hot son of a gun. But we still had a great time at the car show. There were 39 cars registered but over 50 cars showed up. We got to help out Xavier Leal, judge the cars and hand out trophies to the winners. It was our first time judging cars and it is a lot harder than I thought it would be. Especially when all of the cars were super nice. Guy's, bring out your cars to the shows. They are free to enter and are always for a good cause. This show was to collect care packages for the troops fighting overseas. Overall it was an awesome day. Enjoy the pics and see you all at the next show.

Rene Reyna, automotive instructor at Mission High School, has 18 free tickets to give away since he will not be attending. If anyone wants some tickets let us know. I am going to pick them up from him today after work. And we will be in McAllen, Tx. at the Shakes Ice Cream store, on N. 10th St., later tonight for their Thursday night cruise in. And yes, the Wagabu will be there too. Post up or give me a call if you ar interested in some tickets. If you have no clue what the ADRL is, then go to Youtube and check out their races. Like the NHRA, except these dudes run huge turbo's and crazy amounts of nitrous. All the stuff we love.

It was a great way to end the night. We had a cool breeze, some good food and plenty of bench racing with friends. Come on out to the weekend cruise in's dudes. Promise you all will have a great time for zero dinero.

Hate to do it but it's gotta go. The trailer has everything you need. Built in cabinets, black and white checkered floor, lighting (inside and outside), and even A/C. It can handle up to 10,000 lbs. This is not the case. The race track will remain open all Summer long. The track was going to close for repaving. But conflicting schedules with the paving company prevented this from happening. Hope this clears everything up! See you all out there!!!.....

It was a slip and slide pedal fest till the end, with Fred coming out on top. Good job dudes. You all put on an awesome race for the fans. Now lets see who has the guts to take on Fred.

Finally fired up the engine in the Wagabu today. And I got to say, it sounds a lot better sitting in the car..LOL! Not bad for a small cam, pump gas 408 cube small block. I just can't thank Deleon Racing Engines enough for all of the hard work they put into this engine. This is not at all the same engine I brought them. It is a totally new animal that idles great, fires up easily and will make people do a double take when they hear it coming down the road. Here is a little video we put together on initial start up, open headers...heh. Stay tuned for more updates.

A drag racing driver ran through a containment area at the end of a track and died of head injuries after crashing his alcohol-fueled funny car at a “high rate of speed” during a qualifying round at the NHRA SuperNationals at a New Jersey raceway Friday, state police said.
Neal Parker, 58, of Millville, N.J., crashed at Raceway Park in Old Bridge, state police Sgt. Stephen Jones said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Parker was entered in the Top Alcohol Funny Car competition. The crash occurred shortly before noon.
I think he crashed at the same track as Scott Kalitta. Folks, it can happen at any track to anyone at anytime.

WOW I just read this too;
Mark Niver, 60, died at Pacific Raceways on Sunday after his Top Alcohol dragster ran off the end of the racetrack and crashed into netting. Niver, who owned a machine shop in Phoenix and had been racing more than 40 years, won his semifinal race and then died after his parachutes did not deploy at the finish line while he was traveling at 271 mph. His race car skidded through the gravel at the end of the track and then buckled when it hurtled into netting.
We hope his last memory was seeing his win light, Demke said.

TEXAS TOPS CRUISE IN - 6:00PM until ???
Located in McAllen, Texas, Texas Tops holds a monthly cruise in for all hotrodders. The cruise in is absolutely free and open to any cars. The first 50 cars get a free ice cream cone courtesy of Dairy Queen. Texas tops is located on Old 83 and McColl Rd, West of Expressway 83.
EDINBURG INTERNATIONAL RACETRACK BRACKET BASH - Gates open at 4:00pm, racing starts at 6:00pm.
The once a month Saturday Bracket Bash is on tonight at Edinburg International Racetrack. BBQ pits are always welcome and kids under 12 are free with a paying adult.
There you have it. We of course will be doing both. We will be heading out to the cruise in for a little while. Then make our way over to Edinburg Racetrack. See you all out there tonight.

Hey Tommy, the Phenom has not been sold! Its been in Dallas getting upgrades to accommodate rules for ORSCA. We have been absent for a while and missed alot of races. Rules or no Rules, we coming out to get sum!!
