Dianthe, eat what you want girl! There are always going to be horror studies about what happened to "someone" who ate this or that, and that's not just pregnant women. When I was pregnant, I drank Dr Peppers all day long, ate hot dogs, lunch meat, fast food, and all the other things you aren't supposed to eat, and in spite of all of this, my son is now on the Dean's List!

And for a newer reference, my 2 wk old grandson is just fine even though his Mom, my daughter, ate lunchmeat, hot dogs, junk food and drank Cokes all day long. He is perfect in every way.

So eat up and enjoy this time in your life!

I seriously got so worked up about the actual process of giving birth I thought my hubby was going to slap me. Once I realized they were "CRAZIES" I was able to try to get over my fears. . .

Like ya said.. the mack truck / car wreck is more likely to happen than the statistics ya hear of.. I just don't know why people tell pregnant women that.. do you think it is helping?? Ummm NO!

The PC/PP people are just bonkers especially the person posting that one Coke a day caused pregnancy complications. They all need to mind their own business, stop being judgemental of pregnant women who...oh...heaven forbid...eat a HOT DOG and understand that while neurotic and obsessive tendencies may work for them some of us will listen to what our doctors say and enjoy our coffees, cokes, hot dogs and donuts in moderaton. Sheesh.

You and I are way too much alike! Some of these people on this board wear me out! You do and eat what you please and what makes you feel good! Your doctor will tell you what you can and can't do. So many people are experts, WHATEVER! Regarding the body pillow, get one! I had a generic, nothing special, Bed Bath & Beyond body pillow for both of my pregnancies, (one is 3 and 12) and I got so used to sleeping with it that I cannot go anywhere and sleep comfortably unless I bring that pillow. You will sleep much better with it! Good luck in your pregnancy!

I learned very quickly my first pregnancy not to listen to them, and not to be like that to others. My advice to women I know with the first is not to listen. Or to listen with a grain of salt and do what feels right for you and baby. Doing what feels right for you and your family is always what I tell people, you will always know what that is. Everybody is sooooo different and experiences life very differently. Besides all that in the first tri-mester you eat what sounds good, if I ate something that didn't sound good of didn't smell good it came back up! In my opinion you are doing great! Enjoy every min of being pregnant and feeling that baby kick and move around, it is wonderful!!!!

Just wondering if you are feeding your growing baby any nutritional foods? Sounds like you are enjoying all the junk food but you don't talk about eating lean meats, fruits, veggies?? Try to stear clear of any caffeine. (It caused the babies heart rate to increase) I know two friends that drank a coke a day and both were told the babies had complications. One has a whole in his heart and the other is ok. Guess that is why they recommend we not do it. Good Luck.

Hey Girl, be thankful. I know your birthday this year wasn't like you'd hoped but you can think of me. I was supposed to have my baby on Jan. 2, 2005, however, she had other plans. Imagine being 9 months pregnant on your birthday, you don't really do anything because you're just miserable and then at 10:00pm on your birthday, your water breaks. I stayed up all night because since it was a trickle, I wasn't sure if I was so big I was peeing or my water broke. No contractions. At 6:00am the day after my birthday, I called the doctor and woke up my husband. I had her that afternoon at 2:54pm. Anyway, now, for the rest of my life, I will always celebrate her birthday and make sure she feels special. Some people had the idea of combining birthdays but I don't think it's fair for her. I love my child more than anything in this world and giving up being "special" on my birthday is a small deal for me.

I CANNOT WAIT FOR LIZ & JASON TO BE TOGETHER!! Poor Liz finally has sex with Lucky after marrying him & dreams of Jason afterward. Guess she thought sleeping with Lucky would help her get over Jason & stop thinking about Jake for a while...yea, that backfired! If you really want to get a machine...check out the Sewing Room in Frisco...they are awesome and have great machines...plus the owner knows all about them so when it breaks, they can fix them for you. You get a free lesson on how to use it, etc...and they are really nice. I have my machine from there and I use it all of the time!

Dianthe...EBAY!

For real..I got a $500.00 baby bedding set for my daughter for only $100.00. It is divine!

You really need to look at Ebay for that. If I can remember the people I bought mine from (they sell baby bedding exclusively), I'll post the link for you here.

And look..the next month is just gonna be blah. I had morning sickness everyday with my first and only the first three months with my last. Every baby is just so, so different. But oddly enough, my first pregnancy, minus the morning sickness, was my best because even though I threw up everyday of my pregnancy, my child never kicked me hard enough to dislodge my bladder or my ribs. Now my second...lol..she was a SPITFIRE..lol. She still is!

We were in the bed one Saturday morning..I turned my pregnant belly with my second child in it towards my husband's back and WHAM...she kicked him HARD in the back and he thought it was me..lol.

Every baby= different. Just enjoy the moment, sick or not. It will be baby's birthday time before you know it. ;)

You will eventually feel normal and the thought of food will not make you feel naucious. Then you will stuff your face. Don't worry about the pizza. It's only bad when all you eat is bad stuff. Being pregnant doesn't mean you can't enjoy things. Just wait, you will be eating rice and sweet and sour sauce by itself in no time. You want what you want and no really stops you. Just drink lots of water to help flush out the salt. You'll be good....

Hi Dianthe -

Apparently my mother had very bad morning sickness when she was pregnant with me. One of her mother's friends finally told her how to get over it. First thing in the morning (if you are sick at that time of day) go straight to the refrigerator and get a teaspoon of lemon juice. If you can't swallow it at least stick your tongue in it. It helped her immediately. I was lucky enough to not have any with either of my children but I had a friend that had morning sickness very badly. I told her about it and she went to the store and bought lemon drops candy that she could keep in her purse. Anytime she felt like she was going to be sick she would pop one in her mouth and suck on it! It worked!!! Hope it works for you too! Congratulations on the baby!

I had "all-day sickness" with baby #1...throwing up at all times of day. I figured out with her that a lot of my nausea was due to the prenatal vitamins I was taking. Once we switched to a different kind, it made all the difference in the world. I started off with those with baby #2 and was rarely sick. You might ask your doctor about it.

See, I've obsessed about wasting the last of the hair gel, shampoo, toothpaste, soap, etc. I mean, if they are going to put that much in the bottle they could at least make sure that the little pumping stick tube thing goes all the way to the bottom, or at least closer than 1/4 of the way from the bottom! Right? Anyway, what I started doing was cutting the bottle or tube in half with a knife or scissors and just scooping it out like that, or pouring it into the new container. That's what works best for me!

Oh, yeah, and good luck with your pregnancy!!! And eat all the ice cream, cookies, etc. that you want--your body knows when to stop overdoing it and it will kick your butt for you ;)

Her girl, Congrats on the pregnancy. I learned a few cures for nausea just as I stopped being nauseous. I tell you I had it bad. Anyway. Ginger Ale (the ginger is supposed to be a natural anti-nausea cure), sucking on peppermints (peppermint is supposed to be the same) and I also heard a wives tale from someone that they ate a cup of vanilla ice cream every night and they were never nauseous again. They swore this works. I know the ginger ale and peppermint work, but the vanilla ice cream I'm not sure, but it's worth a try!!

By the way, I hope Kellie is ready for the "nothing sounds good" phase. My hubby used to get so mad at me because we would go somewhere and just as we were pulling up I would say "I don't want this", very frustrating for you and him.:)
Also, at first I didn't have a craving for sweets either (and I should be in sweets rehab!) but later in my pregnancy though I started to crave them again.

Just above all, get ready because it is a fun, mysterious ride!!

I was listening to the show when you announced your pregnancy and wanted to say congratulations!! I am so excited for you. I am in my 11th week of my second pregnancy. I enjoy reading your blog because now I have someone to relate to. I don't know why but I look forward to reading about what you are going through knowing that I am not the only one out there that feels the exact same way you do. I know it is easy to say "I know how you feel" but I seriously do. With my first pregnancy I gained 10 pounds in one month and my doctor asked me if I wanted to talk to a dietician. I was so upset. He just assumed that I was eating unhealthy(like some of the people that have commented to your blog) but if he would have noticed that I was underweight when I got pregnant maybe he would have realized that I needed to gain a little more weight than other women. Anyway, keep up the good work. I say that it is not good to deprive yourself of the foods you crave. It will only make yourself feel worse to not eat them. I hope food starts tasting better for you soon. Food did not taste right for me until two weeks before I had my first baby. I thought this pregnancy would have been different but I am going through all the same symptoms again. Don't pay any mind to people who tell you what you should and should not do (except for you doctor) It will only stress you out more. Do what you feel is right:)

PS. I love the way your Dad sticks up for you in your blogs. He is great:)

The other thing that gets me is how flippen tired I am. I seriously can be sitting there, talking to my hubby and the next thing I know I wake up in a puddle of drool saying "Huh, what, why"

Pregnancy is such an amazing thing, but please dont take it for granted. Take it from someone who was pregnant with triplets, thought I could still keep my regular routine/lifestyle, and ended up having them early. They only lived about an hour, and after you bury three babies you realize how precious and fragile life is. Please take it easy and enjoy 9 months of being babied and pampered. Best of luck to you, and again, congrats.

Hey Dianthe!
The pictures of your night time bloating were hysterical! Exactly like I was! Don't worry about the food so much. I'm sure your doctor will tell you the same thing mine told me. I was soooo sick that I wasn't holding down anything! He assured me that as long as I kept my self hydrated, that I'd be fine until the 2nd trimester. Good thing too because that's about all I got down for the 1st 3 months! That and a few handfulls of plain cheerios. Yuck! Like a previous poster mentioned, I actually lost weight at first. But now at 26 weeks, I've gained almost 20 lbs and the doctor is telling me to expect a big baby! Continued luck and keep the humerous commentary coming :)

Congrats on your baby news!!
You don't need to worry about the eating thing yet. Remember, the baby is the size of a pea, so your goal right now is just to eat enough for you. A lot of people even loose weight during the first trimester due to morning sickness. Your second trimester is when you need to be concerned about adding calories to your diet. You should not even gain weight during your first trimester, though I did!!!
I am 25 weeks preggo now with #2 and am JUST NOW getting to where I am a hoover vacuum cleaner. So it will come with time, trust me.

Enjoy this time now to eat cupcakes guilt free, and not having to suck in your stomach.

Congratulations, Dianthe! Just want to tell you, stop buying "unisex" clothes. You won't put them on the baby. As soon as the baby is born and its a little girl, you'll want girl stuff and if its a boy, you'll want boy stuff. I too was so excited to shop and did the same thing and neither of my kids wore the unisex stuff. Save your money for fun maternity clothes and for after the baby is born. Don't let anyone harass you about what you eat and by all means, have a cup of coffee. Make yourself happy, this is the end of your world as you know it! Best wishes!

Hey Dianthe! So happy for you! Please pass along the website addresses of the cool stuff you find online. Even though we're not pregnant yet, I'm a big fan of shopping (more like hopeful wishing) online. Now go take a nap, because I will need mucho details of your shopping adventure. :-)

Hi Dianthe! I noticed on your blog that you found celebrity-babies.com. Another great site that you should check out is truemomconfessions.com. Moms can go on the site and leave annonymous confessions about being a mom. There is also a sister site truebrideconfessions.com and truedadconfessions.com

Hi Dianthe!

Would you ever have time to email back and forth about your business? I have always been interested in event planning and would love to discuss the pros and cons of what you do...someday, I'd like to break into that field - maybe not as my own business...but with a company.

Congrats on your pregnancy!

Since you are in the DFW area, you need to check out a store called Japanese Weekend Maternity. Weird name I know, but they have the cutest clothes. They are based in CA and we are lucky enough to have one store here in Plano at the Shops at Willow Bend. I bought so many of my maternity clothes there and they said that a lot of ladies who aren't even pregnant shop at their store. They have really unique stuff. I will say that some of their things can be a tad pricey. Check it out - very cute clothes that don't make you feel like a big cow ;)
