I took yoga before I was pregnant (now 6 mos.) and switched over to prenatal yoga during my second trimester. I have to say that the prenatal yoga is a little boring compared to normal yoga, especially at the beginning. However, as your belly grows, the "lame" poses become more difficult to maneuver. Also, I joined a prenatal water aerobics class. I normally hate the water, but it feels good to be able to feel light and move around easily in the water. And you will start to feel better, though things will continue to taste weird from what you are used to. For the longest time, I couldn't eat chicken, but I'm back to normal as long as its not a big ol' chicken breast. Good luck!

I know how much you wanted this and I'll be d@mned... You got it.

I wish you so much joy and "wonderfulness"... I'm speechless. And I don't know why, but I'm crying! I'm just so freakin' happy for you, Dianthe.

That's all the words I can muster cuz I can't see my keyboard anymore...

Congrats on the pregnancy! You're going to hear A LOT of things from A LOT of diff people. And experience a lot of things that are unique to you! I am 14 1/2 weeks right now with my 1st. The best source of info I have EVER found is called DallasAreaMoms.com it's this huge forum with thousands of moms and you can post questions or concerns and will get responses within a half hour. That way you get a VARIETY of different experience and opinions. It's been my best resource for anything having to do with being prego or parenting! GOOD LUCK!

Dianthe,

You are so cute, love reading your blog! This is going to sound weird, but if you will lift one foot while you are brushing your teeth, it helps keep the gag reflex down. I read that somewhere and tried it, it works. I guess your brain can't process both things at the same time! Get a soft knit bra to sleep in, that will help with the soreness. Probably the day you turn 12 weeks and 1 day, you will have more energy, something to look forward to. One of my favorite pregnancy books is, "The Girlfriends Guide to Pregnancy" HYSTERICAL!!! Good luck and enjoy your pregnancy.

I'm so happy for you and Kelly! I know you'll be great parents and, as with Kellie, I hope you let us in on your progress through the pregnancy. (Minus the divorce drama afterwards!)

I just heard you discuss your name choices on the air. All great ones for a girl, HOWEVER, I'm hoping that you think really hard about picking a name that EVERYONE is choosing these days. I work at a small embroidery shop - after my regular job as a teacher - and the names (in this little rural community) Isabella, Ava, Sophia, and Sadie - they're all so popular now that it's sort of getting monotonous. AND as a teacher I can tell you that in 32 years of teaching I've seen the "trends" come and go. I had 3 Jason's in one class and you have to start calling them Jason D., Jason B. etc. Not to mention the Brandy's and Crystals in that same time frame. It was the same with the names Ashley, Brittany several years ago and now, in the past few years it's the Madisons and Taylors and Tylers!
You and Kelly should be somewhat creative and come up with a nice name that will put your child a little apart from the rest, since, of course, we know he/she will be.

Stay healthy and enjoy this special time in your life.

You might want to switch the flavor of your toothpaste.
When I was pregnant, my regular mint toothpaste made me vomit, but when I switched to cinnamon I stopped having that problem.

I totally remember how you feel - it was crazy how much I could sleep and still be TIRED! My boobs hurting was one of the first signs of pregnancy for me, but being the idiot that I am, I just thought it was PMS (even though I have NEVER in my 25 years had boob pain due to PMS)...NOPE! It was a all due to a beautiful baby boy named Sawyer, who came into this world this past February. Anyway...this will pass and you will be bouncing around again during your 2nd tri, and then go back to pure exhaustion in your third and then after you have that kid...then you will know the true meaning of sleep deprivation! :) It's all totally and 100% worth it, though!

Target has some of the most comfy prego clothes I could find, my advice is to buy all the teeshirts you can get there, towards the end...they will be lifesavers because nothing else will probably fit. The Pregnancy Journal was very interesting and a lot less scary than "What to Expect"...and you get a new tid-bit of info everyday!

Good luck with your pregnancy, enjoy it every day and don't forget to take pictures of your expanding tummy!

xoxo,Jenn

As happy as I was to be pregnant, pregnancy was not a joyous experience. I was sick the whole time & wound up losing more weight than I gained. It was the best "diet" I was ever on! ;) Ginger really helps with nausea. I made ginger tea several times a day. I also wore one of those motion sickness bracelets that presses on a pressure point in your wrist to ease the queesiness.
I completely understand the toothpaste thing! Sometimes I had to resort to brushing with just water & using a cinnamon mouthwash, but using cinnamon toothpaste was better than minty flavored.
My boobs were tender & painful thru the whole pregnancy. I could barely handle the shower hitting them. They were SUPER SENSITIVE as well!!
During the day I was exhausted, but every night I would lie there wide awake. Then once I did fall asleep, I would wake up around 3-4 a.m. feeling great & starving for Frosted Flakes!! lol That's one of the few good memories of my pregnancy! I truly hope yours goes better! Regardless of how ill I felt, it is the best experience I ever went thru & definately the best pay off!

Hi,

I had the same experience with toothpaste. They say that cinnamon flavored toothpaste is supposed to help with the nausea. You can find naturally flavored cinnamon toothpaste at some healthfood stores. I hope this helps. Congratulations!

Try eating hard candy for the bad taste in your mouth...it helped me. Oh! And the evening bloating?-been there, done that! My husband thought that I was out of my mind but it totally got worse at night! First of all... Congratulations!!! I am so very happy for you. I just was reading your blog and had to tell you that I was exactly like you when I was pregnant. I craved nothing but fruits. Watermelon and pineapple were my favorite!!! What is so funny is that before I was pregnant all I ate was candy - chocolate at every meal. I was fortunate for craving what I did b/c otherwise I would have been as big as my house. I only gained right at 20 pounds. Just wanted to share that with you.

Did you just love The Kierland? My Mom and I have gone to that place each Christmas for the past 2 years. The first year we were there, absolutely fell in love with the place. I loved the pool and spa. Mom loved the shopping at the Commons and the spa. We were on the 7th floor the first year and the 10th floor last year. It's a great place! The first year my Mom had to go to this timeshare presentation. Last year we paid full price for the room. The only downside, this is where all of the bowl people stay for all of the football games. Luckily, they all come in right when we were leaving. Congrats on the baby!

I have a suggestion and I don't mean to sound rude so please do not take it that way because I know your job must be extremely fast paced and stressful, but here goes...

When people call in and they are not the right caller, it's hard to understand what you are saying. You talk very fast. I have called in at other times of the day and have not had the same issue. Just suggesting you talk a bit slower but of course you do not have to heed the suggestion.

Hi Dianthe,

There is a Dairy Queen not far from the studio (well, not terribly far). It's in Coppell at the corner of Beltline and Denton Tap. My neighbor went there all the time during her pregnancy for ice cream too! I myself craved Paciugo during my pregnancy! Yumm! It's closer to the KKITM studio. It's in the strip mall at 114 and MacArthur. Near the Keg and BlueFish. Try it, I LOVED the Amaretto Chocolate Chip ice cream! Wedding Cake is my second favorite flavor! It's a little expensive, so I had to try to limit myself to once a week! But that was also because I put on 52 lbs! It's been 6 weeks since I delivered and I've only lost 26 lbs so far. It's hard to find time to work out when there is no one to watch the baby and you don't want to take him to the gym before he's had his immunizations!

Girl.. you don't know what you are wishing for when you say you want morning sickness. I just found out I am pregnant and the sickness is no fun~ I don't know who named it MORNING sickness. I have been walking around all day going.. if only I could puke, I would feel better.. yet I don't! UGGG

I am taking the opposite approach. (when I start feeling like eating again) I am just going to eat since I don't have to really diet and then when I have the baby, work out. They say breastfeeding burns like 1200 calories a day.. makes me consider it (Please no .. NONE.. ZERO comments about breastfeeing pros and cons.. )

I hated last nights Desperate Housewives.. UGG.

Have a great day
Shauna
PS.. I yell at my husband to come kiss me all the time.. he does not think it is as funny as I do.. I love to wait until he is halfway across the house then yell at him to come back.. I would totally watch your show :) :)

I don't think I've ever felt so inside out as after watching the finale last night. It was all so, I don't know, crazy?! I can't believe that no one on that show is allowed to be happy except, maybe Callie! If Burke isn't back I don't know if I'll watch. I can't believe he'll be asked to leave after his comments about TR. He truly is greatness in that role, and I think he's said he's sorry enough. ON with the show!!

Just wanted to clarify that Joey has mentioned his wife and family. He did state that he declined the competition three times because he wanted to be with his family. I have seen his wife on the show once. But HELLO, his daughter is 6 years old...what kind of parents would ditch their child just to be on the show every week? Don't be so quick to criticize. We could say that you pretended to be "LOST" last saturday...when instead you didn't want to find the restaurant to meet with your mother-in-law?? Joey is awesome and Laila is much more arrogant she doesn't show any excitment when she get a "10", it's like she expects it. Anyway, do your research before you start your soap box.

I have an "inspection sticker" on my car that expired in October 2005. How come everybody at my job was laughing at me when I said I needed a new brake tag? That's what we called 'em back home...

~~~~~
I swear, I thought I was the only person who bought oodles of underwear in college. When I moved out of the dorms, I found that I had enough to fill a 45 gallon garbage bag.
When you have to drag your underwear down the sidewalk and lift it in shifts with 5 second breaks in between... That's just wrong.
Dianthe, I've told you this before, but we would so be BFF! You express the same feelings I have about all our favorite shows. I am sooo sad for the Girls to be gone. What's even sadder is that my DVR didn't record & I only caught the last 15 minutes!! Where did Rory go? I wish she & Logan would've made up, but Luke & Lorelai reuniting more than makes up for that!
How good is GH right now?! OMG, Jason & Liz need to be together! He is already so disconnected from Sam & Liz has loved him forever. It is gonna get ugly when Lucky finds out. How random was it for Sunny to hook up (again & again!) with the producer chick? She does not fit in at all.
Ian was awesome! He's so humble & cute. If Steve Sanders can't win, I hope Laila does.
Good luck looking for a new car!
I have said this before, please do something with your hair! I love it curly...but you need different products to style it when you wear it straight and a different cut that tapers off toward the bottom. All one length just gives you a big dry bubble look. It sucks so bad to get a ticket for an expired registration or inspection sticker. I was lucky ... my registration was expired for a full year and 1 month before I got it renewed and I never got 1 ticket, but then I work from home so I don't drive my car every day.
Your comment about having 100 pairs of panties is too funny. Every time we get a coupon for a free pair of Victoria's Secret panties in the mail I have to go and get my free pair, plus 5 for $25. David says I have plenty of panties, but a girl can never have too many!!!! I don't sort mine by color, but I do like to sort mine by type (work panties, thongs, hipsters, etc....)
My husband tells me that the only time his ex-wife was nice was when she was pregnant! (they only have one child so 13 years of marriage and only 9 months of it could he get along with her?) It's a fun time, you'll see! You can't help but have a good attitude! You get treated like a little flower because everyone knows your with child, no waiting in lines, the minute people see you're prego, oh, she can't stand up that long, let her go first, oh, she can't hold it, let her go first, she's just a delicate little pregnant lady, treat her ssoft and gently, like a delicate tulip! (lol) On the other hand, I heard that the leading cause of death among pregnant women is murder, Hmmm? Maybe I heard wrong. Anyways, it'll be great, wait and see? And yes, waiting is worth it!!!
I so completely agree with you about who to blame... it's ridiculous... just like them interviewing the guy who sold him the guns... Cho was obviously smart and "with it" enough to conceal his craziness at times, and that was one of the times... and now we've got so many people saying we need stricter gun laws... which is nuts in itself... people who want to break the law, and want to kill people are going to do it. They will still get guns, they are criminals, they don;t CARE what the law says... but that woudl leave those of us who are law-abiding citizens unable to defend ourselves and our families. A friend of mine said it VERY well on the news the other day. Her parents were killed in the Luby's shooting in Killeen. Someone who wants to rack up a high number of bodies can set up a "shopping list" of places to go. Hospitals, schools, places were law abiding citizens are not allowed to carry guns, even if they are licensed to carry concealed, so everyone in there is defenseless... we need to be able to protect ourselves and our children against madmen like Cho, not take away our source of defense!
Love the last two blogs...wish there were more people grounded in reality like you. I get so sick of the high the media gets over situations like this. It is tragic, but tragedy happens everyday. Why do we not give such attention to those tragedies? I am so thankful for your recognition that we should not be blaming this on mental illness. Is mental illness to blame for the Holocaust? No, evil is. Evil and hate pulled that trigger over and over again on that VT campus Monday. Unfortunately, evil lives in the world everyday. It just doesn't always make front page news. By focusing on this deplorable individual, we just keep victimizing these families over and over again. Yes, we need to talk about it, but we just can't be careless when doing it. Bravo, girl.
I agree so much with Dionthe about who's to blame andwho is not. The problem is everyone wants to blame someone when something tragic happens. I read Stepen King and Dean Koontz and I do not feel like taking a gun and killing 32 people. I watch horror and enjoy the fright of the movie I listen to Eminem and STILL do not feel like killing people. That is an excuse. Have people ever thought that this person is just a nut job, would be a nut job no matter what and anything maybe even a pink elephant can set off a nut job. Some of the biggest serial killers in history came out of the 60's and 70's and the had shows like the Brady Bunch. I guess Marsha Brady made a guy kill and eat people. I mean come on. I guess Jack the Ripper had insite into Marilyn Manson or even Stephen King. We need to stop making exuses for people are just down right crazy. The answer is simple: They snaped and lost it. And the comment Kidd passed on how did no one help? Because sometimes you just don't know. What if this guy was sweet and nice to everyone and just snapped what then? Who should have paid for his actions then? Or the comment the soilder passed about these kids not helping. Well, the difference is the soilder was in a war zone armed, prepaired, and trained. These are college kids that get up to go to school not think oh how can I be a hero today just in case. People need to think and not always judge because it's easy to say what any of us would have done but until you are standing in those shoes: Put the stones away and step away from those glass homes.
Dianthe- Thank you so much for what you wrote. I know a lot of people feel the same way you do but do not have the outlet that you have to reach others. I am sadden every day with what I see. The meanness in the way we treat others,the lack of compassion and empathy, the unwillingness to take a view that is not political correct so we do not get attacked. We all need to take a good look at ourselves. I know I can do more...I know I can reach out to more...be a better person.....try to raise my kids do not always think of themselves first...not overlook my flaws then attack others for theirs. Maybe we should all remember that movie Pay it Forward. I am not naive I know there are and will always be bad people...but I just want to do what I can to make this world a better place. So I will try my best to be the person I want my kids to grow up to be. Thanks for listening.....
First of all, I want to say that I am sorry for your friend who died 5 years ago! Bad things do happen to good people at no fault of their own!
Will we stop focusing on Cho and remember those that died, got hurt, and the families and friends and professors and staff who are left behind? Those are the ones who should get our attention - not CHO! He was an idiot! My mother-in-law has bi-polar and I don't see her going out and shooting a whole bunch of people so the mental illness thing needs to go away! I watched Oprah yesterday and she had friends and family of the victims on and she also had a student on (via phone) who did stop the shooter from entering their classroom with the help of two tables and two other students, so he saved those kids' lives! Is his face splashed all over the TV? NO!!!!
Dianthe, I love your blogs because you speak your mind! I am so glad that there are people out there who are tired like I am of the on-slaught of random acts of violence! Keep up the good work!
Dianthe, I have to agree with your post today. I was listening to Kidd today and getting pretty angry with him and ranting about the situation. It's obvious that he didn't go to college because of his lack of understanding about how a campus is set up, how many buildings and offices there are, etc. You can't do loudspeakers, etc and 70% of the student body lives off-campus and are in transit and just trying to get to class on time.
I went to A&M, so I know what it's like to be on a huge campus with huge volumes of people coming in & out. The officials did the very best they could with the situation and the resources and info they had.
Anyway, just wanted to say that it was nice to read your blog. I read it everyday! I love it!
I agree with some of what you said. Like you said there are close to 25,000 people attending a college plus the administration. I find it hard to believe that after all of the allegations that are coming out about what this individual committed that no one stood up, I mean really stood up. The administration should have expelled him.
One of my co-workers son, under his breath, said I am going to kill you to another student that student reported him to the administration. He was expelled that day.
There is a no tolerance rule in the grade schools that is working to keep our children safe from other children. What is going on in the Colleges? Just because they are grown adults does not mean they are not someones child and deserve to be protected.
I am a college student at a Big 12 school, there is NO WAY that they could evacuate campus for what they assumed was an isolated incident. We had a bomb threat last semester for ONE building and that building was put on lockdown, like the dormitory was at VaTech. I wish that people would realize that there are some situations where there is no one to blame but the culprit.
I had sooo many of your blogs to catch up on! You know my crazy a$$ has been all GH - all the time; I'm actually thinking about re-scheduling my first trip back to N.O. around the birth of that Liason baby. It's imperative that I watch it in real time - the joy and pleasure that I am sure to feel is immeasurable...
You had me cracking up about that water bug. The way I differentiate between them and cockroaches is by their nasty "hides". Water bugs look all hard and armory and I'm not as scared of them because they don't have wings (do they?), but I will still run through a wall trying to escape their wrath.
I stopped watching all my shows and focused full-time on my GH addiction, so I didn't even realize that RW Denver was still on. Their job was so freakin boring, I just couldn't get into it.
I hate that I missed the last few eppys of The Hills; I so loved that show.
And what happened on Dirt?! I've got like the last 6 episodes on tape, but I failed to label them and I'd just as soon buy the dvd when it comes out rather than try and determine which episode I'm supposed to watch first.
What else? Oh, you and those lovely little peeps... I mutilated a couple of packs in Wal-mart the other day. I laughed at myself then checked behind me to see if anyone was looking. I thought of you.
Well, I'm off now to do.. oh, I don't know... watch GH clips on youtube like I've been doing for the last 15 hrs!
Your blogs inspire me to write lots of stuff.
Take Care,
I just read where you stated "Atkins sucks". I was on the Atkins diet for approximately 8 months prior to my wedding in January 2006. This diet really puts your body through the wringer. After about three months on the diet, my hair starting falling out. Of course, I went to the doctor, and he advised that I had to come off of the diet and that my hair issue was due to Atkins. I did not listed to his advice. I was losing so much weight (25 lbs. total).
I hate to be so blunt, but prior to Atkins, my kidneys functioned well. Now, I am in the restroom every 20-30 minutes. The "ketosis" wreaks havoc on you kidneys and can actually cause them to shut down.
Please, if at all possible, try a different diet. I have paid over $400.00 visiting various physicians for side effects related to Atkins.
Thanks!
omg, you are hilarious! I always read your blogs, but never comment. well, i'm always commenting to myself, but i figured i would write back here. I SO saw brian austin green in the audience last night. i kept telling my boyfriend over and over again---look is Brian Austin Green, david from 90210, ian's co-star. Love me some 90210 and it never gets old.
and Joey Greco reference. HIlarious! Love, love, love Cheaters. and the seriousness of Joey Greco. so funny. did you hear about him getting stabbed a long time ago? funny. and on a cheaters sidenote, do you get into the "to catch a predator" show? Greatness. i dont know what it is about this show, but guilty pleasure. just watching these creeps get busted and all of their excuses. it's just funny.
There are two really good websites for keeping track of what you eat on a daily basis. One is fitday.com and the other is dietdetective.com. Fit day is a little more user friendly, but they both are good for different reasons.
Hey girl, I am doing the Atkins but a modified version. Basically I eat protein, and greens. It works. I have done it in the past and lost 30 lbs in about 3 months. I had a baby so, here I am again.
Example:
Breakfast: Eggs and bacon or sausage OR Slimfast Low Carb Shake.
Lunch Salad with protein and REAL dressing Italian or Ranch has less carbs.
Dinner: Protein, Green Beans or Broccolli and a Salad
Snacks: Cheese, Queen olives, Jerky, etc..
Dessert: Russell Stovers makes sugar free candy like truffles etc. to DIE for. Just be careful with how many you eat. I would just eat like 2 or 3. Sugar alcohols can upset your tummy.
When looking at NET carbs you take total carbs-fiber-sugar alcohol (if any)= total net carbs.
I have lowered my carbs to less than 20 grams a day.
Trust me, you will feel great and it is so much better than the steak and bacon all the time.
If you have any questions, feel free to email me.
Dianthe,
I've been a dedicated reader of your blog everyday, but I've never posted. I relate to much of your life, because I got married only 2 weeks after you did, and yes, I did read your blog on my honeymoon, so I could find out the details of your wedding! I'm a dork, I know! But I'm going through the same weight issues that you are. I'm about 10 pounds more than I was at my wedding and I started Atkins last Thursday night, so it's been almost a week, and I've lost 5.5 pounds. I started at 165.5, and I was at 160.0 this morning. My husband is doing it with me, and he's done it before, which has been a HUGE motivation for me. I think you should do well on it because it has that immediate satisfaction of actually seeing the number drop on a daily basis. We are going on a cruise with friends in 3 weeks, so I needed something immediate, not one of these slow, but long term things. Anyway, I just wanted to cheer you on with your decision.
That sucks about your hotel situation!! My moms side of the family has a "girls weekend" in december in SA, and we always stay at a place called "The Menger". It's right off the river, and an entrance to the mall is right outside. It's also maybe a block (if that) to the Alamo. It's a gorgeous and very historic hotel. Kelley would like that. You can look up the info on their website. You have to book about a year in advance, this place is always booked. We had to stay somewhere else a few years back b/c we waited too long to book. They also have an AWESOME breakfast (I think it's about 10 bucks a person) But it's a huge buffet, with a chef to make your own omelet or belgian waffle too. Sweet!!!! Of course everything is just beautiful down there in December.
Wake up America! Heather Mills is awful for marrying Paul McCartney for money but before she even did that she was always a liar and a tramp. She was a hooker when she was young and she was a soft porn model. This takes a certain person to do that kind of stuff so she is not ordinary! She also wrote her autobiography and told a story about how her and a friend were held captive by a pedophile. This was supposed to have happened when they were teenagers. It was completly untrue and the friend, whom she named in the book, sued her and got a bunch of money. Obviously not her money as she did not have any until she married a weak and vunerable man who has loads. She is a gold digger with no morals or principles. She may do a lot for charity but does not do that for altruistric reasons. She does it as it helps her bank balance. Vote her out!
I'm glad someone else agrees with me, that movie was nuts! I think the only term for it is "brainwashed" and I don't feel like that is too extreme at all! In fact, I would go further to say that it is sort of abuse. It isn't right exposing your child, the being that you are solely responsible for raising to be a healthy, mature, well rounded adult, to such craziness and it definitely is not right forcing them (by way of ignorance) into those sort of situations. All that those children can ever know is that crazy, extreme religion. Of course, I am of the belief that while it is important to raise your child with the knowledge of Christianity (or whatever religion is prominent in your family) it is not fair to shelter them from all other faiths (and in the case of the families in the movie-not only all other faiths but all sense of reality.) My mother was a devout catholic but never forced my siblings and I into that religion. A couple of us remained in the Catholic church, and a couple found different religious paths that suited them better. Who am I to say that this sort of evangelist, pentecostal, whatever religion was depicted in Jesus Camp is not right? I do, however, think that it is wrong in any religion to raise ignorant children...and in the case of the families shown in this documentary that is exactly what they were doing as they purposely hid their children from everything else in the world.
I think I’m the only person who thoroughly enjoyed the Oscars last night! Ellen Degeneres is just too funny for words. The dancing troop! The sound-effects choir! Maybe I’m just an Oscar Freak cuz I thought it was the best production they ever put on. I was off today, but got up early to listen to The Show and when Kidd called it boring - well, I was pissed and I couldn’t back to sleep.
Truthfully speaking, I don’t really remember what people were wearing. I know Nicole Kidman had on a red dress and kinda resembled an extra long milk-bone.
I remember thinking that I didn’t like Reese’s long hair and Will Smith’s son was adorable.
I think Beyonce tried to out-sing Jennifer Hudson. That just wasn’t gonna happen.
Forest Whitaker took my breath away, as he always does; same goes for Melissa Etheridge. She rocks.
I can’t believe Martin Scorsese finally won!
Will Ferrell and Friends were hilarious.
Jerry Seinfeld cracked me up and I thought Al Gore looked strangely sexy last night… For real. I did.
Overall, I loved ‘em.
Had to laugh at that! No, I wouldn't want you to do that, I just thought I'd give my idea on what helps ME keep in shape. Looking back, I don't remember what got me to start running other than I was tired starving myself to keep thin(ish). I probably hated it at first, but there must be something to the "runner's high" thing. I don't feel "high" when I'm done, more like "really glad" that I did it. I listen to the show when I run, except on Sundays. You guys really get me through it.
Didn't watch the awards. I had to take care of my dad and he's into The History Channel more than Dreamgirls. I hadn't seen many of the movies (just Dreamgirls, I think) so it was all pretty irrelevant to me. I'm sure I can see the fashion pluses and minuses in the magazines and on E.
I DID see Jennifer Holiday (original Effie in the play) sing the song on E earlier in the afternoon. She's still got it, but I prefer Jennifer Hudson. I can't watch/listen to Beyonce. Just can't. She screeches.
Have fun with the home improvement. I helped my husband remodel our kitchen, dining room, and living room this summer. He laid the tile and I grouted it. 600 square feet of it!!! It was quite a job, but we got it done. We put granite tiles on the kitchen countertops and travertine as the backsplash. It looks really nice. It is addictive, but what a nice addiction.
Have a great week.
I totally agree w/ you about Jada. Flawless skin, seemingly genuine person, but MAN BODY! Girl, stop lifting 20 times your body's weight in the gym! Top of her dress looked like armour.
...don't even worry about not being able to fit anything in the Juniors section. I can't fit that crap either. They've made the clothes littler - I'm serious!
I've been the same weight since I was 19 yrs old and wearing a size 5.
I'm now 29 and according to the Juniors rulebook - I wear a size 9. This does not phase me. The juniors clothes are too sparkly anyway and they have lots of writing and stuff on the shirts. That bugs me.
I just moved on to the 'Womens' department - where, according to them - I'm a size 4 (which poses a whole new set of problems cuz they only make two of everything in a size 4, plenty of 12s and 16s, but only two 4s - I've digressed)
I hear what you're saying, chick. You have your own body-standards (I like that phrase, by the way); I just wanted you to be able to cross 'I can't fit Juniors anymore' off your list of reasons to lose weight.
Dianthe, I love your blog! I have a very slow dial-up connection at home and it takes FOREVER to load but it's always worth it.
I understand what you're going through with your weight. I was never really a "thin" person, and I have been pretty chunky in the past (first year of college and first year I was married). But running has saved me from being overweight. I started running when I was about 39 and I am still going strong at 52. I ran 7 miles yesterday and 5 today.I truly wish I had started running when I was younger. I know running isn't for everybody, but it works for me. I say this because I get what you talked about in today's blog all the time - "Oh but you're soooo thin!" But to me, I'm not. I don't need to be really "thin" at my age, because I don't have the same motivation that younger women have. I've been married for 31 years, I'm a grandma, and I just am happy with just being a "healthy" weight. (And that means wearing nothing bigger than a size 8. Size 6 would be nice, and I do get that thin at times, but an 8 is okay with me.) But I struggle with it constantly, mostly because I love to eat! I'm from Louisiana and it's almost hard to miss loving to eat all the great food we make all the time. I am wodering about the Hoodia - does it really help with the sugar cravings? I'd like to try it.
Anyway, just keep those great blogs coming! I know what you mean about kids growing up and not realizing that they have become adults. It's quite a shock to know that the kids I taught in the 3rd grade my first year of teaching are 40 years old now!! Arghhh!!! How old does that make ME feel????
Hope you have a great Fat Tuesday!
Dianthe! Beware of pantry re-organizing! We did ours in November b/c it was on our house "to-do" list. We figured we just put our stuff in when we moved in 2 years ago & never changed it. Well, while I was sweeping the floor after we had moved everything out, I just happened to look up at the ceiling. MOLD! We had a leaky toilet on the floor above the pantry and it created a yucky, bad mold problem. So our simple "let's clean out the pantry" turned into ripping out sheet rock & mold remediation. I think Tyra tries too hard to show people that she's "real". If it doesn't come naturally - it's not real. I think she has a flat personality but orchestrates and sets up all of her instances of "authenticity". It rubs me the wrong way too.
Like on ANTM - when she's showing the girls how to convey a certain emotion or attitude; when she gives a demonstration - I get the urge to beat her.
