NO! They have the same ads in the paper literally since the 90's! The agency sells photos and modeling classes!

Im not familiar with them, but used to do the model/acting thing..... if they ask you for money then say no. No legit agency will ask you for money. They invest in you.... and you may have to give them some later from things you book, but you never have to give them cash.

These crooks pull an Explore Talent scam and that is sell pictures and take modeling ads from Criagslist and Model Mayhem to pretend like those offers was given to them only.

Big waste of time! There can be as many as over 1000 contestants through the entire convention all given false hope of getting discovered after forking out min payment of $2000 or more! Save your money and time and look for local agencies through the phonebook or online!

Explore Talent is a SCAM!
They STEAL castings from FREE sites like Craigslist and charge you A LOT of money!
NO legit casting directors post castings on Explore Talent!
Agents DON'T make their actors join Explore Talent!

The ONLY legit sites are:
LA:
ActorsAccess.com
Lacasting.com
Thepeoplenetwork.com
CastingFrontier.com
Nowcasting.com
Backstage.com

NY:
Actorsaccess.com
Castingnetworks.com

Any fool giving money to these rip off artists deserves to get scammed! No actor in Hollywood or model ever mentioned being discovered through Explore Talent or a modeling convention! Maybe it happens once every other blue moon (possibly how they keep the scam going) but 99.9 % of the time NOBODY gets discovered through them! NOBODY!

[> [> [> [> [> [> [> [> Re: Modeling Association of America International (MAAI) -- Anonymous, 14:37:01 10/02/13 Wed [1]

The only reason these conventions get a cattle call of contestants is because there is a huge discount for modeling school students. Or the price is included in the modeling course price.

Why would agents look on Explore Talent website for models or actors when they deal with tons of them day after day? This would be like a record label rep looking online for tons of singers when they deal with tons of them in person. Big waste!

California Hawaiian Tropic is still around? (all age group pageant) -- Anonymous, 12:25:46 10/01/13 Tue [4]

My daughter participated in California Tropic Pageants for 2 years. This was a system I researched online, and found to be a great "natural" beauty pageant to be apart of. First of let me state that this is not about winning/losing, but what it fair. My hopes is for this report to warn any potential families from wasting their hard earned money on this fradulent system.

The last pageant we participated in was going good, until the judges abrutly left during the middle of the events and were replaced with Tropic employees, currently royality family memebers, or judges who had ties to contestants. This is a conflict of interest!

The child who won the catagory did not place at least top 3 in any of the events, but she won the whole age division! How is this possible? So you win based upon how much you pay! Apparently no one knows how scoring is tabulated, because CT decides who wins before hand. Also scores sheets are not given, so you can not review how your child was scored.

I have looked into past winners of Tropics, and its the same girls who win over and over,or their parents make a ton of money, which in Carol's eyes screams WINNER!!

I personally emailed the director and was told lies after lies about the reasons why the judges left. Unfortunatly for her another mother informed me the judges personally contacted her to let her know they left because the children they were placing to win events, were not winning! CT were changing the outcome of the events.

In the end pageants are simply an arena where you pay someone to judge your child and give their opinion, I understand that! But when all fairness goes out the door, thats what I have a PROBLEM with. I am one of several parents who have come to learn California Tropics is a system you should not waste your time or hard earned money with.

Since I have decided to no longer let my child be apart of this horrible system, I have personally spoke with many other mothers who are either to afraid to speak up, or are current royality parents. This system is rigged, and everyone knows it You dont do what she wants and your child will not win beyond the prelim competitions.

I can go on and on but that sums up my opinion. Be warned of CALIFORNIA TROPICS! Go elsewhere where supreme titles will get you cash money, tiaras that do not break easily, and titles were earned by how hard you worked, not how much money you have.

Stay Away From Pageant and Prom Expo -- Anonymous, 09:50:25 09/24/13 Tue [5]

This post is a summation of the business of Wallis Amanda Mills, an ever-changing name, as researched on the Internet and with the help of several emails from people she has taken money from and/or worked with in the many cities she has jumped around in for the past few years. As she is entirely aware of her own past, this response is simply a warning to anyone planning to do future business with her.
Please direct all future complaints and reports about her here: http://www.stopfraud.gov/report.html

-False online advertisement and false promises of talent management; false promises of scholarships/pageants/proms/expos/events. Events that never materialized after girls had entered and already paid.

-Running several businesses and events under different names with a lack of sufficient funds to pay monies owed. Comparing those business to existing businesses that they were nothing like. Naming those businesses after other businesses with the same name.

-Avoidance of those who attempted to contact her to receive due monies, constantly changing 800 numbers associated with the businesses (moving to other cities where she cant be found and shutting down previously existing pageant websites.) Then replying to a dead thread several years later, after the storm has passed, to protect her online reputation as she continues to name new events and companies that will fly under the radar (acting like she has always made herself available after years of hiding out and using an email she probably wrote herself as though it is proof of anything substantial of her character.)

-Upon calling both the Miss Universe Organization and the local chapter of Miss California USA, they have no record of this persons employment. They did, however, say that directors can self-appoint themselves as contractors. Contestants are then assigned to them.***

-Upon finding out she was in fact a self-appointed contractor for less than one year as a San Francisco director, it was also noted that she collected $1000s of dollars in gifts/prize/services from businesses under the guise of being from The Miss Universe Organization, failing to mention that she was actually working at the preliminary city level, which is several rungs both below Miss Universe and Miss USA. These businesses report her using vague language to lead them to believe that "Miss Universe" would be appearing at their functions when in fact it was "Miss San Francisco." The taxes on these items are also in question.

-***Grossly over-exaggerating the impact of her training. Piggybacking off the titles and awards of deserving girls who have been winning pageants for years and previously trained by others for years (the internet shows these girls had won several titles before being assigned to her, including interview awards).

-Using her short-term experience with MUO to deceive countless young women to enter go-nowhere events and pageants created by Mills herself, who then pulled the plug on these pageants (possibly without the intention of ever going through with them) and never returning contestants money.

-Blatant dishonesty concerning her legitimacy, her own career and her own placement at the Miss Massachusetts USA pageant.

-Extremely retouched photos of herself that at first glance appear to back up her former model claims. In person she looks nothing like the pictures advertised on her website, nor is she qualified to give beauty or wardrobe guidance.

-Changing her name countless times to alter search engine results. (Wallis Amanda Mills)

It's true Nina did have her share of race baiters but the other two were not attacked nearly as much. It wasn't until the scandal of Nina's comments caught on tape bashing Miss America 2013's weight was when all this media hype of Nina's race started coming around in the media to this degree. Both Miss USA and Miss America in this age needs controversy to survive in the media because most people in the general public are not interested in pageants like die hard pageant fans are. This publicity stunt was cooked by the MAO team for media attention for the pageant and to cover Nina's hypocritical comments since she was once 50 pounds overweight herself!

Of oourse part of it is publicity hype for the pageant itself and to cover Nina's bashing comments against Mallory Hagan.

Why would Jon Stewart give a rat's azz about Miss America? That was total bought publicity by the Miss America Organization! If her front yard had a burning cross and/or death threats that would be different.

I'm going to have to say yes and no. Yes because if the contestant is still asleep, why not take a few mins to remind her about getting up? On the other hand no need to force her up either.

She should at least try to wake her up that way if she plays sick, the roommate won't be the possible blame.

So to compete in Miss America -- Anonymous, 12:53:26 09/17/13 Tue [6]

One has to compete in county, then state, then nationals (one has to win county and state to go to nationals) but also as a state rep, a contestant has to raise money for the CMA foundation? This is no different than being required to sell ads!

Contestants have to raise money? That's a red flag for the best saleswoman winning or at least placing! I bet you are guranteed placement into the finals if the contestant raised the most money.

Miss Universal Dream Pageant is a SCAM! -- Anonymous, 10:26:45 09/19/13 Thu [17]

I paid Daphne Rice over $1,000.00 to compete in the Miss Universal Dream Pageant in Las Vegas, NV. After I paid, competed and lost I learned several disturbing facts.

1st: Daphne stole the name of her pageant from another prominent pageant named American Dream Pageant.

2nd: In 2012 Daphne skipped out on thousands of dollars in bills at Palace Station Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada when she did not pay bills as promised for her pageant. Many delegates and their families were promised hotel rooms and other things and never received them. Daphne fled to Planet Hollywood Casino with the help of her friend Brittany Williams.

3rd: Daphne Rice promised a singer and his manager a hotel room at the Palms Resort. She claimed that she had a confirmation number. Then she strung them along. Then Daphne claimed that rooms were sold out. The duo had to pay for their own room elsewhere.

4th: The judges turned in their scores and they were counted. However Daphne switched the winners at the end because I overhead two of the judges talking about it and saw their facial expressions when the wrong winners were announced.

5th: Daphne's friends were charging delegates $50 to share rooms with 3-5 delegates and the rooms only cost $50.

No matter what Daphne Rice says she is a con and gives a bad name and reputation to the pageant industry. I do not ever suggest doing business with her or supporting her pageant.

Somehow Daphne Rice convinced a former NFL player and owner of a large PR firm to back her. They must not have known that she was a crook and unprofessional. I met them and they are legit, especially the PR firm and owner who helped.

Do not join Daphne's 'Universal Dream'! Daphne Rice used someone elses' phone the entire time because her cell was disconnected due to not paying the bill and she is reportedly homeless. How can you run a pageant and not even have a cell phone. Daphne Rice does not work for Ford and Ford does not endorse or support her pageant. Don't be fooled. She is a liar.

I am ROTFLMAO @ her blog from May!

THURSDAY, MAY 9, 2013

Good Riddens
I very rarely have to block anyone from emailing me but I had to this morning. I did not wake up to have my day ruined by a psycho wanna be. So I had to block her. She took it too damn far. Not only via email, but Facebook. It's funny because I haven't had to block anyone via email in almost 10 years. It takes a lot for me to block you via email. Looking at my email block list, there are only two names. The second added today. But FB now has a list of 37. Good bye and good riddens.

Have huge support in the community. They realize my worth and realize a jilted, angry former when they see it. They know me. I don't hide who I am. I'm very open about that. But it is all in the way you ask. You want me to respect you? Then respect me. Respect is mutual. You come at me respectful. I will respond back in a respectful manner. But if you come to me rude, disrespectful and ignorant....then guess what you are going to get back? An even ruder and even more disrespectful person. I guarantee you I will have you sitting in a dark closet, crying your eyes out, ripping your hair (or shall I say horse hair) out of your head. When I'm done with you, you will not want to be in this industry ever again. Your days of competing are over and soon your days as a director are over.

OAN: Will be getting back home in time to go over and order the new living room and bedroom set. We decided to get it now. Hopefully it will be delivered Saturday. Because Monday and Tuesday are busy days for us. I go to pick out the living room set, while he got the bedroom set. I am trying to switch the living room set though. I didn't know it was made out of the material it was. I only got it because it was a sectional. I'm addicted to those now. Oh well!!

Until later.

What happened to those days? Will they ever come back?

I don't think so due to the fact many have learned about favors going on behind the scenes like directors trading wins with other directors. Or giving finalist spots to contestants who competed multiple times or that is affiliated with the pageant sponsors.

It all started going downhill when the recession hit.

Toddler and Tiara type pageants like Cover Miss, Sunburst, Fabulous Faces, Universal Southern Charm, Glamour Dolls used to 300 and 400 contestants. That was about 30 - 40 contestants per age group. Now they are lucky to get 100 and Glamour Dolls hit rock bottom. It can barely pull 30 in the whole national pageant!

Those type of pageants were notorious for pulling in clueless parents at prelims. Their kids would wear the sunday dresses and school picture day hair with no make up. They get to state and nationals and see all the glitzy dresses, heavy makeup, added hair, dance modeling, and retouched cartoon photos. The vendors of these services would sell photos, coaching, clothes, and hair and makeup needs to the parents saying this is what wins. Many parents fell for it until they found out many wins came from WHO was the contestant's hair and makeup artist, coach, and photographer and that determined the win instead of the talent itself.

The pageant cash cow is over and done with. In Miss and Mrs pageants, to have the winning edge contestants had to recompete year after year, be the best customer at trunk shows, or sell the most ads.

Or have a pageant consultant who is friends with the director. He or she still have their clique in the group to get the director to give that contestant a spot in the top 10.

Beware of Exquisite Management!! -- Anonymous, 09:40:10 08/14/13 Wed [4]

This is a fake modeling agency posting Craigslist ads claiming to be looking for extras for "Fast and the Furious 7" movie. After sending photos you're sent a contract that requires models to pay $200 for photo or pay for a protfolio website along with paying to print 2000 comp cards each month to send to their "37,000" clients! The hook sounds so professional from their professional looking emails and attachment files but DON'T FALL FOR IT! The hook is they ask for money and no real agency does that! There is also no listing of current models recieving work!

Red flag should have been raised when an ad for a major hollywood movie is posted on craigslist. Major movies go to agencies not craigslist.

There was an ad looking for people for Hawaii 5-0! These shysters were so slick with it by replying back giving you one of the characters from the show as a best fit. When clicking the link it asks for personal information and a monthly fee! Are you freakin kidding me? What fool pays a monthly fee to these crooks?

Contestants took control of that board. Remember it used to be nothing but praise for the winners last year and years before?
