Disenfranchised? That implies something was taken away from voters or they were prevented from voting. As far as I know, people here voted by their own free will. If there was any disenfranchisement, the voters inflicted it upon themselves by not finding out more about the candidates.
There were a lot of voters on both sides who did not take into account qualifications or anything else. If you went to any of the local Meet the Candidate meetings or listened to them right here on this blog, it was clear that there were quite a few in both parties who were absolutely clueless about the office they sought and knew little about specific local issues. In the event of races with incumbent, sure, they have an advantage, but that is all the more reason why challengers need to be up to speed.
We need to recruit better candidates in both parties, but how that can be accomplished, I don't know.
