Attending county meetings can be an eye opening experience.
It can also be frustrating when you see so many opportunities for improvement and no one seems capable of leading the charge.
There are some offices and departments within the county that stand out in their desire to keep improving. They struggle to get the support they need at times from council members who don't understand. And a consolidated effort like the one you described in Ft Wayne would take leadership at the core to get it going. And a will of iron to keep it going.
That said, it would set Dearborn County up as a place to do business. And maybe bribing prospects with incentives would be unnecesary as we become a progressive community and not a provincial one.
We have not begun to realize our potential in this county. The reason- we have not learned to work together. Governments need to work together, emergency services need to consolidate and work together, county departments need to work together, and even the small town and city governments would benefit from consolidating services in the short run and uniting into a single municipal government eventually.
