A link to a letter to Mr. Witte, Executive Secretary of the Indiana Supreme Court Disciplinary Commission, regarding the missing transcripts from Dan Brewington's case.

This transcript issue is extremely important to the judicial process. Dan Brewington could spend more time in jail because some appealable issue was not able to be made because there were “no hearings” and therefore “no transcripts.” Pursuant to the Access to Public Records Act (Ind. Code 5-14-3), I made another public records request for the tapes of the two “missing” hearings on August 7, 2012. I have not gotten a response yet. If Judge Blankenship is short staffed I don’t think adding more prisoners in an expanded jail is going to help the situation. Maybe more people need to request tapes and transcripts from this office. Unfortunately “mistakes” are made and the public being aware could be our last chance to demand that the system works.

We continue to work to let people know about the potential danger to freedom of political speech in Indiana. It is now before the Indiana Appeals Court.
