I think he started going about things the most correct way he knew how, until he met one brick wall after another.
If you have no resources how can you avoid representing yourself, and making all the mistakes a pro attorney spends years learning to avoid?
Dan's wife made a fool of him, the psych. insulted his character (statements appear generally offensive, off the cuff, and biased), the judge allowed invasion of the family homestead/trust in the settlement, the system tried to emasculate him by demanding his famed 357 be handed to his wife. It appeared to be all about control. Not his control, but his wife's control and others he pissed off. She claimed the marriage was bad, but then had 2 children after she decided it was a bad marriage. Then she wants out, expects him to pay for it, AND wants to take the kids.
I think he showed great restraint toward her. I think he showed restraint, period!
Clearly, the frustration and loss of everything dear would have affected any one in his shoes. Clearly, the frustration got to everyone who dealt with him and did create extra trouble. Clearly he has been his own worst enemy.
It is not against the law to be a pain. Sometimes only the squeaky wheel gets the grease.
I wonder if the defense requested medical info. of the "victims" to find out what med. psych. diagnosis and help they received for their fear of Dan. Did anyone ask for this information?
