The meeting went well. There were a lot of questions and some answers. The Judges were blamed as the cause for overcrowding. If you don't like what the Judges are doing vote them out. Many people were opposed to a larger jail and felt that the money, if available should be used for programs to prevent crime or reduce re-offenders. The JCAP program was mentioned. It is only for inmates, so that while treatment is funded by grants, the cost is still there to house them during the treatment and after they get out they are off the program. Several people indicated the Jail and Judicial system did not work and one even said corrupt.

Dennis Kraus Sr. said it would cost $40,000 to %50,000 for a Referendum, and 100 people filing a remonstrance could stop the jail, so they were not going to do a Referendum.

Mention was made about a Methadone treatment center and Sheriff Kreinhop said he could not get information on it since it is Federal. He suggested contacting the Federal representatives.

The Jail expansion is the first phase of campus construction to be followed by potentially Courthouse expansion, Prosecutor's office and Juvenile facilities and parking. Total construction? $30 to $40M.

The meeting ended at 8:00 PM and many questions went unanswered.
