Subject: PBR Press Release - Kasey Hayes

Conduct Committee Makes Decision on Kasey Hayes' Actions MEDIA CONTACT:
Professional Bull Riders, Inc.
Public Relations Department 719.242.2800

PUEBLO, Colo. (January 19, 2009) - The Professional Bull Riders, Inc. (PBR) Conduct Committee reviewed the action taken by bull rider, Kasey Hayes (Liberal, Kan.) at the PBR’s 2009 Built Ford Tough Series (BFTS) stop in Sacramento, Calif. During round two of the Sacramento Classic on Sunday, January 18, Hayes was bucked off the bull, Blind Date, owned by Red Knection Bucking Bulls, and threw his facemask at the bull immediately after the buck-off. The bull was hit on the side of the body and was unharmed.

The Conduct Committee decided that Hayes will be fined $7,500 and will make a public apology during PBR’s next VERSUS broadcast. Furthermore, he will have to enroll in an anger management program and if he does not complete it, he will be suspended for three Built Ford Tough Series events.

The PBR believes that there are two great athletes in every eight second ride---the rider and the bull---and are fully committed to ensuring the much deserved health, safety, and respect of each bull that enters a PBR Arena. To mistreat a bull would be a detriment to the sport upon which a bull rider’s own livelihood depends. Therefore, the care and treatment of PBR’s animal athletes is a top priority to those who govern and/or participate in PBR events.

******We would love to hear your thoughts on this.*****

Wow! I seen what Kasey did and thought it was wrong on his part to throw it directly at the bull. I think the PBR board was right in fining Kasey and for him to apoligies. On the other hand anger managment class is alittle harsh. I have seen guys get really mad after a buck-off and hit the gates with there fits and throw there ropes in back of the chuts.I understand that the PBR is trying to make a point out of what Kasey did, so that it will never happen again. I hope that Kasey has learn a lesson and will not take his anger out on any living being.

I think they are setting a example with him that should have been done a long time ago..But its one thing to show emotions in the arena but I feel the camera shouldn't follow the guys behind the chuts and sometimes all the way to the locker room.
Kacey should be fined but for just throwing and hitting the bull...if they start sending guys to anger managment classes then they better start lining them up.

A little harsh! ...my 2cents.

good topic..how do you guys feel??
