very interesting...do you pick a bull you know yu can ride and get a 80 something score or do you pick a bull you might ride a get a 90+
I dont think there are too many cowboys that can ride the rankest bulls all the time...

Beckie, that was interesting to read. we will have to see how this all plays out for the 08 season. I really don't know what will happen hope it works out for the riders.

I think this Pick Your Bull is stuff is just that, a ton of bull! This is as dumb as then doing the first to fail format and them trying to fly Justin across the arena at the finals. Give me a break! There is nothing fair, as far as this chick can see, about letting the bull riders pick their bull in round 2. Just seems like more hog-wash to me. I love the PBR and respect most of the decision they make, after all this is a business, but this idea just makes me want to vomit.

All I can say is where the H _ L _ is Tuff when we need him!!! Does anybody remember this is exactly why Tuff left the PBR - he was opposed to the greatest sport and opportunity for the worlds best bull riders becoming a circus.

Since Bernard and Murray have joined the "big top" this is exactly what the PBR has become, nothing more than a circus. And those paying the highest price to participate under the big top are our sons, husbands, and friends.

But as long as fans and bull riders alike sit back and don't voice their opinions the madness will continue.

I dare say, when will the PBR cheerleaders show up in their short shorts and push up bras to stand on the side lines cheering!

Although the PBR is a closed corporation, it's time the bull riders of the PBR stand up and take their organization back. PBR can claim closed corporation all they want, but they require these young men to pay "dues" to belong to their organization. Well, when this ole gal pays a due to belong to something, I feel that gives me the right to voice my opinion, and VOTE!!

OK guys... stop and think about this a minute... this may give the guys a chance to put their money where their mouth is.

From what I understand, the Round 1 winner gets 1st pick and then it goes on from there. How many times have y'all heard someone say... I'd love to draw _____ ???? It will be interesting to see if they will really choose a 46-47 point bull or a lower ranked bull.

I'm willing to give it a chance to see what happens... It could be interesting.

Now... I HATED THE 1ST TO FAIL... it was STUPID.

[> [> Re: Have you guys read this!! -- Beckie, Thu, Nov 08 2007, 22:19:53 [1]

Tracy, Thats how I read it too. The top guy in the first round gets the first choice of the second round pin of bulls and on down the list. It will be interesting indeed. Will they go for a BIG score or one that will give them some sure points. I think if it were me I would try to pick a bull I was sure I could ride.

Stepmunster, How is Wildchild? I cant wait to see him back on tour! Tell him we all miss him

Hey Beckie,
I got my prize....it's fantastic. The picture frame is so beautiful and I love the autographed glove from Rob as well as the pictures & certificate(you know Ross and Rob are my favorites along with Justin). Had a great time in Vegas and all I can say is ....WAY TO GO JUSTIN!!!!! He had a fantastic ride on Camo and I was so happy he won. As far as next seasons fantasy game, I like option #2 even though I won't be able to pick my man Justin since I read on the PBR website he is going to have shoulder surgery...guess I can go with someone else.....hahahaha.

[> [> Re: Prize Package! -- Beckie, Wed, Nov 07 2007, 5:22:15 [1]

Eileen, I'm glad you like your prize..I thought it was real nice of Rob to give me the glove to give away.. He is such a nice guy. He made the finals as a alternate but chose not to go and rest his groin.. Hopefully he can back on tour soon.

We will get the Fantasy Game up soon so we can start picking our teams.

Yes...Rob is a super great guy. Make sure to thank him for me....I love the glove. I took it to work to show some people and they too thought it was awesome. I hope he will be back on tour this next season so I can thank him in person.

Fantasy Game 2008 -- Beckie, Tue, Nov 06 2007, 2:07:02 [4]

A couple of ideas:

NO.1
Pick (2) cowboys AND (2) subs from each group! A total of 6..Your Sub must be lower in the Standings than your Cowboy.

Trading Peroids:

You may trade One Cowboy and One Sub. Both must be lower in the Standings.

If your Cowboy or Sub is NOT in the top 45 you May pick your Cowboy or Sub from the 35th. place down.

No.2
Pick 6 cowboys 2 from each group and No subs...if one gets hurt, .... your stuck with that till the next trading peroid then you can trade him away or keep him...and have more trading peroids

do you guys like one of these or have any other ideas? Let us hear what you like/want..

Good luck to all.

[> [> Re: Fantasy Game 2008 -- Gini, Tue, Nov 06 2007, 23:32:25 [1]

I think I like the 2nd option best. Less confusing and not as much to worry about ---- IF you do more trading periods in case there are alot of injuries.

[ Edit | View ]

[> Re: Fantasy Game 2008 -- Tracy, Wed, Nov 07 2007, 15:07:27 [1]

I like option 1 the best.... To me it's easier not to have to worry about trading or subbing all the time... it's already pretty much handled.

Whatever everyone else decides is fine with me... make it easiest on the scorers.

Im going to say Justin is going to re-group and win it tonight..Marchi and JB are on fire. I like all three of these guys and I wouldn't mind if JB won it all BUT I really think Justin deserves it because of the way his year has gone..but JB is from NC and just a few miles up the road from us and Marchi is a very nice and friendly guy..BUT...its not over till its over!

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!! That's all I can say....Round 2 looks like the Short Go at a regular BFTS event.....You've got Ednei on Scene of the Crash, Ned Cross on Copperhead Slinger, Paulo on Cochise, L.J. on Blizzard, Tony Mendes on Chicken on a Chain.....Scott Schiffner on Camo, Tater on Reindeer Dippin (I so hope he covers him for about 93 points!), Tyler Smith on Crossfire Hurricane and Colby Yates on Avalanche....all I can say is this round will be one to remember.

Just for fun anyone want to take a stab at the round winners for Rounds 1 and 2? For Round 1 I pick J.B. Mauney on Werewolf Snuff and for Round 2 I will go with Paulo on Cochise.

To all of you luck dawgs going to Vegas have a wonderful time, be safe and bring me back something nice.... LOL!

I sure hope they'll all be there since I'm going. Are you and your husband planning to attend Cincy, Mary?

Columbus and the 2007 Season Wrap Up -- Kris, Mon, Oct 15 2007, 23:43:08 [3]

So, the regular 2007 BFTS season has come to an end…can you all believe that the finals start in 3 short weeks? It’s amazing how fast this year has gone by. I had a great time at the Rocky Boots Invitational in Columbus! It was so nice to see all the boys again and to see our friends, Debbie and Pattie, from up north and our buddy Glenn from KY. I cannot forget to mention meeting Mary and Brian Angel while we were there. Mary is writing an article for a newspaper in Charleston about the PBR from a female’s perspective and interviewed me as well as my friend Robyn. What nice folks Mary and Brian are!! See that’s what I love about the PBR, I get to meet some wonderful people through the PBR. We all thought that Mike White’s arm was broken after he got stepped on in Round 1 but thankfully we were all wrong. Congratulations to Mighty Mike for winning Columbus. He sure couldn’t stop smiling all night! I don’t know how many of you were in Columbus when Ross Coleman rode Tuff Enough (not sure any more how they spelled it, I attribute that to old age and too many bull ridings..) for $100,000. I thought it was loud in Nationwide Arena then, wow that was nothing compared to deafening noise inside Nationwide this past Saturday night when Justin McBride covered Scene of the Crash for $200,000. The entire stadium was on its feet as soon as Justin gave that nod for the gate and for at least 10 minutes after the ride was over. It was awesome! I watched the event on FOX yesterday after I got home from Columbus and had to giggle a little watching JW, Ross and Brendon rooting for Justin and then climbing over the bucking chute to get to JT before the ride was even finished….it was funny and very endearing all at the same time. Those boys sure do love to see their buddies doing well. We got to sit with Billy Robinson’s wife and children both nights, what a lovely family. Poor Billy’s had his mouth wired shut now for a little over two weeks and has to eat, or rather drink, all his meals through a straw. I’m very happy for Billy that he’s now qualified for the finals! I got to talk to Tater for a few minutes and he is happily looking forward to being home more with his family. We all wish Tater the best in the future outside of the PBR. Dennis Johnson officially retired from bull fighting. During the event Dennis was presented with a plaque signed by numerous members of the PBR, all the guys came out to the arena floor to honor him and everyone inside Nationwide Arena was on their feet sending him out in style. It was a very touching moment for anyone who was there.

As many of you know, Quarter Horse Congress in going on each year during the PBR event in Columbus. Robyn and I got to go over on Saturday and then later met up with Debbie, Pattie and Glenn for some serious shopping. For anyone who is a horse lover, western wear lover, boot wearer, western décor lover, dog fancier, this is the place to be! Talk about some great shopping!!! If I had it, I could have easily dropped a ton of money in that place.

The PBR sponsored a really nice party for Luke “Titanium Tough” Snyder Saturday night, they served a buffet and had a live band. Luke seemed to be really appreciative of all the recognition he was receiving.

So, are you all just chomping at the bit for your Columbus scores now??????? I know, I’ve been a little long winded today….that’s just who I am. LOL! Your scores are below folks. On behalf of Beckie and I we would give our heart-felt thanks to all of you who participated in our FANtasy game this year. It has been a blast and such a treat to meet so many new people. Beckie and I are going to change things up a little for the 2008 Season (which starts in Cincinnati OH Nov 30!!!!). Congratulations to Eileen our very first KIBA FANtasy Champ, you sure were right on the money with your team selections all year! Maybe you should start working for a bookie..LOL!! Beckie will be coordinating with you regarding your prize. Thanks again to all of you for supporting the KIBA Bull Riding Bar, without y’all this sure would have gotten boring really fast… I hope you will all come back for next season’s FANtasy game and maybe we’ll get a few new players.

Team results and standings...just a little bit late..LOL! -- Kris, Mon, Oct 01 2007, 23:56:38 [2]

So, I’m a little slack again….I do apologize for being so late in getting your Grand Rapids Results posted, folks. I was a little busy at work last week, not to mention I was still recovering from going to the Grand Rapids event. We all had such a great time! Now I can’t wait to get to Columbus! I sure hated to see Adriano struggling so much in Grand Rapids but he got one covered yesterday at the event in Connecticut so maybe that will be that beginning of a streak for him. And here’s hoping that JW can put a few rides together over the next few weekends so that he will qualify for the Finals. It just won’t be the same if JW isn’t riding there. Ok, enough blubbering on and on and time to get to the results….

Good luck with all of your teams over the next two events folks. It’s been a pleasure for Beckie and me to host this FANtasy game on this website. And yes, we will do one again next year. Beckie and I have been talking about ways to change things up so when we solidify our plans we’ll let you all know in plenty of time to pick your 2008 teams.

Hi guys! I just thought I'd let you all know that I talked to Paulo last night and he says he is doing fine and that his wreck "wasn't that bad". Not from where I was watching! But you know these guys, they try to down-play that kind of stuff. Paulo is not riding this weekend in Grand Rapids, major bummer but understandable, but will be back next weekend. He also said that he was going today to get his teeth fixed. He was in good spirits and so happy to know that all of us are concerned about him. He's such a good guy.

Glad to hear that Justin's injury won't keep him out for the finals. And that wreck of Mike Lee's was scary for sure. He sure was lucky to walk away from that. That Frank Newsome sure is a hero, isn't he? And what about that bull pulling Adriano down like he did? I sure thought Adriano was going to have a huge mark on his face or even worse, a broken cheek bone like he had before. It sure was an "edge of your seat" event in Chihuahua. Glad that's over.

Always...always...always! Love to Adriano at the top of his game. Why does everyone have to keep yappin' about his age--like when Leah talked to him about the rematch on Sunshine. Let it go and just let him ride! And, it is just grand to see Chris Shivers smiling again. Have to wonder what goes on in their heads to help make the turn arounds when they have a rough spell.

Did anyone else hear Justin McKee say that if Chris failed to get some points this weekend he might be cut? If that is what I heard...I thought World Champions could not be bounced from the BFTS????

Mary, so nice to know someone else is as much a fan of Adriano as I am. : ) And girl, I am with you 150%, on the age thing. I get so tired of hearing them go on and on about his age. I hope he is still riding, like he did in Tulsa, when he's 40 and then they'll all have to eat crow!!!

As for the Champ thing...the PBR recently changed that rule, a cowboy has to be in the the top 45 to ride at a BFTS event. I, for one, think that is a fair deal... What about y'all? I mean if you think about it, its not fair for a guy who won the world championship who consistently stays ranked 50 or below to get to keep riding on the BFTS because that means one of the other boys, who might be struggling to stay on tour, doesn't get good draws and consiquently doesn't get good scores. I'm sure there are arguements for this new rule on both sides of the fence. I'm 100% for it myself.

I, too, would like to see the younger guys be able to move up, but there is also something to be said in consideration of the fan base that a world champ would have built up. People who love a rider would want to cheer him on through the lean times. Keeping them in the tour also shows a level of respect from the PBR for the cowboys who, at one time, were the best.

Collin and Rob look fantastic .....what a couple of cuties. I actually had see Rob and Collin in their matching shirts in Nashville. They both rode down the escalator then went right back up...I was going to ask to take a picture cause they both looked so cute in the matching outfits, but I didn't want to bother Rob cause it was "Daddy Time"...I just watched them go up and down on the escalator and thought that was definately the cutest thing ever..well that and little Addison McBride running and playing in her little pink cowboy boots on Sunday outside the back bar area.

OK... everyone who knows me, knows I'm not the most domestic person in the world and I'm all about easy.

Strawberry Shortcake...

Angel Food cake (store-bought, of course)
Frozen strawberries
Cool Whip
Splenda

Slice strawberries (as many bags as you want). Add Splenda (to taste). Layer cake, strawberries, and Cool Whip.

I also add blueberries sometimes. It becomes Red-White-Blue if you want to be patriotic.

Myrtle Beach Trip!!! -- Beckie, Tue, Jul 17 2007, 5:10:13 [8]

Hello Everybody!! Kris and I have been talking about putting together a Myrtle Beach trip this fall..maybe the end of Sept.. It would be a nice little get away for the ladies that have met over the years through the PBR to get together to chat away from all the PBR excitement. I have a few Motels in mind but I need to know how many would like to go. If you fly in I can pick you up at the airport. I can put a page on the website to let you know who will be going and the motel choices.
I think it would be alot fun to get together and shut the Bull.

right now from my end this is who wants to go...ME, Amee, Debbie and Patty. One motel that I have in mind has suites that will sleep 6 and a indoor pool for swimming or sitting for cocktails and chatting..

Right now I just need a ball park number of who is interested.

Thief River Falls Event -- Kris, Wed, Jul 11 2007, 20:41:53 [1]

Athletes in TRF bull ride include the bulls
Written by Scott DCamp
Jul 10, 2007 at 11:13 AM
Stock contractor and riders have a history with Thunder on Hooves. Advertisement

PBR’s top bulls to
appear at TRF event
Jerry Nelson is to professional bull riding what Superagents Drew Rosenhaus and Scott Boras are to the NFL and Major League Baseball. All three represent the best. But Nelson doesn’t represent the riders ... he represents the bulls.
Nelson, a resident of Winnie, Texas, got his start in the breeding of bulls for professional bull riding events by accident in 1991, when he met Johnny Ackel, a 2003 Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame inductee and 50-year rodeo veteran at a basketball game. He was immediately hooked, and by the mid-1990s, he was breeding his own bucking bulls.
Today, Nelson’s breeding operation, Frontier Rodeo Company, includes over 2,000 head of cattle, (500 bulls), including two top PBR bulls, the 2005 World Champion “Big Bucks” and “Scene of the Crash.”
Last year, Nelson cashed in on the two superstars, selling a half interest in each bull to Tom Teague of Teague Bucking Bulls. The seven-figure deal was one of the biggest in the industry to date.
His other bulls aren't too shabby either, and for the sixth consecutive year, Nelson’s “Bad Boys” will be appearing in Thief River Falls for Thunder on Hooves.
“The event in Thief River Falls has been a good event,” Nelson said. “It’s outdoors and it draws a nice crowd.”
So what makes Nelson’s bulls stand out from the pack? For starters, he doesn’t buy a lot of bulls, but he maintains a large stock. Nelson says every now and then he will purchase a mature adult bull, but most of his purchases are cows and calves.
He said genetics play the biggest role in determining how well a bull will buck. His bulls are bred and raised to buck.
Nelson said bulls will start bucking around the age of 3. They will reach their competitive prime around age 5 or 6 and around 9 to 10 years of age they will be worn out. “Kind of like an old ballplayer,” Nelson said. The lifespan of a bucking bull is 15 to 16 years, which Nelson says is not much different than that of a non-bucking bull.

2000 PBR champion to
compete in Thunder on Hooves
Tater Porter, will be among the competitors who will be tested by Nelson’s bulls during the 2007 edition of Thunder on Hooves. Porter, the winner of the 2000 PBR World Finals, is coming off a hip pointer injury.
“I had to sit out a few weeks, but other than that, everything’s great,” Porter said.
The PBR’s “Built Ford Tough Series” is off until the Express PBR Classic presented by Creek Nation Casino, July 20-22 in Tulsa, Okla., so many of the exempt BFTS riders, like Porter, will compete in U.S. Smokless Tobacco Challenger Tour events.
The two-day competition format of Thunder on Hooves and Bismarck U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Company Challenger Tour event will allow riders to compete in two events in the same weekend. Porter said this is a common occurrence during the Challenger Tour’s busy summer months. In some cases, riders will have to choose between four events in the same week.
“This is a busy time for the Challenger Series,” Porter said. “Guys will drive from event to event to event. There’s a lot of money to be made. Guys will make it or break it during this summer run.”
Porter said Thunder on Hooves has become one of the most popular stops on the summer portion of the Challenger Tour. He credits the payout, which is among the highest on the Challenger Tour, and the hospitality of the organizers for making it a popular competition.
“I like going to visit with ol’ Norrie [Thune],” Porter said. “There’s always a great crowd there; It’s going to be pretty hot; the bulls are very good and there’s plenty of cold beer afterwards. I always liked going there.”
2007 Thunder on Hooves Roster
Bull riders competing in the July 13-14 Thunder on Hooves event in Thief River Falls include: Rob Bell, Houston, British Columbia, Canada.; Corey Atwell, Moravian Falls, N.C.; Jason Bennett, Honey Grove, Texas; Zack Brown, Chino Hills, Calif.; Ednei Caminhas, P. He sent me this link and I told him I would at least put it on my website to help get the word out. Fantasy Game Results - Glendale AZ -- Kris, Mon, Jul 02 2007, 22:48:15 [1]

Wheeeeewww weeeeeeeee, Glendale was sure hard on our cowboys! I sure hate seeing all of those wrecks. I’m very happy for Robson Palermo for winning his second event this season. This boy’s sure got some bull riding talent. I see more wins in his future, that’s for sure. Well the PBR is on a break now until July 21st and 22nd when they return to Tulsa and the boys sure do need this break. I’m sure a couple of weeks will do them all a lot of good.

The following teams will received 100 bonus points for the Glendale AZ BFTS event as they all picked Robson Palermo to win.

Kristine
Fiddlefoot
Whitepine
Harley

I say all those other boys in the top five bettered watch out, that Palermo is a streak and he's one heck of bull rider. If he stays healthy he could still be a contendor for the world title. Sure hated to see all those boys get beat up so bad this weekend. Justin is so lucky he got away with just a concusion. And Valdinor, wow, that was an ugly ugly wreck too. I'm sure the boys are all very happy to have some time off, make that much needed time off. I'll have all the team scores posted later today.

Happy Monday....

Kris

Any of y'all playing the game? I think it's fun. Sure miss those bulls...

Who did y'all think the bulls were this past weekend?

I missed Round 1. The description I was given, I guessed Locomotive Breath.

I thought Round 2 was Rooster.

YEP!!! I remember... Those were the GOOD OL' DAYS!!!

Remember the lime green cowboy hat????

Also, remember Bubba riding Hollywood for 95 and Red Wolf for 96 and bucking off some little squirrelly bull in Round 2 Gas Hog (I think). He should have rode that bull and won that event. It was AWESOME though!

I had a BLAST at that event!!!!

recipes -- Mary Angel, Thu, Jun 28 2007, 17:13:41 [4]

Recipes would be great and doing a cookbook for the RRF would be even better. Maybe the wives of the riders would contribute, too,--maybe even some of the cowboys can cook! I've been a Weight Watchers person since January, so I'm very interested in the lo-cal versions.
My husband and I have an advertising agency, so we could help with the design and copywriting.
Is anyone interested in heading up a breakfast, coffee, etc. for the chat line members going to Columbus in October? It sounds like several people will be there.
Mary

Mary Angel, you must have been reading our minds. Beckie and I were just talking about that yesterday. I think it would be a great idea. So, to all of you who visit our website please brainstorm and share any ideas you have with us. Beckie or I will get in touch with the folks at RRF and see what they have to say about it. : )

If anyone has some good diabetic recipes that actually taste good, would you please post them? My husband is diabetic and it seems like all the things I make for him are just about tasteless. Guess it's that 'no sugar' thing. Thank goodness for Splenda or he'd really be in trouble! The easier the recipe the better for me too-----

Gini, here's an easy yummy desert....

1 package of your favorite flavor of sugar-free Jell-O
1 package softened cream cheese

Prepare Jell-O as directed, mix in softened cream cheese until well blended, refrigerate until set-up. You can top it with nuts or sugar-free whipped topping and it is great. Almost has the consistancy of cheese cake.

If you make this let me know how you like it. As I stumble acrros more I'll be more than happy to share.

recipes -- Beckie, Tue, Jun 26 2007, 16:34:49 [2]

What do you guys think about me adding a recipe page to the site? The recipes would come from you guys and myself and would be recipes that you have tried and like...I want this website to be about alot of things with the main focus on Bullriding...What about adding a page to where I can add pictures of our families?

Let me know what you think...should I stay away from that kind of thing or would you like the site to be more than bullriding or just keep it about bullriding?

Let me hear it!!!

Beckie.
I love the recipe idea, even though I really don't cook...LOL, I think it would be fun to have people's favorite dishes for everyone to share and try out. Like I said, I don't really cook, but I love making appetizers... etc for parties and get togethers with friends.
I also like the idea about putting up family photos(I always have loved seeing how Austin has grown over the years)on the site...it would be great. Since the bullriders are like a family as they cheer for and help out each other, this board could be like our "bullrider" family.

Recipes -- Beckie, Thu, Jun 28 2007, 0:04:19 [1]

At the request of Jeannie, I put my Summer Squash Relish recipe up and Kris sent me one that she says is easy and yummie... Im going to make it this weekend for a cookout.

If there is a recipe you would like let us know and we will find somebody that has it... I have tons of good ones.

Kris had a idea to kick around ...If we can get enough recipes to make a 'KIBA Cowgirl Cookbook' we may donate it to RRF..we will see how it goes.

Have a Great day everyone..stay cool.. it is 92* here today
