Hi Mary...Kris talked to Adriano in Nashville.. As far as I know he didnt say anything about his back hurting again but that could be the case in Dallas..I don't know how the cowboys body take it. I haven't heard anything about the headquaters..sorry. maybe someone else can tell us

ps... I have the Nashville pictures back up..slowly but surely Ill get them all back up...they may not be in the same place as before..lol.. but they will be back.

Mary Angel, Adriano has had back problems since he was like 10 yrs old and they are never going to go away. Unfortunately for him some days are good and some days are really bad but I'm sure if I were to ask him he would blame it on his head not his body. And Beckie is right, when we seen him in Nashville he seemed to be doing really well but I'm sure most of that had to do with him having his wife and the boys with him.

As for the new hq, I've not heard yet when they are moving in. If I do I will sure let you all know.

Fantasy Game Results - Dallas -- Kris, Mon, Jun 25 2007, 17:30:16 [1]

Results from the BFTS event this past weekend in Dallas are below. If you guys have time I’d love to hear your opinions about who you’d like best to see as the guest commentator in the announcer’s booth at the events. I think Jerome Davis would be an awesome permanent fixture there and I think that once JW decides to hang up his spurs that he would be awesome as a commentator, too. Let me know what you all think.

Congratulations to Justin McBride for his 7th BFTS event win this season. As I am sure you all know, he now holds the record for the most event wins in one season. The record was previously help by Cody Hart for his 6 wins in 1999, that same year he became World Champion. In Justin McBride, I think we have our 3rd bull rider to win 2 world championships. It’s going to be awesome to see how the “2nd” half of the season turns out.

I've got to tell you all that I had a wonderful time in Nashville!!!!!!!! I just can't think of a better way to celebrate by birthday. To Debbie, Pattie and Glenn, thank you so much for letting me tag along and thank you for the gifts, I already know what picture I'm going to put in the frame and the candle "Brazilian Passion Fruit" smells great! Going site-seeing at the Opry Land Resort was great, I'd never been and I'm so glad I got to see it. To Andrea and Leonard, thank you both for also being such great friends and for the purse and wallet, it's awecome. Again I have to apologize for my mistaken in picking Ripsy's for dinner on Sunday, it wasn't very good..... Next time we're in Nashville we'll eat at Demo's. While I was in Nashville I got to see Gina, Libby, Amanda, Erica and Misty again. Those are some crazy women...but so much fun! It was great to see you girls. It was also great to see Rob Bell do so good. And congratulations go out to Cody Whitney and his wife Cori (sorry if I spelled her name wrong) as they are expecting a little girl, Lilla, in September. Never seen Cody looks so happy as he did when he was talking about his wife and baby. And congrats to Chris and Kylie Shivers as they expecting another boy in July. The PBR family just keeps growing and growing.

Ok, well I guess I should get back to work. TTYL!!!!!!!!!

Hey! I DO actually live in WV and my husband and I are big fans of the PBR! Mike Lee is my favorite. I was watching the World Cup over the weekend but I missed what happened to Mike. All I caught was that he had a serious injury in the chute. So...who can tell me what happened to him and how is he? He just cannot seem to get a break from severe injuries this year! Kind of like Mike White a couple seasons ago.

I hope Justin McBride makes champion this year in Las Vegas. I would really like to see him make it. He is one "tough as nails" cowboy. I also want to see Chris Shivers make a strong come back in the 2008 season.
See ya! Karen

Where are you at in WV? We may be the only 2 WV fans!
My husband indulges my PBR interest--he pretends to be a fan. We went to Columbus last year and had a great time. We stayed at the DoubleTree and it was the site of all the action. All the cowboys are very friendly and willing to talk with the fans. It is a lot of fun to open the elevator door and there is Wiley or Adriano!

[> [> [> Re: WV fans -- Karen Smith (Karen Smith), Tue, Jun 12 2007, 17:37:47 [1]

Hey Mary! I live in Berkeley County, the Hedgesville. I think there are probably a lot of PBR fans in WV that just have not found this site, like myself. I just stumbled across it the other day doing a search for Mike Lee's accident at the World Cup. My husband is actually the one who got me started watching the Ford Tough series and got me hooked. I have not been to an event myself but as a gift I sent my husband to one in Jacksonville, FL last year with a buddy of his, they went to the after event party at a local bar and got to meet a few of the riders. They were very friendly, gave out autographs and such. He had a blast. He went to an event in DC a few years ago. I wish they would come to the DC area again, it is rare the the Ford Tough series comes to this area. My husband and his buddies are going to the Ohio event this fall, I think it is in October. One of theses days I will get to go to one.

You should come to Columbus in October! We are going again--already have tickets, etc. We could hook up all the men to go their way and we could go ours.
I'm very familiar with the Eastern Panhandle, especially the Martinsburg area. A couple of jobs I've had took me over there quite a bit. That is a beautiful area.
Seriously -- think about coming to Columbus along with your husband in October. Is anyone else in the chat line already planning to be in Columbus?

First of all, Karen, welcome to our website. Beckie and I are so happy to have you join us over here! Mary is right, you should try to make it to Columbus with you husband. In my opinion, Columbus is one of the very best events to go to. Being a Buckeye, it's my responsibility to promote the Columbus event...LOL! Really though it is a great event and with it being during the American Quarter Horse Congress there is so much to do there. And really there isn't a bad seat in the house at Nationwide Arena. Luckily for me I live about an hour and 15 minutes from Columbus so its an event I NEVER miss. I'm trying to talk Beckie, Andrea and Tracy (aka Hillbilly) to come to this event too. I am so blessed with the wonderful friends I've made in the last 10 yrs by going to all of these PBR events. This weekend my good friends Debbie and Pattie are going to Nashville and are stopping where I live to pick me up and take me with them. Is that not the sweetest thing?!! Like I said, I'm very blessed!

I was born in Toledo and finished high school in Cincinnati...Ohioians must be, by nature, rodeo fans!

What a great event to watch, I love to see team events. Congrats goes out to the Brazil boys they had a great team. I really wanted to say that even though we didn't have the best of riders on team USA, guys like Brian Canter and Willie Ropp sure did step it up for our country. The pressure that each team faced must of been really hard on the nervers. I really think this event will continue to be a sucess. Lee Akin Update -- Kris, Mon, Jun 04 2007, 17:13:00 [2]

Our Land

5/31/07 NEW UPDATE
Here is a new update on Lee from Mary:

Lee Akin at Rehab!!!!

Praise God from whom all blessings flow...............................

Lee went to rehabilitation today! Starting last Wednesday, there has been some incredible improvement with Lee. He's been talking a lot and moving a lot. When I say talk, A LOT of the talk is jibberish and cannot be understood. Although, there is some of the talk that is understood, "yes" "thank you ma'am" "sweet". A couple days ago I asked him if he would sing the ABC's with me to Jada, with some prompting he was able to sing along.
It's amazing to see how his brain is healing. At the rehabilitation center we have him at now, they are doing some really intensive therapy specifically for Brain Injuries.

It was interesting today, a nurse took some time to read all of the charts and doctors comments from the past weeks (12 tomorrow night to be exact). She said "This has truly been a miracle, hasn't it?" It was amazing for someone out of the picture to see the miracle taken place. All of the Doctors can't believe he's already come this far in only 3 months. I think ONLY??

God has been so faithful in His grace that he promises us. I found that in the first 11 weeks, I took it one day at a time and it was possible to endure. Now that I am seeing these signs, it feels like it's all been a dream, a bad dream but a dream. I want all you and everyone to know, that your prayers have helped get us through this time. We ask that you keep praying, we are believing and expecting for FULL recovery from this ordeal. Our Daddy will never leave us nor forsake us.

Thank you and WE LOVE YOU ALL.
-Mary and Jada Akin

Freedom! -- Beckie, Wed, May 30 2007, 18:10:31 [1]

Thanks Kris...I thought this would be a good place to pass this powerful message along!!!

Think about this: If you don't want to forward this for fear of offending someone-----YOU'RE PART OF THE PROBLEM !!!!

Will we still be the Country of choice and still be America if we continue to make the changes forced on us by the people from other countries that came to live in America because it is the Country of Choice??????

Think about it! All we have to say is, when will they do something about MY RIGHTS?

I celebrate Christmas...........but because it isn't celebrated by everyone.............we can no longer say Merry Christmas. Now it has to be Season's Greetings.

It's not Christmas vacation, it's Winter Break. Isn't it amazing how this winter break ALWAYS occurs over the Christmas holiday?

We've gone so far the other way, bent over backwards to not offend anyone, that I am now being offended. But it seems that no one has a problem with that.
This says it all!
This is an editorial written by an
American citizen, published in a
Tampa , FL Newspaper. He did quite a job; didn't he? Read on, please!

IMMIGRANTS,
NOT AMERICANS,
MUST ADAPT.
I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we
are offending some individual or their culture Since the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, we have experienced a surge
in patriotism by the majority
of Americans. However... ... the dust from the attacks had barely settled when the "politically correct! " crowd began complaining about the possibility that our patriotism was offending others.

I am not against immigration, nor do I hold a grudge against anyone who is seeking a better life by coming to ! America.
Our population is almost entirely made up of descendants of immigrants.
However, there are a few things that those who have recently come to
our country, and apparently some born here, need to understand.
This idea of America being a multicultural community has served only to dilute our sovereignty and our national identity. As Americans......
we have our own culture, our
own society, our own language and our own lifestyle. This culture has been developed over centuries of struggles, trials, and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom.

We speak ENGLISH, not Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language.
Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society, learn the language!

"In God We Trust" is our national motto. This is not some Christian, right wing, political slogan.. We adopted this motto because Christian men and women.......on Christian principles............. founded this nation..... and this is clearly documented.
It is certainly appropriate to display it
on the walls of our schools.
If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as
your new home........because
God is part of our culture.

If Stars and Stripes offend you, or
you don't like Uncle Sam, then you
should seriously consider a move
to an other part of this planet .
We are happy with our culture and have no desire to change, and we really don't care how you did things where you came from.
This is
OUR COUNTRY,
our land, and our lifestyle.
Our First Amendment gives every citizen the right to express his opinion and we will allow you every opportunity to do so !
But once you are done complaining...... whining..... and griping....... about our flag.......our pledge..... our national motto........or our way of life I highly encourage you to take advantage of one other Great American Freedom......

THE RIGHT TO LEAVE.

It is Time for America to Speak up

If you agree -- pass this along;
if you don't agree -- delete it - You are in the WRONG Country!
AMEN

I figure if we all keep passing this to our friends (and enemies) it will also, sooner or later get back to the complainers, lets all try, please

Not sure how they picked that team....looks like Team Brazil has a great team. Can't count out the Aussie's though, they grow their boys down there pretty dang tough and talented too.

I would like to know how they picked the teams too. The American's will have to be on top of there game to win that's for sure. Good luck to all the teams. I like when they have teams riding against each other. It's just alittle differant than a one man race. I would like to hear what other feel about the teams events?

On a side note….what do you guys think about the fact that the PBR never schedules an event on Mother’s Day but has an event (Nashville) scheduled on Father’s Day? I just find that odd. Dad’s are just as important as mom’s! Anyway, let us know your thoughts.

It is strange that PBR has a event on Fathers Day... Kris, you should take your Mom with you to Nashville.

As far as this weekend ...I will start packing for next Friday. We will be heading to NC Outer Banks ( Cape Hatteras) for 7 days.. My favorite place on earth! This year the house we rented doesn't have a computer ;o( looks like somebody would get me a laptop ;o)
Ill take alot of pictures to share.

Alright I'am going to let the cat out of the bag so to speak. I can't wait to go to Nashville. I wanted to surprise Beckie but It looks like she will not be attending that event this year. I really wanted all of us there together this year. Beckie if you read this me and Kris want you to come to Nashville. Have fun at the outer banks. Fried Twinkies -- Tracy, Thu, May 17 2007, 14:49:56 [6]

What is up with those people on Fried Twinkies? I can't believe the stuff they find to bitch and moan about.

They complain about how everyone talks, to how everyone writes, to spelling and grammar. AMAZING!

I really find it amusing when they start complaining about how the announcers today criticize people and then want Donnie and Tuff back. I remember when they complained all the time about Donnie talking bad about people.

It doesn't bother me when they criticize the guys. Generally speaking, they are "hitting the nail on the head" -- and as "B.C." posted over there -- a lot of times that constructive criticism has made some of them wake up and do better.

When I have good info I like to pass it along to the fans and everytime I do they want to question the info..I say screw them.. And Im not saying everyone on that board is like that, they arn't. [> [> Re: Fried Twinkies -- Kris, Fri, May 18 2007, 0:56:48 [1]

I'm with you both. We are all entitled to our opinions but give me a freaking break. I don't understand how it is those people call themselves bull riding/PBR fans when all they do is bash it and those involved in it. And Beckie, I think you hit the nail on the head with the "disgruntled girlfriend" comment. The PBR ain't perfect, the staff of the PBR isn't perfect, and certainly those that ride in the PBR perfect but the last time I checked only one perfect person has ever roamed this earth. If I had so many gripes about something I watched on TV all the time I sure hope that at some point common sense would kick in and I'd change the danged channel.

I got to tell you it went right through me when one of those posts suggested that Justin was less than intelligent....I mean come on, the guy is living his childhood dream (most never get to do that), he gets to hang out with his buddies every weekend, he married a woman he thinks that world of who thinks that world of him, he has a beautiful little girl...oh yeah and his a millionaire! Sounds pretty danged smart to me! Now he may be a smart-a&& from time to time but who of us isn't?

Glad we've got this m/b to chat on!

you know I love a good debate:o) but some of those people are just putting people down and saying down right mean personal things which is not a debate. And NO I dont agree with the PBR on some things but I still like bullriding.

Article about Chris Shivers from the Ada Daily News -- Kris, Sun, May 06 2007, 1:15:37 [1]

Chris Shivers rides into Ada

ADA — Two-time PBR World Champion Chris Shivers is coming to Ada! Shivers will continue his hunt for another world title when he joins the action at the Southern Oklahoma PBR Challenge Tour Friday at the Pontotoc County Agriplex. The action continues Saturday.

The Southern Oklahoma PBR Challenge Tour, brought to Ada by Out West Productions, LLC, begins each night at 8, but the Agriplex will be open for food and the PBR Trade Show beginning at 6:30 p.m. each day.

Shivers is a native of Jonesville, La., and was the first rider in PBR history to earn $3,000,000 in the arena. The 2007 season finds this world champion recovering from a serious injury suffered at an event in Honolulu in November. Now healthy and back to competing, Shivers is focused on qualifying for the 2007 PBR World Finals and claiming his third world title.

Considered one of the best bull riders ever to compete, Chris Shivers has once again made bull riding history. With a dominating performance at the Charleston PBR Classic event Jan.13-14 Shivers not only won the event but also surpassed the $3 million mark in career earnings, making him the first man in bull riding history to reach this mark.

The Charleston title was his 17th major PBR event title. Having his name etched in bull riding history is nothing new to Shivers.

Since he started riding professionally in 1997, he has recorded the following history-making firsts: the first PBR bull rider to win more than $300,000 in prize money in one year (1998); the first PBR bull rider to reach the $1 million mark (2001), the $2 million mark (2003) and the $3 million mark (2006); the first PBR bull rider to register 13, 90-point rides in one season (1998); the highest marked ride in PBR history (a 96.5 point ride); and the first bull rider to win three consecutive Bud Light Cup events (2000).

When not in the ring riding bulls, Shivers spends time with his wife, Kylie, and son, Christopher Brand. He also enjoys ranching, team roping and hog hunting.

The two-time world champion is sending a message to fans across the world that he has his eyes set on a third PBR championship buckle.

For more information about the Southern Oklahoma PBR Enterprise Classic contact Brenda Revels by phone at (580) 235-0193 or by e-mail at brevels@ cableone.net. Tickets are $20.00 general admission, $30.00 arena floor general admission, and reserved seating $50.00. Tickets are available at Steppin’ Out Western Wear, 430 East Main, Ada; Sharpe’s Department Store, 131 West Main; Stillwater Milling, Davis; Bean’s Western Wear, Ardmore; and Rene & Roy’s Western Wear, McAlester. Steppin’ Out Western Wear in Ada will be the only store selling reserved seating. Phone (580) 332-5100 for reserved seating.

Nampa -- Kris, Mon, Apr 30 2007, 17:18:25 [3]

Nampa proved to be a great event. Who would have ever thought there would be 6, count’em 6, 90+ point rides in one event. That was one heck of a short go, wasn’t it? And what about Diamond G Rodeo’s White Magic? That is an awesome bull, obviously they marked him 48 points. I sure hated to see Brian Canter get hurt again. I guess if there is an upside to his injury is that there isn’t another event until May 19th in San Antonio, TX at the Ford Country Classic and the next after that isn’t until The Jack Daniel’s Invitational in Nashville, TN June 16th and 17th. All of the boys that are out injured or suffering from nagging injuries will reap the benefits of these little breaks between events.

So I guess you are all wanting to know how you did this week with the game, well no one guessed the 90+ points rides correctly…who would have ever thought that there would have be 6 of them in one event???? Any way…your results are as follows:

Team Results
Pollum – 0
PSWinners – 175
Pat M. – 25
Debbie S. – 75
Pattie S. – 25
Kristine – 75

Dakota – 0
Cinch – 60
PSR – 25
Whitepine – 50
BJA – 60
Harley – 0
Pinky – 25
Linda – 0

As for Team Standings….Cinch continues to dominate the top spot. Congrats Eileen!!!

And for this to happen on or near your birthday is totally not fair. Hope your son does okay with the news. My heart goes out to him.

More (337)...Professional bull riding (PBR) is one of the fastest growing sports in America. It can be a tough, dangerous sport, and it takes a special kind of person to not only participate in bull riding, but to excel. Justin McBride, the 2005 PBR champion, current 2007 PBR standings leader and poster boy for PBR, is a good example of just what it takes. McBride gives us his special recipe for Frito Pie, how he deals with the pain inflicted by bucking broncs and what life is like on the PBR circuit.

You began calf riding at age 3 in Nebraska. How young is too young?

Three is pretty young. But my dad was there and wouldn't let me crash too hard. I'd say you wouldn't want to try it much earlier. You want to get out of diapers first.

You're known for your mental and physical toughness. Many still talk about your competing in the 2003 World Championships with broken ribs and a punctured lung. What gets you through the pain?

The fact that I want to win. Whenever I made decisions to ride after being hurt or after surgery, it's never been where I could get hurt any worse. Like, I rode right after I broke both bones in my leg a few years ago and just had surgery. Man, it hurt, but riding wasn't gonna hurt it any worse. If I could take it, my leg could take it. I think the desire to win and to be the best at somethin' will get you through most any pain.

At this point, what bone haven't you broken?

I haven't broken anything on this leg (grabs his left leg) yet.

What do you think about the recent trend to wear helmets?

I think you're going to see more and more of it. When I was a little kid getting on calves and other animals, I wore a cowboy hat. Now you're seeing when little kids are starting out, they're putting helmets on—which is a great idea but it's not for me. It's not my bag.

What word would best describe your relationship with the bull: fear, respect, love, hate, none of the above or all of the above?

Probably respect. I respect an animal that big that can turn so fast and jump so high. They're really athletic animals.

Some people consider Rocky Mountain oysters to be a delicacy. How do you feel about them?

I like 'em OK. I wouldn't consider 'em a delicacy but they're all right. Like, I eat 'em every year at my branding at the ranch.

Is that like how some native tribes would eat the heart of their enemy?

Well, at home I have beef cattle. You castrate the calves when they're little. So you cook 'em up at the branding. That's what you feed everyone for helpin' you (laughs).

In your line of work, you've seen a lot of bullshit, literally. How did that word come to get the meaning it does?

Bullshit? Man, I don't know. That's something I've never really thought about.

Is it fair?

I don't know. It fits well. Like Angela (turning to Angela Hiatt, PBR public relations and marketing manager sitting next to him) is full of bullshit sometimes. It just seems like the appropriate word to use. I don't know really know why it fits so well. It just does. Great word, though.

8 Seconds, a film about the life of Bull Riding World Champion Lane Frost, came out when you were in high school. At the time, what did you think of it?

Same thing I think about it today. It's a good movie. But it's a movie.

The final scene of that film shows Bull Riding Champion Tuff Hedeman riding a bull an additional 8 seconds in tribute to the deceased Lane Frost. Who would you ride an extra 8 seconds for?

I'd do it for any one of my buddies if I thought I could stay on an extra 8 seconds. I might just have to say "I'm doing it for 8 seconds for you." But that was a cool thing Tuff did in memory of his friend. And I've got a few good buddies I'd do something like that for.

There are movies and there's reality. One of the protagonists in the film Brokeback Mountain was a professional bull rider. How many gay riders are on the circuit today?

Whoa, whoa, whoa! I've never seen Brokeback Mountain, but I don't think that's the story line. They're like sheepherders or something, aren't they?

The Jake Gylenhall character is a professional bull rider.

Well, I don't know how many gay bull riders there are or if there are any. I'm sure there probably are. I don't know.

The Sports Business Journal reported that in 2005 you were the 11th highest earning athlete in professional sports.

Yeah man, that was a typo. Maybe the 511th. They printed it, but it's incorrect. I know it was just for on-the-field performance but it's still not even close. The 90th golfer would've beaten me. I saw it, and I was like, "Whoa, was there a check come in that I didn't know about?" I think the way they figured it was maybe wealthiest per second, but the way they wrote it in there, it didn't sound that way at all.

You've starred in a Fritos Corn Chips national television ad campaign. Give us your special recipe for a Frito Pie.

Start with the Fritos of course. Then my wife makes a chili up. And I pour it on top of the Fritos and then I pour some cheese on it. Do it in that order. And maybe I'll put some sour cream [on, too].

What's the average age of retirement for a bull rider?

It's gettin' shorter every year. With the better the bulls are and the more events we have, I think if you make it to your mid-30s, you've really [gone] a long time.

What's the projected Justin McBride retirement age?

Just as quick as possible (laughs). I'll say no further than 30. That'll be it.

After that, what are you going to do?

I'm gonna do whatever I want. That'll be pretty much what I do. Hang out on the ranch. When it's summer time, I'll fish, and when it's winter time, I'll hunt.

3-time PBR champ Moraes thriving at 37
By JOE KUSEK
Of The Gazette Staff

He should have been angry. He should have been disappointed.

Instead admiring his grit, they were calling for his retirement.

Even the president of the organization he had represented so well for more than a decade told a national television audience that it was time for him to quit.

Rather than being displeased, Adriano Moraes stretched on his stomach and let a pair of chiropractors work his aching back.

"I think they were probably right," said Moraes of the burgeoning talk of retirement that surrounded him during the Professional Bull Riders World Finals in Las Vegas last November.

"Maybe I should have quit," Moraes added with a smile. "They said it out of concern ... it was a show of appreciation. There are just a few of us over 35, 36 years old. They said I should retire, I think so too."

The muscular Moraes was staggered by back spasms after the fifth round. His chiropractor from Texas flew in to Las Vegas and another local chiropractor helped out.

"I let it go too long," Moraes said of his back problems. "I wasn't able to move. I could barely walk."

Three nights later, Moraes became the PBR's first three-time world champion.

And he certainly earned it.

Moraes, who entered the 2006 PBR World Finals sixth in the point standings, won the seventh round with a 91.25-point ride and capped off his amazing comeback with a thrilling 93-point ride to win the championship round. When Kody Lostroh got bucked off, Moraes had edged fellow countryman Guilherme Marchi by a scant 342 points.

PBR president Ty Murray gladly gave Moraes full credit for his accomplishment as the Brazlian bull rider celebrated at the Thomas and Mack Arena with his family.

On Friday night at the PBR's NILE Invitational, the PBR's oldest competitor celebrated his 37th birthday.

"It's tough being away from the family on your birthday," said the charismatic Moraes, always a PBR fan favorite. "But this is a good way to celebrate, being here with plenty of friends."

And hopefully, riding four bulls during the weekend at MetraPark Arena.

"I'm not ready to retire," Moraes said. "I love the sport too much to stay away.

"I get excited when the weekends come. I love leaving home on the weekends and going places to ride bulls. I just love to still ride bulls."

Moraes was bucked off by Evil Forces in 7.7 seconds in Friday's first round. The event continues with a 6 p.m. performance tonight and concludes Sunday with a 2 p.m. performance. Both Saturday and Sunday performances will be televised on Versus.

Moraes arrived in Billings on somewhat of an upswing. After going 0 for 5 during a stretch, he rode three bulls to win the Ty Murray Invitational three weeks ago in Albuquerque, N.M. He missed his first bull after his flight from Dallas was cancelled. Moraes lives in Keller, Texas.

It was his first Built Ford Tough Series victory of the year and the 33rd of his career. The 33 wins is a PBR record.

"Albuquerque was great," said Moraes, who also won PBR world titles in 1994 and 2001.

"It came at the right time at the right place. It's a prestigious event and I had never won there before."

Moraes rode his first two bulls at Auburn Hills, Mich., last week before getting bucked by the bull Dr. Proctor. "That's going to happen," he added a shrug.

One place he has won was Billings, prior to when it was a PBR event.

"We like the atmosphere," said Moraes of why Billings is the PBR's longest, continuous sanctioned event. "It's a place where we know everybody. It's one of our favorite places."

Billings Results and Team Standings -- Kris, Mon, Apr 23 2007, 16:48:49 [2]

Happy Monday to all of you! Looks like J.B. Mauney ain’t cuttin’ Justin any slack. That North Carolina boy sure is a talented bull rider. This year’s race for the Championship is going to be very exciting to watch. Sure hated to see Steven Shelley limping around after his rides like he did! Those sprains hurt way worse than any broken bone. And what about Chris Shivers? I know he is terribly frustrated with the way things have been going since he came back from injury. Here’s hoping he can turn that around soon, he is way too good of a bull rider to be bucking off the way he has. So I guess that is enough of my ramblings…I’ll get to scores now. Team Cinch is still in the lead with BJA trailing by 75 points now. I hope you are all enjoying playing our game, its sure fun for me to see how everyone does from event to event.

Auburn Hills, MI -- Andrea, Mon, Apr 16 2007, 22:03:25 [1]

Had a great time at the event this weekend. I didn't think they had the best bulls there. Wiley Petersen got on three bulls in the second round first bull he had Denny Crane he scored 73.75 and was offered a re-ride he then got a score of 78.25 with a R/R. he rode all his bulls and still only getting a score of 81.25. That sucks all his bulls were terrible. Poor guy he worked really hard in the second round. I think he should have gotten another R/R. Sometimes I wonder about the judging at these events. I agree with Kris on Rob Bells ride. All in all it was a good event with Justin getting the win. He is on a rolls with all his wins this season. Kris, Robyn and I had a nice time talking before the event started. Thanks sis for the gift. Beckie wish you could of come to MI for the event we all missed ya.

Greetings from Auburn Hills! Robyn and I are having a blast, just got back from lunch with Adriano, Paulo, Ednei, Silvinei, Robson, Fabricio and Guilherme. Those guys are a riot to be around. We've been able to visit a little with all of the boys and it's been great. These events starting at 7:30 are killing me, I'm used to have much more time during the day to relax before going to the event at night. The after party last night was pretty decent. How funny it is to see a bunch of cowboys dancing to rap music!!!! Seems as if everyone is doing really good and for the most part all the boys seem healthy. Robyn and I spoke with Rob Bell "Stinkin Tail" last night and needless to say he was not happy about Round 1. In Rob's defense, he got fouled in the chute but the back judge, D.O., didn't either notice it or did not feel like it would have affect Rob's ride. I, personally, think Rob got screwed. Here's hoping all the boys doing great tonight and that there are no injuries. Did talk to Amy, Ross C's g/f, and she said Ross is having no issues adjusting to the helmet, that he started out riding with a helmet on way back when so this was really no different.

I hope to have time tomorrow to post some pictures. I got some pretty good ones last night and this afternoon at lunch.

TTYL!
Kris

Charter SUCKS anyway. I FOUGHT with them on pretty much a daily basis the entire time I had them. From money issues to programming issues to lack of service issues -- I am probably their biggest critic. Get DirecTV or Dish. I have always hoped everyone would cancel service with them and they would be put out of business.

[ Edit | View ]

[> [> Re: Charter Cable Co -- eileen, Wed, Apr 04 2007, 5:19:18 [1]

I have to agree that Charter sucks. I used to have Charter cable and I had so many problems with them. I had all the movie channels as well as an internet connection with them and I never could watch a movie cause the channels would always black out sometime during the movie. My internet was sooo slow and I was paying for their fastest service. I switched over to DirectTV about 2 1/2 years ago and have not had a problem with them. I love my DirectTV. My DirectTV has only gone out a few times and that is only when there is a bad thunder/lightening strom and then it would come back on within 5 minutes. Charter on the other hand would go out for hours. I would highly recommend getting DirectTV over Charter any day.

[ Edit | View ]

[> [> [> Re: Charter Cable Co -- Tracy, Thu, Apr 05 2007, 2:09:52 [1]

Same here... only time our DirecTV goes out is during SEVERE storms or EXTREMELY hard rain... can't pick up the signal from the tower.

My dish was even installed during a snow storm and the guy was sick... because my brand new TV had just been delivered that day... can't argue with that customer service.

Charter NEVER made me happy and didn't seem to care at all.

Ty Murray Invitational -- Kris, Mon, Apr 02 2007, 17:41:51 [3]

So, all I can say is “WAY TO GO MORAES!!!”. I knew Adriano still had it in him to compete with the young guys. I am so happy to see him break out of the slump he was in. Seems like just when everyone starts to count him out that he rallies and rides like the champ that he is. I sure hope this is the beginning of a much better season for him.

PBR: Former Champ Comes Through

By Michael Beniash
Journal Staff Writer
Justin McBride is no stranger to being on top of a bull.
The 27-year-old bull rider from Elk City, Okla., won his first and only Pro Bull Riders Built Ford Tough Series world title in 2005. And he currently is the tour's all-time leading money winner ($3,342,031).
This season, the nine-year veteran has taken his riding to a higher level.
Heading into this weekend's Ty Murray Invitational, McBride was leading the tour standings by 904 points over J.B. Mauney (Mooresville, N.C.) and 3,382 ahead of third-place Guilherme Marchi (Sao Paulo, Brazil).
"It's been really good so far this year," said McBride, who missed last season's Albuquerque event to take time off for the birth of his first daughter, Addisen. "I've really come back hungry and I'm staying healthy, which always helps."
Saturday night at Tingley Coliseum, McBride's hunger persisted. After delivering a 85.75 on Friday, McBride scored a 84.25 atop Texas Two Step, a bull he rode on his way to victory in the Tampa, Fla., event. The ride put the 5-foot-8 cowboy in fifth place (170 points) and in contention for a record-tying sixth title this season.
"That was just a big, fat bull," an energetic McBride said. "He just spins in tight little circles."
Asked if he was disappointed with his score, McBride said, "Every time I ride a bull, I always think my score should be higher than it really is."
The only two New Mexico riders in the competition didn't fare as well. Texico's L.J. Jenkins was bucked off Deuces Wild, making him 0-for-2 in the event. Travis Briscoe, who scored 82.5 on Friday, couldn't ride Get Western. He held on for 6 seconds, but "flat got bucked off."
"It's nice to compete for my home fans, but any time I don't ride all the way through it's disappointing." he said.
While Briscoe was not happy after his fall, he has plenty to smile about at home. The Edgewood native recently moved to Stephensville, Texas, where he lives in a four-bedroom house on 50 acres with his new fiancee Jessie Springer, 19.
The second round began like the first round ended— with the bulls dominating. Only 12 riders scored the first day. But Sao Paulo, Brazil's Adriano Moraes, the reigning tour champion, quickly changed that. He rode Stray Cat for the highest score of the night (88.25). Eight of the next 10 cowboys had successful rides, much to the delight of the near-sellout crowd.
Moraes, who missed Friday's ride because his flight from Dallas was canceled, was excited to compete back in New Mexico.
"I always like riding here," Moraes said. "And it doesn't matter that I missed a day. I'm here just trying to ride all my bulls."
Kasey Hayes, 21, from Liberal, Kan., is the leader with 177 points. Following is Marchi (173) and Kody Lostroh (170.5).
Hanging strong is Tater Porter, 36, the second-oldest rider on tour, behind Moraes, 36. The gray-haired cowboy from Kenansville, Fla., sits 10th with 161.25 points.

Professional Bull Riders and Spire Capital Partners Team Up to Continue Growth of the Most Exciting Sport on Dirt
3/20/2007

PBR, the leading professional bull riding organization, partners with media investor to continue its growth and expansion
New York, NY (March 20, 2007) – It has been announced today that the Professional Bull Riders, Inc. (PBR) and Spire Capital Partners (Spire) have reached an agreement in which Spire will become the majority investor in the leading global professional bull riding organization, subject to shareholder and regulatory approval and closing of the transaction pursuant to the terms of the agreement. This partnership will provide many of the retired bull riders with the opportunity to realize portions of their original investment and will provide PBR with additional resources to continue its significant growth trajectory. This transaction is expected to close in mid-April.

Headquartered in Colorado Springs, Colo., PBR was founded in 1992 by 20 accomplished bull riders who had a vision to make bull riding a stand-alone sport. PBR currently operates four domestic tours, including the Built Ford Tough Series presented by Wrangler, U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Company Challenger Tour, Enterprise Rent-A-Car Tour and Discovery Tour, and has a rapidly growing presence in international markets, including Brazil, Mexico, Australia and Canada. The strength of the PBR brand and the loyalty of the fan base have enabled the PBR to attract an impressive roster of blue-chip sponsors and partners. PBR’s competitions can be viewed regularly on its cable channel partner, VERSUS, every Saturday and Sunday at 8:00 p.m. ET. In addition, the PBR will have nine events televised on the FOX and NBC networks in 2007.

Announcing the partnership, Randy Bernard, Chief Executive Officer of PBR, stated, “We are honored to continue building the preeminent brand in bull riding and providing the highest quality product to our fans, sponsors, television partners and strategic partners. The existing management team will continue running the business and we are thrilled that many of the active and retired riders will maintain a meaningful ownership interest in the PBR.”

“We are extremely pleased to be supporting Randy Bernard, Sean Gleason, and the employees and athletes of the PBR as they continue to build awareness of the sport and provide exciting competition for the fans and compelling value for the corporate sponsors,” stated Rick Patterson of Spire Capital Partners.

Ty Murray, President of the PBR, commented, “I am very excited for the new opportunities this transaction will provide for the PBR. This is a very exciting time for the bull riders that had the vision in 1992. It is a great time for the bull rider of today and a promising time for the bull rider of tomorrow.”

Bear, Stearns & Co. Inc. served as financial advisor to the PBR. Faegre & Benson LLP provided legal counsel to the PBR and Sonnenschein, Nath & Rosenthal provided legal counsel to Spire. Terms of the transaction will not be disclosed.

For more information about the PBR’s partnership with Spire Capital Partners, watch the VERSUS broadcast on Sunday, March 25, 2007 at 8:00 pm ET of the PBR’s Omaha Classic presented by DeeZee.

About the PBR – PBR is the leading global professional bull riding organization founded in 1992 and headquartered in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Over 100 million viewers across the world tune in each year to view the PBR on FOX, NBC, VERSUS and numerous non-domestic networks. With approximately 500 hours of prime time programming annually, PBR ranks among the most prolific sports on air, in addition to attracting over one and one half million live event attendees each year with its multi-tiered event structure which includes the marquee Built Ford Tough Series presented by Wrangler, the U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Company Challenger Tour, the Enterprise Rent-A-Car Tour, and the Discovery Tour, designed specifically for entry level contestants. The PBR has over 1,200 PBR bull riders competing in more than 300 PBR sanctioned competitions in the United States, Australia, Brazil, Canada, and Mexico annually. Well, I'm not sure how I feel about it quiet yet BUT I have a bad feeling about it for the cowboys..I hope everything stays the same and again BUT Im worried that the PBR is about to change big time with rules and cowboy availability to fans. I feel it will be more of a business and not a fan sport. And we all know that is part of the appeal. I hope Im wrong..however, Im happy I have got to know some of the cowboys on a personal level and have got all the autographs anyone could want not to mention the tons of pictures..I know Im rambling but like I said Im not sure just yet.. Hey Guys...dont be too disappointed if Tony doesn't make it :o( He is having travel problems.. Hopefully he makes it safely. This is a message from Jag on the Bull Sheet.

Jag...

For all you Tony Mendes fans... He's supposed to be in Tacoma this weekend as an alternate but... He's in Bridgeport, Connecticut tonight and we are in the middle of some serious bad weather! Suzan and I were supposed to meet up with him but we can't get down there. He's going to ride in an Enterprise event tonight. I talked with him a little while ago and he really wants to get out to Tacoma tomorrow and is looking at heading south to see if he can get a flight. Original plan was for him to fly out of Providence, R.I. but who knows if that airport will be able to get flights out. What a bummer!! Wouldn't you just know that this stupid storm has to come now instead of a couple of days before, or after, this weekend! Anyway, I know that a lot of you were looking forward to seeing Tony back on the BFTS this weekend and I hope he's able to make it as long as he does it safely. So that's the story if you don't see him tomorrow night. I don't know how he's going to find a way there but if there is a way, I know he'll find it!
