World Cup Event -- Beckie, Sat, Aug 29 2009, 1:23:49 [2]

First World Cup snag! Teams are in small uproar b/c they all need to switch the rowels on their spurs to the Brazilian standards.

IMO...this is crazy. they should have known about this a long time ago so the guys could have been practicing.

you can follow on Tweeter

[> Re: World Cup Event -- Tracy, Sun, Aug 30 2009, 16:44:03 [1]

Sounds to me like Brazil was trying to gain a little upper hand, in an UNDERHANDED way.

If it was PBR santioned why would the same spurs and rowels that they ride with every week, not be in compliance. And... this coming from Brazil that has been penalized repeatedly in the PBR for illegal spurs and rowels.

And, I do agree, if the spurs were going to be illegal in Brazil, why were they not advised of this way before now.

Hello! -- Beckie, Tue, Aug 25 2009, 3:03:19 [1]

Hello everyone.. Just back today (Monday) from a great in the NC mountains. We had a little with our camper last Sunday on the way up but got it fixed and had so much fun. The campground was pretty empty which I loved. Austin loves to go camping but he likes it better when there are more kids there. He rode his bike, played in the creek, hiked, watched movies, went fishing and much more. The campground host said they had had a little with black beard this season. We didnt think much about it w-e-l-l until one came thru our campsite.lol.. he was just passing thru looking for food.lol
We had a few visitors while at the campground, Amee got to come up for the weekend and Clint, my brother-in-law and his girlfriend came one evening.

no cell phone and no computer for 8 days...just peace and quiet..I loved it.

we need to get this website fired up..we are thinking about not having the Fantasy game next year because of the lack of players. I love having the game...we will see how it goes in the next few weeks.

Who is going to the finals??? Im not going this year:o(
Who are you pulling for???

Everyone knows Im a NC gal and JB is my man!!!

School starts tomorrow,Tuesday, so I will be picking Austin up each day. My big 1st grader is growing up.

WHERE'D EVERYBODY GO?????? -- Gini, Tue, Aug 25 2009, 1:15:04 [1]

Just wonderin' what happened to everybody? No updates in awhile. This has become as dead as the BullSheet.
Wanna start some new Q&As or something?
I'll start. Is anybody UNable to get the PBR Blog audio to work besides me? Do I need something special to access it with? Never been able to listen since Reese started it awhile back. Yep, asked the PBR guy about it. He just said it was working fine.
Hope everybody is okay and having a great summer.

Matt Bohon update -- Beckie, Thu, Aug 06 2009, 20:35:15 [2]

Thanks to Mrs LaBeth for the update on Matt.

I talked to Matt last night, and he sounds really good. Said he has a steel plate in his lower jaw and braces on his lower teeth, but they did not have to wire his mouth shut, and he talks very clearly and is able to eat soft stuff - said his mom made him a big pot of chicken/noodles. Mom and Dad are coming home today. Said his teeth and his shoulder blade hurt, but other than that, he is feeling good.

Also, happy for Dusty LaBeth.. he won the event in Goodland KS last night!!

Those were the good ol' days. Remember in Charlotte when we were at the auction for Jerome and Danny was standing there and right behind him stood The Varnadore Building? How funny. And remember Frank dumping Tuff in the pool at the hotel, fully dressed? That is a memory I will keep forever! That's where I got to meet Beckie and Tracy both...that was the best part of the trip.

See, the PBR is good for something other than just superior bull riding. LOL! I'm working from home this week and doing pretty good. Still having to have to go and have blood drawn every day and give myself shots twice a day. I can handle all of that because it's keeping me alive and on my way to good health. God sure was watching out for me and must have some bigger plans ahead in my life. Again, thank you to each and every one of you, your friendship has made all the difference in my life.

Cord McCoy -- Kris, Thu, Jun 25 2009, 21:34:34 [1]

Heroes
McCoy rescues princess; bucks off unicorn

PUEBLO, Colo. (June 24, 2009) - This time of year moviegoers flock to theaters by the millions in anticipation of summer blockbusters headlined by one superhero or another.

But for one particular four-year-old, Emma, her personal hero is a professional bull rider, specifically Cord McCoy.

Earlier this week, McCoy was with spending a day off with his girlfriend when the pair decided to visit her cousin, who had never before ridden a horse. When they arrived, McCoy asked if she’d like to take a ride him around the ranch on horseback.

“She said, ‘Yeah, I want to ride a unicorn,’” McCoy recalled.

The Oklahoma native, known among PBR fans as one of the friendliest and good natured athletes, set out to make her wish come true.

He used an empty Pringles can to construct a horn, which he covered in silver duct tape before fastening it on the top of his horse’s head. Then to add to the moment, McCoy’s girlfriend gave him a black cape that fluttered in the wind as he loped into the backyard like a hero there to rescue his princess.

He pulled her up and the two rode around, took some photos and talked about the unicorn before dropping her back off.

That was when McCoy actually looked a lot like Superman. As he went to ride off the horse ducked its head and sent him over the top.

“Monday was the first day I was ever bucked off a unicorn,” joked McCoy. “It wouldn’t have been so funny if I wouldn’t have had the cape.”

However, on a serious note, when not riding unicorns, McCoy has begun competing at lower-level PBR events in an effort to ride his way back onto the Built Ford Tough Series.

But it’s been a bit more painful than expected.

After being cut following the Kansas City event, McCoy began experiencing severe pain in his shoulder to the point he couldn’t lift his arm above his head. At that point, it had already been ten days since he had last ridden so the 28-year-old knew something was wrong.

While he thought he might need to go ahead and have surgery, Dr. Tandy Freeman suggested that McCoy’s shoulder was simply worn out and that he could possibly work it back into shape with assistance from a physical therapist.

Initially McCoy admits he didn’t think the sessions were working, but at the end of eight weeks he was finally able to do pull-ups, pushups “and was raring and ready to go.”

“If I guy has to fly, take a taxi or a train or whatever to get an appointment with Tandy,” McCoy said, “he’s definitely the place to go.”

He’s been competing for the past three weeks and even rode well enough to win his own event last week.

Between know and the end of the summer run, known as cowboy Christmas, McCoy said he figures he’ll need to win approximately another $10,000 in order to qualify for the Tulsa event as an alternate.

“Tulsa’s my goal,” said McCoy, who has been traveling of late with Harve Stewart. “It’s what I’m shooting for. Every opportunity I’ve had to go to an event I’ve been going.

PUEBLO, Colo. (June 16, 2009) — The ongoing violence in Mexico has impacted the life of one of the PBR's own.

On Monday afternoon, at approximately 4 p.m. local time, Rocky McDonald's uncle, Merdith Romney, was kidnapped just outside of Janos, Chihuahua. Romney is an American citizen.

"We're still waiting for the ransom call," said an obviously subdued McDonald, in a late-night interview.

According to what little information is known at this time, McDonald said that Romney and another family member, perhaps one of his two sons, were leaving their ranch when the truck they were riding in was cut off by another vehicle waiting out on the main road.

The gunmen shot out the tires of Romney's truck. For reasons that are unclear, the men were only interested in Romney. After forcing him into the other vehicle, the gunmen sped off in a direction away from town.

"This is a tragic event that has taken place" said PBR CEO Randy Bernard. "Mexico is a great country and it's sad to see this happening.

"The PBR is committed to doing whatever it is we can to help Rocky and his family."

Romney, who is the brother of McDonald's mother, is president of an organization that oversees the tracking down of cattle thieves. It has yet to be determined whether the kidnapping is any way associated with the recent prosecution of cattle rustlers.

According to McDonald, calls have been placed to Chihuahua governor Jose Reyes Baeza Terraza, and the Federales along with the FBI are working to track down the gunmen and locate Romney.

Bernard has been in contact with Gov. Baeza, who is also committed to helping secure the safe return of McDonald's uncle.

The family remains optimistic that he will be safely released from captivity, and are hoping anyone from the area with any knowledge of the situation will come forward with the information.

They're also asking anyone with political connections to either the American or Mexican governments to contact those persons to make them aware of the situation.

"We're hoping to know more today," said McDonald, who is planning to travel 100 miles from his ranch in Col. Juarez to Janos.

Chihuahua is a state in northern Mexico — bordering Texas and New Mexico — with a total population of 3.2 million residents, and is known for its namesake the Chihuahuan Desert.

The state of Chihuahua played a historically pivotal role in the Mexican Revolution and was a battleground between revolutionary forces led by Poncho Villa and federal forces.

Is this the same Chihuahua that holds the PBR event? Maybe the PBR needs to think about the kidnappings of Americans before scheduling another event down there. What do ya'll think?? Please keep Rocky and his family in your prayers.

With all of the gangs and the drug wars going on in Mexico, I wouldn't travel there for love or money right now. Some of these drug wars have made their way into Texas and its just not good. I too think the PBR needs to seriously rethink having an event in Mexico until their government regains control of that country. I know that's not fair the good folks there in Mexico that love bull riding but safety has to be the PBR's first concern.

Off To Bolivia -- Kris, Mon, Jun 15 2009, 23:16:25 [2]

PUEBLO, Colo. (June 12, 2009) - By nature, professional bull riders are not observers.

They’re what you would call active participants. And that’s exactly why, for the better part of eight years, Todd Pierce has provided the PBR with more than a place of worship.

In fact, on Sunday, Pierce along with Mike Lee, D.J. Domangue and Jody Newberry will be taking part in a 10-day mission trip down to Bolivia.

According to Pierce, Bolivia is the poorest country in South America, and the PBR representatives will be traveling to the poorest region of Bolivia to help rebuild a local church – basic construction work – as well as to help work to reestablish several cattle herds, which have been devastated in recent years.

“We’re going to be part of the distribution of some cattle down there,” Pierce said. “By us being there it’s going to draw a lot of media attention. … Bringing the attention to the needs down there is hopefully going to help get other people involved.”

They will also participate in a large outreach program being organized by Samaritans Purse, which is a division of the Billy Graham organization, lead by Billy’s son Franklin Graham.

That particular event will consist of a gathering of all the locals into one arena, where they will put on an exhibition of cowboy skills. Pierce will break a horse along with a message that illustrates love. Depending on the (non-bucking) bulls, the trio of riders might also display their skills.

They also hope to meet, mentor and work with many of the local kids in an effort to inspire a sense of hope.

“The mystique of the American cowboy, in other nations, is quite a draw,” Pierce said.

Aside from the growing interest in mission work, Pierce’s efforts are evident at nearly every one of the Built Ford Tough Series events as well as the PBR World Finals.

The road traveled by a bull rider can be a long and lonely journey, and Riding High Ministries, formerly known as PBR Outreach, offers riders and fans alike a chance to come together for Sunday church services—and it also gives everyone involved a unique opportunity to give back to the communities that have helped make the PBR the success it is today.

“We do more than entertain,” Pierce said, “We inspire.”

For instance, during the Ty Murray Invitational in Albuquerque, Pierce organized an all-day activity for area orphans, who took part in the Sunday-morning service and then had a pizza party before watching the event.

Some of the riders who regularly participate in various stateside activities are Kody Lostroh, Wiley Petersen, Dustin Elliott, Travis Briscoe, Reese Cates, Josh Koschel, Ryan McConnel and Michael Manes, along with Cord McCoy, Austin Meier, Ryan Dirteater, McKennon Wimberly and others.

The top riders in the world understand it’s an honor to compete on the BFTS, but according to Pierce, the real privilege comes with “being in a place to encourage others, especially those with great need.”

One special note about the current trip to Bolivia is that each of the participants is paying his own way to Bolivia and, according to Pierce, the average plane ticket was approximately $1,500 (coupled with the more than $300 worth of vaccinations they each had to have before leaving).

Bull riders live the majority of their lives away from home, which is yet another reason Pierce is thankful that the trio of riders is willing to give up even more of their family time. But in keeping with the growing spirit of the PBR, their popularity is such that Pierce said organizers are expecting large crowds of Bolivians to attend various meet-and-greets and autograph signings.

“I do have an agenda,” he said, “to increase our ability to serve people and maximize the influence of our athletes.”

***Sure makes me proud to be a fan of such a great organization such as the PBR.

Hi all. I just wanted to pop in and see how everyone's summer is starting off and to see what y'all have planned for the summer. As of right now, the only plans I have are a trip to the Zoo with my mom for my birthday in a few weeks. I would so love to head south to NC and gather my crazy hillbilly friends and head for the beach. Hope y'all are doing great!

Hi Kris! The only plans we have for summer is the Tulsa PBR and a trip to south Louisiana to visit good friends. SE Oklahoma is so hot, humid and windy that most of the time its too hot to even go to the lake.
Beckie, I got my reservations to the finals this year, we opted to stay at the Gold Coast again, got my airline tickets last Thursday, roundtrip Tulsa to LV was $172.00 a person, not too bad.
Hope everyone has a great summer!

SO-----what did you think of the special? My favorite was Brooks and Dunn and I was disappointed Garth didn't sing. And they didn't do my favorite Strait song "Chill of an Early Fall" but all in all it was a good two hours. Does anyone know if Bubba has gotten married or was that just his girlfriend with him? Very cute.

I thought it was great. The song that Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton sang together could so totally be a #1 hit on the radio today. I wish we would have heard GS sing more too...I loved the ending when they all sang Troubador together. And "King George" is still one of the most handsome men ever in country music.

PUEBLO, Colo. (May 11, 2009) - At the beginning of the 2009 Built Ford Tough Series (BFTS) season, the PBR’s Rules & Regulations Committee made the decision that only the top forty bull riders in the world will now compete on the prestigious tour. The decision was made to create a stronger competitiveness among those qualified riders. On Monday, May 11, the PBR administration announced the fourth official cut of the 2009 season.

The riders who were dropped from the BFTS tour following the Genuity Invitational in Des Moines, Ia., are: Pete Farley (Kempsey, AUS); Dusty Ephrom (Arcola, SK, Canada); Brian Herman (Victoria, Texas); Dusty LaBeth (Louisburg, Kan.); and Nick Landreneau (Sulphur, La.). However, due to injury exemptions, Herman and LaBeth will each have one remaining event to compete at.

Due to his standings in the 2009 Copenhagen Bull Riding Challenger Tour, Farley will remain on the BFTS tour. In addition, Elliott Jacoby (Rocksprings, Texas); Cody Nance (Paris, Tenn.); Caleb Sanderson (Kissimmee, Fla.); and Reese Cates (Carthage, Texas) will also advance to the elite BFTS tour by virtue of their achievements at the Copenhagen Bull Riding Challenger Tour level.

Proud Of East Texas: Adriano Moraes

By Joan Hallmark
TYLER, TX (KLTV) - The story of Adriano Moraes is one of "rags to riches". Born in poverty in rural Brazil, Moraes, through passion, courage and perseverance, became what is described as "the greatest bull rider in history". Moraes won unpresidented world titles in 1994, 2001 and 2006. He retired from bull riding last year and from his base at his home just outside Tyler, travels as spokesperson for the PBR, Professional Bull Riders Association.

Moraes's victories and the way he accomplished them are something he shares in his book for kids "Eight Seconds With Little Adriano". Moraes knows the virtues of courage, self-discipline, respect, friendship, hope, love perseverance, and faith, which he teaches in his book and in his motivational speeches, do work. He's living proof. For more information on the "Adriano Moraes For Kids" project, go to the Big Red Box on kltv.com.

I'm watching (after "This Week in NASCAR" goes off) every week and voting as many times as they let me.

Of course, it's no secret that I always have and always will love Ty! LOL! I've even decided that I like Jewel too. Surprise, surprise. I know none of y'all would have ever expected to hear me say that. I'm still not a big fan of her music. I just like "Til We Run Out Of Road" and "Stronger Woman".

Ty & Jewel have been doing an amazing job keeping everyone up to date with blogs on the PBR site, My Space, Jewel's site, and Twitter. I have links if anyone is interested.

Ty is calling us his Army. He may not be the best dancer but he has sure worked hard and come a long way. It's getting tight now, so it's going to take his Army to pull it off. I think they are amazed at just how strong this PBR/rodeo/cowboy nation really is.

Everyone as much as you can and let's keep Ty there to the end!

TRADING PEROID :This is ONLY for trading peroids not when picking your team. You may trade One Cowboy and One Sub. Both must be lower in the Standings. If your Cowboy or Sub is NOT in the top 45 you May pick your Cowboy or Sub from the 30th place down.
