In the prologue of DF, when Mac is explaining the situation...on the second page she mentions that if a woman sleeps with a Fae, she becomes a mess. Then is goes on to "it takes a long time for her to recover - but at least she's alive [...] which means a chance to fight another day. to help try to find a way to return our world to what it once was."
- could this be foreshadowing already for the next books? In reading the posts you girls have written...most say "The person Mac chooses turns out to be the bad choice [...] It says that her choice is terribly life altering." So. What if she actually chooses V'lane...gets distracted and messes up, and JB trys to get her back to normal so she can "be alive and recover...to help find a way to return the world" like she was originally doing prior to V'lane? Or. Maybe V'lane and JB are in it together like someone else said - and the McKelter she meets later helps her? So many possibilities! But I thought it was funny that she just HAPPENED to mention that a woman can get messed up from fae sex - and can recover to save the world again....in the prologue (after she experiences things - it may be furture to that book - but a foreshadowing to another!) Or maybe I'm rambling and don't make sense! sorry!

The prologue certainly makes it sound like Mac is speaking from personal experience. Yet I'm hoping against hope that she doesn't get tangled up with V'lane because he *is* a Slimy Git. The scene at the museum was downright scary, and it doesn't matter how much he turns on the charm in the next book, he's still off-putting. -- Neko, 11:04:20 01/02/07 Tue [1]
Completely aside from whether Mac would ever "succumb" to a Fae like V'lane (I like to believe she's better than that), I don't think *he* would be willing to lower himself to be with her. While it's true he seemed willing to take advantage of Mac at the museum, I just think his Fae pride wouldn't allow him to have any sort of "relationship" with a Null--esp after the spear incident (DF mentions how disgusted he is by the thought that a human could have any sort of power over him at all).
