Dont remember if someone discussed it before, but :
How do you think JB knows about V'lane's offer to Mac?
I think there is something important behind it, like another clue to what JB is.

I think he knows about V'lane's offer, but not the totality of what went on (or perhaps he was only supposing that V'lane made the offer and Mac's reaction confirmed it). Thus, JB is smart and wise in using what shadows of knowledge he has.
